How to Change, Customize, and Add Apple Watch Faces.
Apple Watch provides several functions: timekeeping, fitness tracking, answering calls or messages, and so on. You can easily group and track these features by adding and customizing different Apple Watch faces.
Maybe you want to use different watch faces for different functions, like one watch face for fitness and another for messaging. Or maybe you just want different styles and colors for different moods. Whatever your needs, we’ll show you how to add watch faces to your Apple Watch, customize them with colors and extensions, and change your current Apple Watch watch face.
Add a Watch Face From the Face Gallery
To view the available Apple Watch faces, go to the Face Gallery on your iPhone. Open the Watch app and select the Face Gallery tab at the bottom.
You will see New Faces right at the top. Make sure you’ve updated to the latest versions of iOS and watchOS to check out the newest faces. Then you can view about 40 face categories.
You’ll find feature-specific options like Activity, Breathing, and Siri, as well as options that showcase the beauty of the screen and display, like Fireboy and Watergirl, Kaleidoscope, and Liquid Metal. You can choose from digital or analog timed faces, Disney characters, and even a great collection of enlarged faces for visually impaired people.
When you see the face you want to use, select it to see a description. If you want to use the face as is, click Add at the top of the details screen. This adds the face to the My Faces section of the My Watch tab, giving you quick access to it when you want to use it.
If you’d rather customize the face before adding it to your collection, skip to the next section for your options.
Customize an Apple Watch Face
You can customize your new watch face before or after you add it to My Faces. Either way, you have the same setup options. Please note that the options you see depend on the specific face you are using.
Customize appearance
The first thing you will adjust is the aesthetic appearance of the face. You may see options such as Color, Collection, Style, or Watch Face.
Some faces, such as Modular and Infograph, offer a selection of colors that enhance face elements. Others like Stripes and Typograph offer multiple designs.
Select Complications
Complications are parts of the face that perform various functions other than showing the time. These can include the date, weather, battery level, heart rate, and more.
The number of complications available also depends on the face you choose. Some faces, such as the Plain Face, may have five or six complications. Others, such as the Memoji watch face, may only have one or two complications.
Select a location under the “Complications” section. You will then see what complications are available for that location. Click to select the one you want and you will be automatically returned to the face details page to select the next one.
If you prefer not to use the extension for this location, select Off. at the top of the list.
Save settings
When you’re done adjusting the look and complexity of the face, you can save your changes.
For the new face you selected from the Face Gallery, click Add at the top to add it to My Faces.
For an existing watch face you’ve edited, press Back to return to the main My Watch screen.
Change Your Apple Watch Face
You have several ways to change the face you see on your Apple Watch.

Force click on the watch face and then click Edit. When the face is in edit mode, you will see the same options at the top of the face as when you set it up in the Watch app. Swipe right to view each section.
For appearance settings like color and style, rotate the Digital Crown to cycle through the options until you hit the one you want.
For complications, select a location on the watch face, rotate the Digital Crown to see the options, and then select the one you want to use.
When you’re done making changes, press the Digital Crown button to exit edit mode. Then touch the face to bring it back to the screen.
