If you’ve tried ordering pizza delivery or contacting tech support about an app issue, you’ve probably run into a chatbot. They can take your order or answer your question, sometimes even give you suggestions based on what you ask, and more.
By implementing bots, small and large businesses are cutting costs by processing routine requests and calls, thereby replacing the number of employees required to complete such tasks.

They can also interact with a wider audience, which means even more engagement with customers. Finally, they provide better service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without interruption and respond instantly with reliable accuracy.
However, this does not mean that the human factor has been completely replaced. There are always agents to solve complex problems for which the bots are not trained.

The first thing to do is define your goals:

- Who is your target audience?
- What is your ultimate goal?
Your answers to these three questions will determine which chatbot you use – for example, support, e-commerce, or news bots. Your end goal could be something like new sales, customer interactions, or simply creating an optimized user experience for your customers.
One of the easiest ways to create a simple chatbot for your website is to use chatbot software They come with ready-made bot templates, or you can create your own from scratch. For this tutorial, we chose Botsify, a platform that allows you to create your own chatbots without coding knowledge.
Before creating your bot, make a plan. If you have a ready-made FAQ document, you can plan the conversations that the chatbot will have with your site visitors. Thus, you can program it to suggest specific actions that will help them achieve their goals while they are on the site.
Botsify offers a free trial that you can use to build and test your bot to see how it will perform when it’s ready. Click “Register for Free†in the upper right corner to register and use the platform.
Choose what you want the chatbot to do on your site. You can choose from the following intentions:
- Automate customer support for the LiveChat website.
- Automate customer support for Facebook page.
- Generate leads for your business from your website.
- Drive leads from Facebook
- Create a Messenger audience for Facebook marketing.
- Create a Slack bot.
- Click Go to Next Step to ask the questions that you want to automate. Enter each question with an appropriate answer based on the list of frequently asked questions.
- When you have answered all the questions, click Test & Run.
- On the Settings page, give your chatbot a name, add a welcome message, and then select an avatar and theme colors (this could be your brand colors or your favorite color combination)
- As you change the settings, you can see how they will look in the preview on the right side of the window. Click “Save and Continue”.
- You will be prompted to click on the widget to test the chatbot on the right side of the screen. Check it out by entering one of the questions from the FAQ and see how the bot reacts.
- If you’re happy with your creation, click Publish to post it to your website. Test it on your platform to make sure it meets your expectations.
- Sign up for Chatfuel by clicking the Get Started Free button. Give Chatfuel access to your email and Facebook profile.
- Link your Facebook page. After confirming your login, you will be redirected to the Chatfuel dashboard.
- Click “Connect” to add your Facebook page.
- A welcome message will appear confirming a successful connection.
- Create a welcome message that visitors or clients to your page see when they start a messaging session. He will tell them what to expect and how to move on.
- On your Facebook page, click Settings> Messaging and set Show Messenger Greeting to ON.
- Click Edit, enter your welcome message and click Save.
- Go to your Chatfuel dashboard and click “Welcome Message”. Enter the desired message – changes will be saved automatically.
- Test the post from your Facebook page by clicking the Post button.
- Create a default response in the Chatfuel dashboard that tells users what to do next, such as email support, support, or paraphrase the question.
- From Control Panel, select Customize AI> Add AI Rule.
- Enter a keyword that your visitors can use, such as “Help”, in the “If the user says something like this” box.
- Enter a helpful answer in the Bot Answers with Text box, such as Help articles or Knowledgebase, or a Help topic with a link to a Help page.
- Do this for as many keywords as possible. You can ask your support team what keywords to use to customize the AI Check answers as you add them.
- Click the Add Post button on your Facebook page by clicking the Add Button button.
- Click Contact You> Send Message.
- Select Messenger as the default place to send people and click Done.
- You will now see a Send Message button on your page. Click it to test and launch your Facebook chatbot.

You can create a chatbot for your Facebook page using the developer quickstart, or you can use the software as we did when we created the chatbot on the website above. The latter option is simpler, since no programming knowledge is required to use it.
We will be using Chatfuel in this tutorial as it is one of the easiest tools to use and you can deploy your bot in just 7 minutes. Below are the instructions for creating a chatbot.
