How to Delete a Page in Google Docs 2022.
If you’re writing anything on your computer, you probably know how to use Google Docs – maybe for office work or collaborating on a school project. Google Docs offers a fast way to share and collaborate on documents that you can access across multiple devices.
When several team members work on the same document, it can look like a war zone. If you want to clean up a Google Doc, you may need to delete any unfinished or unwanted pages.
How to Delete An Unwanted Page in Google Docs?
You can delete an unwanted page in four ways. However, Google Docs does not have a delete button that would allow you to directly delete a specific page.
You can choose any of the four methods below to remove a blank page or an extra page with content you don’t need.
The method you choose depends on your particular use case:
Remove Unwanted Text – If you just want to remove unwanted text to reduce the number of pages.Remove Page Break or Section Break – If you want to merge the content of two pages, removing the page break. Less margins, reduce spacing between paragraphs and lines – when you need to fit text on fewer pages and don’t mind shrinking it a little horizontally or vertically.
Before you get started, you should know that you can view the total number of pages by hovering over the slider to the right of the Google Doc. If you are on the first page of a 15 page document, the slide should show you “1 of 15”. Alternatively, you can add page numbers to your Google Docs.
Remove unwanted text to remove a page from Google Docs
If there is a large piece of text in your document that you don’t need, removing it will likely make your document page smaller depending on how much text you remove. Deleting text is as easy as selecting it and pressing the Backspace key on your keyboard.
To delete text, start by selecting the text you want to delete. You can select with mouse or keyboard.
If you are going to use the mouse, move the cursor to the point where the text fragment begins. Press and hold the left mouse button and continue dragging the selection to the end of the text.
When selecting text with the mouse, be careful not to scroll down or up when selecting. The document can scroll down quite quickly, and if you press the backspace key immediately, you will end up deleting the desired text.
Also, you can use the keyboard. Move your cursor to the beginning of the text content you want to delete. Press and hold Ctrl + Shift + Right Arrow until you select all the text you want to delete.
With the text selected, press the Backspace or Delete key. You will see the text disappear and depending on how much text you remove, you will also see the number of pages in the document decrease. Remove the page break to remove the page from Google Docs
Page and section breaks are great tools for clean formatting. Adding a page or section break adds white space to the rest of the page you are writing on. Google Docs will add any text you add after that to the new page.
However, if you use too many page or section breaks, you can end up with a very long document. If you’re thinking about formatting and decide to remove some pages from your document, removing page breaks and sections will help you with this.
To remove a page or section break, start by placing the cursor at the end of the blank space. Alternatively, you can highlight the empty space added by the page break on both pages.
Press and hold the Delete or Return button until you remove the page or section break and the text on the next page returns to where it should be without a page break.
Note that if you have used continuous section breaks, the white space between paragraphs will be minimal. However, if you have too many continuous section breaks, removing them can still help remove a page or two from the end of the document.
Reduce page margins to remove the page from Google Docs
By default, Google Docs documents have margins on both sides. The wider the margins, the more your text shrinks towards the bottom of the page, and the more pages it will take for the same amount of text.
Following the same logic, you can reduce the width of the margins to make room for text on all pages, thereby reducing the total number of pages needed for the entire document. This method is handy when you have multiple lines of text that span a blank page.
Start by going to Page Setup Options – select File from the menu bar at the top and select Page Setup from the drop-down menu.
You will see the Page Setup popup in the document. From here, you’ll be able to adjust the margin widths and a few other options. Change the top, bottom, left, and right margins to a smaller number.
By default, all margins are set to 1 inch. You can reduce the margins as much as you like, but make sure you enter the same number for left and right or top and bottom margins for consistency.
Reduce paragraph line spacing to remove page from Google Docs
Increasing the spacing between paragraphs and lines makes the text in a document more legible. However, greater distance also takes up much more real estate.
If you have created a default template that uses increased spacing, you will end up using that spacing every time you create a document. You can also increase the spacing between paragraphs and lines if you are importing a Microsoft Word document if the Word template used by the creator has more spacing between paragraphs and lines.
Decreasing the spacing between paragraphs and lines will help compress text closer together horizontally and vertically, hence requiring fewer pages for the same text.
You do not need to change the Google Doc or MS Word template format to delete pages in this document. You can use the Custom Spacing option to reduce line spacing in any document.
To decrease the line spacing, select the Format menu from the toolbar at the top. Then select Line and Paragraph Spacing > Custom Spacing.
You will see a dialog where you can adjust the spacing between paragraphs and lines. Reduce both from what they currently are to reduce the number of pages. The lower the number, the more pages you are likely to delete.
How to Delete a Page in Google Docs on Android and iOS
The methods discussed so far work on the web version of Google Docs when you use it from Windows or Mac. However, Google Docs has a separate app for Android and iPhone.
The mobile app has a slightly different interface. The methods for deleting a page are the same, but the process is slightly different on the mobile app. However, in the Android version of the app, there is no option to set margins manually. Changing margins is the only method where the process is different for Android and iPhone.

Clean Up Your Doc By Deleting Unwanted Pages
Removing unnecessary blank pages is not about saving space. All Google apps use Google Drive for file storage, which offers 15GB of free space, enough to store countless blank pages.
However, keeping the number of pages to a minimum keeps the document legible. However, you still need to make sure the document is properly formatted. Nobody likes to read cluttered documents.
