If you use Zoom for work or personal purposes, you might find it helpful to know how to change your display name and background. We’ll walk you through how to give your Zoom account a new name and change the background using the Zoom mobile app or the Zoom desktop client.

How to Change Your Name on Zoom Before a Meeting
Imagine that you have a virtual Zoom interview scheduled for the end of this week. To prepare, you must log into your Zoom account and make sure everything is in order. Your display name must be professional. It’s usually best to use your full first and last name. When you use your full name, you can be sure to make a great first impression when you join a Zoom meeting.
Change your name on the Zoom website
If you’re on a desktop computer and using a web browser to access Zoom, you can sign in to the Zoom website to change your display name before an upcoming meeting.
Go to Zoom and sign in with your email address and password.
On the left sidebar, select Profile.
Select the “Edit” link to the right of your name.
Here you can change the display name. Your display name is what other meeting participants can see in the meeting window, so you need to change it.
While you’re on your profile page, you can also share your pronouns. (Note: This option is only available if you have version 5.7.0 or later installed.) Enter your pronouns and choose when you want to share them. The options available Always share in meetings and webinars, Ask me every time I join meetings and webinars, and Don’t share in meetings and webinars.
When you’re done, scroll down and click the Save button.
Optionally, you can add additional information to your profile on this page, such as your job title, company name, or location.
Change your name in the Zoom desktop app
If you have the Zoom client installed on your Mac or PC, you can change your display name before joining a meeting.
Launch the Zoom app on your computer and, if necessary, sign in to your account. In the upper right corner of the window, select your profile picture, and then select My Profile from the drop-down menu.< /ol>
A browser window will open and you will be redirected to your profile page on the Zoom website. Click Edit next to your profile picture. Enter a new display name and click Save.
Again, on your profile page, you can set up other information such as pronouns or titles.
Change your name in the Zoom mobile app
These instructions should work on iPhone and Android.
Open the Zoom app and sign in if necessary.
In the lower right corner, select “Settings”.
Select the banner at the top with your name and email address.
Touch Display Name.
Enter a new display name and click Save in the top right corner.
Whatever you change the display name to, other meeting participants will see it on the meeting screen.
How to Change Your Name on Zoom During the Meeting
To change your display name during a Zoom meeting:
At the bottom of the window, select Participants from the toolbar.
In the members panel that appears on the right, hover over your name. Click the “More” button and then select the “Rename” link.
In the pop-up window, enter a new display name and click OK.
Other meeting participants will now see your new display name.

How to enable virtual background
To enable the virtual background feature for your Zoom account users, follow these steps.
Sign in to the Zoom web portal using your account administrator credentials.From the menu on the left, select Account Management > Account Settings.
In the “In a meeting (advanced)” section of the “Meeting” tab, scroll down to “Virtual background” and make sure it’s enabled. If it is disabled, enable it using the toggle.
If you want to enable virtual backgrounds for your own use only (and not for all account users), follow these steps:
Sign in to the Zoom website.Select Settings from the navigation menu.In the Meeting tab, scroll down to the Virtual Background section and make sure virtual backgrounds are enabled. If the feature is disabled, select the status switch to enable it. Optionally, select the Allow video as virtual background check box.
Once virtual backgrounds are enabled, you can apply the virtual background during a meeting.
How to change the virtual background in the Zoom Desktop client
To change your virtual background in the Zoom desktop client, launch the client and sign in if necessary. Then do the following.
Select your profile picture and then select “Settings”.Select “Background & Filters”.
If you have a green screen, check the box I have a green screen. Select an image or video as your virtual background. If you want to upload an image or video, click the plus icon and choose Add Image or Add Video.
Note. You may be prompted to “Download Smart Virtual Background Pack” if this is your first time using this feature. In this case, click the “Download” button and the package will be installed automatically.
How to change the virtual background in the Zoom mobile app
In the Zoom mobile app for Android or iOS, you can easily change your virtual background.
During a meeting, press the “More” button.
Click “Background & Filters”.
Select your preferred background and press X to close and return to the meeting full screen.
Optionally, you can also configure the Apply to all appointments and Mirror my video at this time options.
