WEBP and HEIC files are used on the web or mobile devices to better compress file size without affecting image quality too much. The problem is that if you want to edit or use one of these files elsewhere, you run into problems.
Most programs do not recognize these files, which means that you have to take additional steps to convert the WEBP and HEIC files to usable formats. In this guide, we will explain to you how this can be done with each type of file.
Converting these file types is pretty easy, so follow the instructions below and you should be done in a few minutes.
How to convert WEBP files
Let’s first take a look at how we can convert WEBP files to any other file type so that you can use them in Photoshop, GIMP, or any other program that works with photography.
First, make sure the .webp file is downloaded to your computer. Then visit ezgif.com and click the WebP option in the toolbar on the right.
From here, you have three options for converting WEBP files. As shown above, you can convert WEBP to JPG, PNG or GIF. Choose the most suitable aspect ratio.

Then click Select File and navigate to the WEBP file you want to convert. Once you’ve found it, double click on it. After that click Download!
From here, you have several options. You can crop it, rotate the image, resize it, add text, or change the file format.
Alternatively, you can click “Convert To ” when you’re ready to save the image in the new file format. Scroll down and click “Save” on the image below the converted image box.
After that, your newly converted file will be downloaded to your default downloads folder. That’s all. You can repeat this process for any other WEBP files you want to convert.
How to convert heic files to jpg
If you want to convert multiple HEIC photos to JPG, please follow the steps we have provided below. If you want to convert your HEIC files to PNG instead, skip this section and read the following instead.
For the bulk conversion of HEIC files we will be using the free HEICtojpg.com service – visit the website to access the tool. When you get to heictojpg, click “Select .heics” or “Drag and drop them here.”
Then find the HEIC files you want to download, press Ctrl and click each one. To make the process easier, make sure all your HEIC files are in the same folder before starting this process.
HEICtojpg will start converting your files. When everything is ready, you can download them in converted JPG format. You can now use these files in any standard image or photo editing software.
How to convert HEIC or HEIF files to PNG
If you want to convert your HEIC or HEIF files to PNG, visit heic2png.com and use the tool they provided on their page. It is a free service that can convert any HEIC or HEIF files to PNG.
Like other tools in this tutorial, you can click the download files button and then ctrl and click each file you want to convert.
Once you’re done, click “Open” and the conversion will start. It may take a while, but you should be able to see how each file is loaded and converted. You can cancel individual files at any time or upload files when they are ready.
At the bottom of the page, you will see links to other conversion tools such as HEIF to PNG.
