How to Disable Annoying Default Alerts on Apple Watch.
Apple Watch is one of the most impressive devices released in the last decade. The integration of lifestyle monitoring (like Fitbit) and the ability to see texts and calls at once is a miracle. The watch tracks my heart rate, exercise and how much I stand.
There are third-party sleep monitoring apps that help users better understand how well they sleep. Apple Watch even reminds you to breathe, nudging you into awareness.
However, mindfulness loses its appeal when Apple Watch reminds you to breathe at 3 a.m. while wearing your sleep tracking watch. Many of the standard warnings can become annoying over time, but it’s not always clear how to turn them off.
Here’s how to turn off the most annoying default alerts so that your sleep tracker is accurate and doesn’t register a sudden wake up followed by a heartbeat spike.
- Start by opening the Watch app on iPhone.
- You’ll see a variety of options, starting with the clock itself at the top, the watch faces to choose from below, and then a list of four tabs you can click on: Difficulties, Notifications, App Layout. , and Doc.

By default, there are two watch apps that will send notifications and reminders – Activity and Breathe.
- Click Actions. The easiest way to turn it off completely is to tap “Notifications Off†on the next screen.
If you want to customize which notifications you receive, you have the following options:

- Daily coaching (reminders to complete your activity goals).
- Goals Achieved (notifications when you have achieved your Movement, Exercise, or Set goals for the day).
- Special Tasks (notifications about the completion of special achievements).
- Activity Sharing Notifications (notifications when someone you are sharing an activity with completes an assignment).
Each of them can be turned on or off individually. You can also control the grouping of actions from this screen.
- Breathe is a meditation and breathing app for the Apple Watch. Click Breathe under Activity to open it.
- Once again, the easiest way to turn off notifications is to simply turn off all notifications. You can also send them to your phone’s Notification Center.
Disable Breathe Reminders

- Once again, the easiest way to turn off notifications is to simply set all notifications to Off . You can also choose to have it sent to your phone’s notification center.
- Tap Breath Reminders to change custom settings. You can choose from zero to ten reminders per day.
- Below this option, you will see a sliding tab for the weekly summary, which sounds exactly like that – a summary version of how often you used the app in the previous week.
You can mute the app for one day, control the grouping of notifications, and even change the haptic feedback the watch provides.
The breathing rate is more interesting. With this parameter, you can control how many breaths you will be instructed to take per minute of using the application. The default is seven, but you can choose from four to ten.
To change the duration of your breathing session, open the app on your watch and turn the dial.
At the very bottom of the screen, you can select Use Previous Duration so that each new breath will default to the same duration as the previous one.

Just follow the steps above to turn off notifications or limit them to specific times of day so that nothing is interfering with your sleep.
