By then, you can start setting up!
The winning feature of this extension is the many options it gives you for how you decide to block sites.
You can only block sites during business hours. Just click “Work Mode” on the sidebar!
You can also set up parental controls using passwords, block adult sites, and block certain words.
Using uBlacklist
This works every time you do a Google search. When a site appears, there is an option to block it next to it.
Here’s how to get started with this extension.
Download it first. Search for uBlacklist in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
To see this in action, search on Google.
For example, I searched for “twitter”. After I have installed the extension, I see the “Block this site” option next to the search results.
Clicking on these options means that the specific website will not appear next time. This site can remain blocked for many years or until it is unblocked.
You can also just click the icon in the toolbar. A window will open where you can enter the name of the desired website.
Another way to approach this is to manage blocked sites.
First, find the uBlacklist icon in the toolbar. Right-click it and select Options.
You will then be presented with a list of options.
One option is to specify the website that you want to block. Just enter its address in the appropriate field.
Edit hosts file
Another option is to edit the hosts file. To do this, go to Windows> System32> Drivers> Etc. Right click on the hosts file.
Then open it with Notepad .
Scroll down to the hosts file.
You can leave it as it is. You can also remove content with hashes to get a clean file.
In any case, enter “127.0.0.1” followed by “localhost”.
Now enter the same group of numbers on the next line. But instead of typing “localhost”, enter the name of the website you want to block.
