How to Automatically Mute your Mac When it Wakes Up From Sleep.
Poppies are powerful machines. And if you have a MacBook, then chances are most of you won’t bother shutting down your system completely. My MacBook Pro once ran for 120 days and it still ran flawlessly (unlike my previous Dell Inspiron). I only shutdown or restart my Mac when a system update occurs or I am not going to use it for more than a week.
However, there is one small problem here. I often fall asleep listening to some of Ted’s videos at night, and the next morning when I turn on the Macbook in my office, everyone has to listen to what I listened to last night. Thankfully, Ted’s videos don’t grab people’s attention as much as other content on the Internet (rhymes with corn, cough! Cough!) But hey, we’re not judging.

But hey, I’m not judging, I’m the guy who offers solutions.
Log into AutoVolume. It is a free and open source application that automatically changes the volume of your Mac when it wakes up from sleep. So, after you install and configure the app, the next time you leave music or video on, the app will automatically mute when the system wakes up. So let’s see how it works.
Automatically mutes your Mac when it wakes from sleep mode
1. Download AutoVolume for the official site. It’s a small file (2.27 MB).
2. You can launch the application by double clicking the zip file, however you must install the application first to make sure it works every time. To do this, unzip it and install the program by dragging the AutoVolume icon into the Applications folder.
3. Then open the app and configure the 3 main parameters.
3.1 Start Marking When Logging In
3.2 Checkbox Enable
3.2. Move the volume slider all the way to the left to mute the sound.
4. Then close the window. Do not click Exit or the application will not run in the background. If you want to stop the automatic volume adjustment in the future, open the app again and tap Exit.
