Since Android 10, Google has made a lot of changes to Android (the name is populous). Other significant changes were gesture navigation, local machine learning, dark mode, and more, but in my opinion, the biggest changes were in privacy.

In Android 10, apps can only access your location when it’s running. Not only that, Google has introduced an activity manager and ad personalization on top of the settings menu. They now also let you automatically delete your internet search history, internet activity, app activity, search history, and YouTube history right from your phone. Well, here’s how to do it.

Auto delete to delete all Google activity

There is no single portal or web page to delete all of your Google activity at once. First, we will need to set up automatic deletion for App and Web Search History, which includes Google Assistant entries, Google Chrome search history, and Android app activity. Next, we will need to separately configure automatic deletion for YouTube activity.

This will clear your Google activities across all your Google devices like Google Home, Chromebook, Android Phone, etc.

1. Delete Google app and web search history.

In Android 10, Google created a separate privacy section in the Android settings menu. Open the settings menu and tap on the privacy option.

This privacy section allows you to access your permission manager, google location history, ad settings, and more on one screen. In the Privacy menu, click Advanced and then click Manage Actions in the Advanced menu. If you have multiple accounts registered on your Android device, you will be prompted to select one of them.

In the action management menu, you will see your app and web search history, location history and YouTube history. You cannot set automatic deletion for location history at this time, but you can do the same for internet and app activity and YouTube history. To do this, click on “Manage Activity” in the “Application and Web Search History” section. It will redirect you to your google activity webpage.

Scroll down your Google Activity page to the Select to be automatically deleted link. Click on it and you will be redirected to another web page that will offer you 3 options. The first is “Keep until I manually delete”, which was present earlier. But the other two, “Store for 18 months” and “Store for 3 months”, allow you to determine how long your data will be stored on Google’s server. Select any of them and click the “Next” button.

This deletion may affect your Google search and other personal preferences.

Now this immediately removes data from your activity page. But now Google will start a process to gradually remove it from their storage systems. In general, this will ensure that your web activity, Google Assistant voice recordings, and search history are immediately cleaned up and periodically deleted.

2. Delete YouTube history.

Once you’ve set automatic deletion for your app history and web search, location history and YouTube app history will still be supported. You cannot configure automatic deletion for location history. For now, Google allows manual deletion. Google still does not allow automatic deletion. But for YouTube activity, you can still set up automatic deletion. Scroll down to the bottom of the Activity Controls and click on Activity Controls under the YouTube History section.

You must follow the same procedure as above to enable automatic deletion of YouTube search history.

3. Remove google actions via web app.

If you are not using Android 10, you will need to visit the Manage My Activities web page. On this page you will find the same “Select for automatic deletion” link. After clicking, you can specify how long you want to keep your data, and then click the Next button.
