Social media can be a blessing. You can stay in touch with your loved ones, connect with new friends and followers, and promote your business or brand to attract new customers. Twitter and Facebook have brought people closer than ever before.
For some, this can be a curse too. Posting too many personal items online can backfire, unsurprisingly, causing endless frustrations. Friends can just as easily become enemies because of the wrong likes or followers, and your brand can collapse before your very eyes for the same reasons.
Social media can be pretty ruthless if you let it. For this reason, it would be nice to know how to get rid of it in order to try and erase the lead from scratch. We will discuss how to log out of your account, leave groups and delete your Facebook page.
How to delete a Facebook page
There are many reasons for getting rid of your Facebook account – pages and all. Too much time online can lead to poor social skills in real life. Perhaps the friends you meet online are not as interesting and fun as those that were offline. Maybe you no longer have a reason to use Facebook and just want to wash it all away.
Whatever your reasons, it has become much easier to cleanse social media infections in recent years. But before you delete your Facebook page and distance yourself from the social platform, it is recommended that you save all information sent and received over the years, including messages and images, in case you want to preserve memories. Once they disappear, they will disappear forever, so do this before jumping off the gun.
- To upload a copy of all your information to Facebook, go to Settings.
- On the left menu, click “Your Facebook Information”.
- To do this, click “Upload your information”.
- Check all data that is important enough to copy and click “Create File”.
- If you no longer need your page and want to delete it, go to your page and click “Settings” in the menu.
- Stay on General and scroll down in the main window.
- Similar to deleting your Facebook account first, it might be a good idea to download a copy of your page.
- Click Download Page to open a larger dialog box.
- From here, click on the Download Page link.
- After the page information has loaded, you can proceed with deleting it.
- Click Delete Page to open a dialog box. Then click Remove [page name] and click OK.
- Launch the Facebook app from your mobile device and sign in.
- Click on the three horizontal lines icon to open the menu.
- On iPhone, the menu is in the lower right corner of the screen. Android has them at the top.
- Scroll down and click Pages.
- Select the page you want to remove by clicking on it. This will open the page.
- Tap the pencil-shaped icon (Change Page) just below the page title to open a new menu.
- Couldn’t find your pencil? Find and tap the three dots icon by selecting the Edit Page option.
- Click “Settings” to open the page settings.
- Go to the General tab.
- Scroll down to the Delete Page option.
- Tap Remove [page name].
- Then make two more touches: one to delete the page, the other to OK.
- Find and navigate to the group you want to remove and click Members.
- You will need to go through, mark the names of each person in the group and remove them by clicking Remove from Group.
- Once everything from the Group has been removed, next to your name, click “Leave Group”.
- Confirm by clicking “Exit and Delete”.
- Go to settings.
- Go to the Your Facebook Information tab and click Deactivation and Removal.
- Select “Deactivate Account” and click “Continue Deactivating Account”.
- You will be prompted for a password. To continue, enter your Facebook password in the field.
- Choose a reason for leaving from several options, then click Deactivate.
- You can follow every step of the deactivation process mentioned earlier, right down to the choice between Deactivate account and Delete account.
- quick refresh to avoid scrolling up: Settings> Your Facebook Info tab> Deactivation and uninstallation.
- This time choose “Delete my account permanently”.
- In a new window, you will be able to save Messenger by deactivating your account instead and uploading your information. We highly recommend the latter.
- When you’re done, click “Delete Account”, enter your password and click “Continue” to confirm.

How to delete your Facebook account
You’ve come to the conclusion that Facebook is no longer your social media platform, and it’s time to stop working. Either that, or you want to wash away the sins of the current account in favor of a new one, where not everyone knows your name.
However, the process remains the same.
Facebook will inform you that it will take some time before the process is complete. Approximately 30 days after this article was published. You cannot log into your account again during the process, or risk extending the 30-day processing period. This means that you will have to repeat all the steps to uninstall again.
Remember, if you think you might want to reopen your Facebook account in the future, disable it, not delete it. Deactivation keeps all your account information, photos and settings intact, invisible to friends and strangers. You can reactivate at any time.
