Your username and Riot ID are different. username is used to log into your account, but your Riot ID is your display name in all games. Your slogan is a hash of up to five characters after your username.
The combination of these two features means that neither of them must be unique if the combination is original. This results in more name customization options. Because you can change your Riot ID every 30 days, you can create a new display name for every month.
How to Change Your Riot ID And Tagline
Changing your Riot ID is easy and can be done in less than five minutes.
Go to account.riotgames.com.Sign in to Riot Games. You may be prompted to enter two-factor authentication if it is enabled on your account.Select a Riot ID on the left.
Next to the title Riot ID, select Riot ID and enter a new title. Then select Slogan and enter a new hash. Then select Save Changes.
Each player has a name they want to use, and sometimes those names are the same. Although many games cannot use the same name, you can use the same display name or slogan as another player. All you have to do is make sure that the combination of these two fields is unique.
Of course, the username must comply with the rules. If it’s offensive, automatic filters will likely block you from using it. If you somehow manage to use an offensive name, Riot Games can force you to change it even if you’ve changed your name within the last 30 days, but don’t try to use this as a way to change names frequently. Most likely, this will lead to a ban.
How to Change Your Riot Games Account Password
You should change your Riot games password at least once every few months to prevent unauthorized access to your account. You can change this in the same menu where you change your Riot ID and slogan.
Go to account.riotgames.com.Sign in to Riot Games.Select “Login to Riot Account” on the left side of the screen.
Under the Change Password field, enter your current password and a new password. Enter your new password again to confirm it, then select Save Changes.
Changing your password regularly can be tedious, especially if you forget you changed it. (Forgot your password? You can recover it on the login page.) An alternative is to use a password manager to keep track of all your individual passwords. This allows you to use different passwords for each account, but you only need to remember one password – a particularly useful feature for account management.
Is the Riot ID the Same as My League of Legends ID?
If you’re a long time LoL player but these steps seem unfamiliar to you, it’s due to a recent change made by Riot Games that consolidated all of your accounts into a single hotspot. Your old League of Legends account should be transferred to a Riot Games account.
However, once this is done, you can sign in the same way as always. If you don’t already have a Riot Games account, you’ll need to create one. You can sign in with your Gmail email account. You can also link your Gmail, Facebook, or Apple account to an existing Riot Games account.
If you want to stay relevant, don’t be afraid to change your Riot ID and slogan. You can change it to fit any clan you play as, or to represent your favorite character. Just make sure it’s separate from your login information so that an untrusted Teamfight Tactics or League of Legends: Wild Rift player can’t try to use it to gain access to your account.
