How to Clean your iPhone Share Sheet?.

In iOS 13, Siri automatically recommends shortcuts based on the context specified in the Share Sheet. However, if you have too many apps or shortcuts installed on your iPhone, some unnecessary apps and shortcuts can slip away as well. In this article, we will try to clean up iPhone Share Sheet.

Busy Post Sheet

Before we get to the solution, we need to understand the structure of the common sheet. The sharing sheet in iOS 13 can be broken down into the following segments – quick links, app bar, favorites, contextual actions, and shortcuts.

There is no way to automatically mute everything on the shared sheet and clear it. Hence, you will have to manually disable all applications and shortcuts that you see on the shared sheet.

There is no way to remove quick links and contextual actions as they are automatically generated by iOS based on your use and the context of the item you are sharing. However, there is a way to disable multiple apps in the app strip and disable shortcuts. For example, the TikTok app appears in the Share sheet with an image, and I want to turn it off as I never use it to share images.

Clean up your post sheet

1. Remove applications from the general sheet

To remove apps from the shared list, open the shared list by clicking the Share button in any application. The apps in the app bar will vary from item to item, so you may have to repeat this process several times. In my case, I wanted to turn off the display of Lightroom and Mail in the photo sharing sheet. Scroll right and press the more button.

On the Apps page, click the edit button and uninstall any apps you don’t use. You can even remove apps from your favorites and add the ones you use regularly. For example, I use WhatsApp, Slack and Twitter more often, so I added them to my favorites.

I removed all third party apps from the Stripe box and now the overall sheet looks much better. However, there is a chance that Apple apps may still be displayed. If you take a look at the following screenshot, the Messages app is still displayed by default, although I removed it from my Apple-typical favorites!

2. Remove shortcuts from the shared sheet.

After we have removed the apps from the shared sheet, we can go ahead and remove unnecessary shortcuts from the shared sheet. However, unlike apps, you cannot remove shortcuts from the shared sheet itself. Instead, you’ll have to go to the Shortcuts app and disable each shortcut individually. Aaaaa!

Open the Shortcuts app, find a shortcut, press and hold it, and tap details.

Now you can either turn off its permanent display in the general sheet, or limit its visibility to certain types of files. To prevent the shortcut from showing on the shared sheet at all times, turn off the toggle next to Show on Shared Sheet. However, if you want the shortcut to appear for specific locations, tap Share Sheet Types and choose the options in which you want it to appear. For example, I want this particular shortcut to appear in files.

That’s all you need to do to prevent the shortcut from showing up in the Share Sheet anymore. If you are like me with more than 100 labels, you will have to manually repeat this process for each label. I removed all unnecessary apps and shortcuts, you can see side-by-side comparison of Share Sheet as it looked before and now.

Siri shortcuts continue to integrate into the iOS interface and actually add functionality that would otherwise be impossible due to Apple’s stringent security restrictions. For example, I recently added a shortcut to scan a QR code from an image in the Photos app that can be accessed directly from the Share sheet. However, with great features, there is a huge mess. While removing all of the shortcuts was time consuming, it was worth it in the end as I still spend most of my time in the Shortcuts app. However, what’s your favorite Siri shortcut?
