How To Delete Google Photos Without Losing It On Local Storage?

How To Delete Google Photos Without Losing It On Local Storage?.

Google Photos has features like unlimited storage, Google Lens integration, geotagging, and more. Apart from a clean user interface and feature-rich service, there is one thing that’s not easy to do – delete a photo from the cloud without losing it on your phone. If you want to delete data from Google Photos, I have a step-by-step guide on how to delete Google Photos without losing it to local storage. Let’s start.

Delete Google photos without losing data on the phone

You can use a different device or desktop to delete the image, turn backup and sync on and off for folders, etc. And most of them didn’t work. But, nevertheless, there is one little trick that can help you with this.

1. Move the pictures to a different folder

The Google Photos app is both a gallery app and a backup service, and if you delete a photo from Google Photos, it thinks you don’t need the image and deletes it in both local and cloud storage to make your work easier.

But if you are like me and want to remove some useless images from Google Photos, but still want to access those images on your phone, there is a little trick that can help you with that. Start by opening the file explorer app on your phone and create a new folder. Let’s call this article “Not a backup”.

I recommend that you back up your photos to external storage like a laptop or SSD.

2. Use the Secure Folder (Samsung users only)

If you are using a Samsung phone, you can use the Secure Folder app. Photos you take with your camera in a secure folder will only be available in Secure Solder and will not be copied to Google Photos unless you also installed the Google Photos app to a secure folder.

In any case, if you are not already using Secure Folder, you can enable it by going to Settings Biometrics & Security Secure Solder and create your account. This gives you a second place to install apps, and you can only access it with a password. You get separate storage, separate apps, and even a separate Google account if you want.

Packaging

It was a quick way to delete Google Photos from the cloud without affecting your local backup. I agree that this should be a one-click process, but this is the current situation. What do you think of this method? Let me know in the comments below.
