How to Build the Ultimate Super Bowl Smart Home Setup.
This Sunday, February 2, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs will battle it out in Super Bowl LIV for glory, bragging rights and the Vince Lombardi Trophy. For football fans across America, this is the most important day of the year. Parties are arranged without prohibitions. Fans will compete to throw the best party, just as fiercely as both teams will for the winning touchdown.
If you want to come out on top in the world of dog-eat-dog parties in the Super Bowl, let your smart home work for you. This article will be your guide to creating a smart home for the Super Bowl, a place that will make all your friends and family green with envy while you all watch the biggest game of the year in the coolest setting.
Step 1: TV
The TV is at the heart of any Super Bowl-focused smart home. You want to see every player and every game in crisp, clear detail. It goes without saying that the screen should be large enough so that guests scattered around the room can see without squinting.
A set like the 75-inch LG UHD 4K TV will do the trick – and since it has Alexa built in, you can control every aspect of your TV without a remote control. Just ask Alexa to adjust the volume, stream a game from your favorite streaming service, and more. If Alexa isn’t right for you, this TV also works with Google Assistant and supports AirPlay streaming.
Even if you choose a different TV, choose a smarter one. While you can connect a Chromecast or Fire Stick to give it smart capabilities, it’s much more convenient to enable those features automatically.
Step 2: Sound
Super Bowl parties are noisy. The last thing you need to do is skip an action or comment because of the applause (or, if your team isn’t so lucky, groans). A strong soundbar can carry sound throughout the room without the need for an expensive and hard-to-reach surround sound system.
The Sonos Beam is one of the best choices for the Super Bowl. It’s compact but has four full-range woofers and one tweeter to cover the entire audio range. It also works with both Amazon Alexa and Google Home, so when the game is complete and you’re ready to listen to music to relax, you can stream your favorite tunes directly to the soundbar.
Best of all, setup is simple. The Sonos Beam requires only two cords to function properly and automatically detects the remote. There is no need to go through a long pairing process.
Step 3: Atmosphere
Ambience is almost as important as TV and sound. You need to nail the lighting to represent your favorite team and there is no better option for that than the LIFX Z-TV Strip.
This strip fits on the back of your TV and illuminates the wall behind it. Pretty standard, right? It would be, except that the LIFX Z-TV Strip allows you to “colorize” each segment. One strip can display a dozen different colors. Color it in the colors of your favorite team to show your team spirit.
And since LIFX doesn’t require a hub, you don’t need to use extra space on your router – just connect each light directly to your Wi-Fi.
To enhance the effect, you can add some A19 size LIFX lamps to the rest of the lighting throughout the house.
One final note on lighting: if you want your smart lights to flash when your team scores, there are several options. The original method used the ESPN app, but it has since dropped support for its API and the original IFTTT recipe no longer works. We have not tested other options and cannot talk about their effectiveness.
Step 4: Food
One of the best things about any Super Bowl party is the sheer amount of delicious (often incredibly unhealthy) food. The good news is that food doesn’t have to be unhealthy; With a deep fryer, you can make regular Super Bowl snacks with a minimum of oil.
While they won’t win any food awards at the best of times, you can avoid some of the most unhealthy foods. The Cosori deep fryer allows you not only to fry food; There are 11 different presets for different cooking styles, all taking less time than usual.
Cleaning is easy too. Fryer baskets are dishwasher safe, so you can simply remove them from the fryer and throw them in the dishwasher to let the machine do all the work.
Step Five: Drinks
No Super Bowl party is complete without drinks. Of course, no one wants to get up and miss a moment of the game to have another drink. This is where the Sobro Smart coffee table comes in.
This coffee table, while expensive, has a built-in refrigerator. It also features two built-in Bluetooth speakers, USB chargers, 4 110V outlets, and even LED lighting.
The coffee table requires its own power supply, so you’ll have to plug it into an outlet. The best way to preserve your cable is by running it under the carpet or using a cord concealer. Otherwise, setting up your desk is as easy as plugging it in and letting it cool down.
