How to Download Instagram Videos on iPhone?.
Starting from standard videos, IGTV, Stories and ending with Reels; Instagram is filled with all kinds of video content. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t allow you to download any of its videos. In this article, I will show you all the ways to download Instagram videos on iPhone.
There are three ways to download Instagram videos to your iPhone; using a third-party app, using an online service in Safari, and using a Siri shortcut. And some of them even support downloading Instagram videos from both public and private accounts you follow. Let’s start.
Method 1 – Download Instagram Videos with Siri Shortcuts
Instagram Media Saver is a sophisticated Siri shortcut created by @ mvan231 that allows you to download any Instagram video to your iPhone. You can upload video posts, stories, IGTV and even videos, but only if the creator’s account is public.
Start by downloading and installing a shortcut to your iPhone using this iCloud or Routinehub link. It will show you a preview of the entire shortcut and all the actions it can take. Scroll down and click on “Add untrusted shortcut”.

The shortcut is now ready to go. Open the Instagram app and navigate to the video you want to download. Click the Options button in the upper right corner of the video. A menu will appear, click “Share …” to open the sharing sheet.
Scroll down and you will find all available shortcuts. Find Instagram Media Saver and tap the icon to launch the shortcut.
It will extract the media associated with the url and present several different files for download. Tap the timestamped option, then Done. Your Instagram video will be downloaded and saved in the Photos app.
Pros
- Download stories, messages, videos and IGTV with one tap.
- You can also upload sketches and images.
Cons
- Only works with public messages
Method two – use a third-party app
Repost: For Instagram is one of the most popular Instagram photo and video downloader apps. The app makes it really handy and you can get started by installing it from the App Store.
Using Repost has one advantage over the Siri Shortcut method: you can even save videos from private accounts you follow. But you will need to enter your credentials in the app, because this is the only way the API will allow you to download private messages.
Open the Instagram app and navigate to the video you want to download. Click the Options button in the upper-right corner of the video and click Copy Link.
Now open the Repost app and your post will be detected automatically. Tap a thumbnail and open the shared sheet by clicking the Share button in the upper right corner of the screen.
Just hit “Save Video†and your Instagram video will be uploaded to your Photos app.
As mentioned above, you then have to enter your app login credentials, because that’s the only way the API will allow you to download private messages.
To enter your credentials, you just need to copy the link to the private post and the app will automatically ask you to enter your credentials. You will only need to do this once.
Pros
- Archive of all videos you uploaded.
- You can upload multiple messages.
- Works with posts, stories, videos and IGTV.
- You can even download videos from private accounts you follow.
Cons
- No.
Third method – using Safari
If you’re not too keen on installing apps or using shortcuts and just want a one-time way to download Instagram videos, you can use Safari. Downloadgram.com allows you to download IGTV photos, videos and videos.
Just open the Safari web browser on your iPhone and go to downloadgram.com. Paste your Instagram post URL into the input field in the middle of the page and click Download. He will receive detailed information about the video and will present another, greener “Download Video” button. Press and hold the video download button to bring up the viewing menu.
Click “Download linked file” in the browse menu and the download will start in the download manager. After that, click the “Downloads” button in the upper right corner and open the downloaded video.
Right now the video is stored in your iCloud account and you can access it using the Files app, but if you want to save it in the Photos app, click the Share button in the bottom left corner and Save Video …

- No installation required
- Let you download posts, videos and IGTV
