I recently searched the internet for free software to burn some CDs and DVDs at home, but then I realized that Windows already has Windows Explorer burning software built in. In fact, it has existed for many years, but it is so invisible that I completely forget about it.
Windows also gives you an excellent CD and DVD burning feature called the Live File System, which basically makes your CD or DVD act like a USB stick, meaning you can edit, add, and delete files on the disc just like on flash memory. disk.
In this article, I will show you how to easily burn a data disc using only Windows. Read my other post if you want to know how to burn audio CDs or playable DVDs
Burn CD / DVD in Windows
To get started, insert a CD or DVD into your Windows PC and you should see a dialog displayed either in the Action Center or as an autorun window.

If the dialog does not appear, just open Windows Explorer and double-click the CD / DVD drive icon. Another popup will ask you how you want to use this drive.
Give the disc a name and then choose if you want it to act like a USB stick or a mastering disc. The downside to using a flash drive is that you can only use the drive on computers running Windows XP and above. Obviously, if you are burning this disc for another device, such as a CD or DVD player, you should choose the second option.
Then you will get an empty explorer window where you can drag and drop the files you want to burn to disk. Your best bet is to open another explorer window with the files you want to write.
After you have copied all the files you want to burn, click Manage under Disk Tools and you will see the Finish Burn option. In Windows 7, you will see a “Burn to disc” option.
The recording wizard will appear and here you can select the recording speed. By default, it should automatically be set to the maximum speed that your drive can support.
Once the burn is complete, you should receive a success message and the ability to burn another disc.
That’s all! It is a very simple and straightforward process to burn a CD or DVD in Windows, and you no longer need to worry about finding and installing third-party software just to burn multiple discs. Enjoy!
