Most companies already know that ditching video is no longer an option. Did you know that 87% of internet marketers use video as part of their digital marketing strategy? If your company doesn’t use video, you’re missing out on your business message.
This high demand for video has led many companies to offer software to make video creation easier. VideoMakerFX, a template-based video builder for Windows and Mac, is an example of one such program.
It’s easy to use and helps marketers and business owners create animated videos to promote their messages in a fun and visually engaging way. With VideoMakerFX you can create animated videos such as:
- Animation
- Whiteboard
- Kinetic Text
- Logo Openers
- Corporate presentations
- Photo showcases
- Lower thirds, etc.
While not free software, it is a $ 27 one-time fee including full developer rights. Below is a guide on how to create a video using VideoMakerFX
Get Started
After purchasing and downloading VideoMakerFX, launch it from the Windows Start Menu. If you are using a Mac, start it from the Applications folder.
Once launched, log into the software with the same username and password that you use to enter your personal account. Keep in mind that if you change your account login credentials, you will need to use the same new accounts to access the software. You also need an internet connection.

After logging in, you will see an intuitive control panel. See the big arrow pointing to “Create Project” and the description, which is very clear about where to start. To begin with it says “Create a new project” or “Open a project”.
VideoMakerFX“/>
Create a new video
Start by clicking on the + sign to start a new project. You will then be prompted to give your video a name. Let’s call it Learn VideoMakerFX
Then click “Create Project”.
VideoMakerFX“/>
After creating the project, the screen shows that no slides have been added. Just click “Add Slide” to get started.
VideoMakerFX“/>
Add slides to your video
After you click Add Slide, you will see the options shown in the screenshot below.
VideoMakerFX“/>
In the pop-up window on the left, review the slide theme options that you can choose. Each theme has several possible layouts.
VideoMakerFX“/>
If you click on each layout, you can see a preview of the slide and decide whether to use it or not. If you like it, you can add just one slide or all of the theme.
VideoMakerFX“/>
The main product contains many templates. However, you can also purchase additional packages. They even have a membership site where you can get new slides every month.
But there is so much you can do with a basic program. So, this article will focus on the core software. If you choose to use all the layouts from one template, this is the easiest way to create your first video.
When you select all layouts in a theme, they will appear on your storyboard.

Edit slides
Let’s start with the first slide. Look at the right side, this is the edit section. Click on the 6 text areas for this slide and see which words are in each space to match which text area.
VideoMakerFX“/>
You will notice many areas where you can make changes to the text. See Arrows under Motion Enabled. If you want to move the text area up, down, left, or right, select the Text area, select the Move On check box, and use the arrows to reposition the text.
If you want to add text that does not fit in the space provided, you can reduce the font size.
VideoMakerFX“/>
You can also change the font type, size, color, text alignment, transparency, slide delay, background effect, and text effects. Experiment with different options to see which one you like best.
To change the text, place the cursor in the area labeled “Your Text”, delete everything that is there, and add your own.
If you want to use the slides in a different order, click on the side you want to move. Then click the left or right arrow above the storyboard.
To delete a slide, select it and click the red X above the storyboard. A slide can also be duplicated by clicking the clone icon (two small rectangles) next to the x on any individual slide.

Change images
Some slides only have a background image. See screenshot below.
VideoMakerFX“/>
You can replace the background image as follows:
- Search for a file on your computer.
- Selecting a file from the gallery provided by VideoMakerFX
- Clean up the image if you don’t want to include it
See screenshot below for an idea of ??the available options presented in the gallery.
VideoMakerFX“/>
Some slides have additional areas where you can add images in addition to changing the background.
VideoMakerFX“/>
In the screenshot below, you can see where I uploaded the image from my computer to fill the white rectangular space. It didn’t fill the entire area, so I clicked on the + icon to increase the size and fill the space.
VideoMakerFX“/>
Edit Shapes
You can also turn shapes on and off, change colors, and move them around on a slide. Check the Enable and Disable box to see which ones you can change.
If you want to change the background color of the slide, click inside the color box next to Shape BG with the Enabled checkbox checked and select the color you want to use.
In the screenshot below, you can see that the background of the image has turned blue.
VideoMakerFX“/>
Animation
There are two sets of animations, but not all slides offer both. For example, the slide below with the character shows the parameters only for Animation 1.
Note that you can select one of nine options and move it using the arrows (circled below). You can also opt out of using animation.
VideoMakerFX“/>
For slides with two sets of animations, the process is the same as described above.
When you’re done modifying the slide the way you want, you can preview it by clicking the play button below the slide.
Change slide time length
There is a standard time for each slide. You can also delay the slide or end the delay, which will lengthen the time before the side starts or take longer (see circled area below).
VideoMakerFX“/>
Add sound
In the top navigation bar, click Sound Settings. VideoMakerFX provides copyright-free audio files that you can include in your videos.
To listen to a track, select it and click the Play button. You can set the volume of the audio file and choose to fade in or fade out. When you find the music you like, select it and click “Apply”.
If you have your own file (it should be .mp3), you can also upload it. You can add a voiceover file to any music or use it separately by uploading an .mp3 file.
Note that there are separate settings with the same controls for the music file and the audio file.
VideoMakerFX“/>
Preview your video
Before rendering a project, you can preview it to see if you like all the changes you made. Find and click the “Project Preview” button at the top of the navigation.
VideoMakerFX“/>
Export your video
It’s time to render or export your video. Select Export Project from the top navigation bar. Find and select the directory and filename for your exported video file.
You can also select a size with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720 (HD). Pay attention to the “Quality” parameter. The default is Medium. You will get better quality, but it will take longer to download if you select Perfect.
VideoMakerFX“/>
The instructions above show you how to create a simple video using one of the many VideoMakerFX templates.
The more you use the product, the easier it will become. Over time, you will learn how to combine and match slide layouts from different slide themes to create a unique video that doesn’t look like a template.
You will also see how easy it is to change colors, backgrounds, images and more so you can brand your video to match your company and your message.
