How To Archive or Delete a Google Classroom 2022.
Whether you’re a teacher or tutor, Google Classroom provides a virtual learning space through which you can assign assignments, grade, and provide feedback to your students.
The best thing about the platform is that you can create as many classes as you like. If you feel like your class has run out and is no longer needed, you can deactivate or delete the class to make room in the virtual classroom.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to archive or uninstall Google Classroom on the desktop and mobile versions of the app.
What Happens When You Archive or Delete a Google Classroom
You can archive or delete a course when you’re done with it, but there is a difference between the two.
Archiving a class is like “deactivating” it, so it remains dormant and unused. The course will not appear in your active courses, but it still exists in a separate area of Google Classroom.
In addition, archiving a course will keep your work — all course materials, attachments, messages, and comments — in the classroom for you or your students to view and access. However, they cannot update the materials or exit the archived course.
You can also uninstall or uninstall Google Classroom permanently. Unlike course archiving, which can be done by a teacher or co-teacher, only the primary teacher can delete Google Classroom.
How To Archive a Google Classroom
Google Classroom offers an archiving feature in the settings menu that allows teachers or other teachers to archive a class from a computer or mobile device.
The archiving feature comes in handy at the end of a semester or semester, so you can save study materials and organize them as you move to other courses.
Note. The Archived feature will not appear on the menu if you have not archived any courses.
Computer
You can access Google Classroom from a web browser on a Windows PC or Mac to archive the course.
Open Google Classroom on your computer and select More (ellipsis) in the upper right corner of the card for the class you want to archive.
Select “Archive”.
In the pop-up window that appears, select “Archive” to confirm your action.
Click the stacked line icon on the Classes page to see the archived class, and then select Archived Classes.
Note. If you have not archived any course, you will not see the Archived Classes option in the menu.
Android and iPhone
You can also archive the course via the Google Classroom app on your mobile device.
Open the Google Classroom app and tap More (ellipsis) on the card of the class you want to archive.
Click “Archive”.
Restore an Archived Google Classroom
If you want to see the archived class card again with active classes, you can restore the class and reuse all materials, posts, assignments, and comments.
Open Google Classroom on your computer or mobile device and select or tap Menu.
Select or tap Archived Courses.
Then select or tap More (ellipses)> Restore on the course card.
Select “Restore” to confirm the action.
How To Delete a Google Classroom
Deleting Google Classroom will terminate access to any posts and comments in the classroom. However, you and your students can use the appropriate link to access the class files in the Google Drive folder.
Note. The course must be archived before deleting. The deletion is permanent, so only do this if you are sure you will never use this class again.
Computer
You can uninstall Google Classroom from the web browser on your computer (PC or Mac).
Open Google Classroom and select Menu.
Select “Archived Courses”.
Then select Extras (ellipses) in the upper right corner of the course card for the course you want to delete.
Select “Uninstall”.
Then select Delete again to confirm the action.
Android or iPhone
If you have the Google Classroom app on your Android or iPhone, you can delete the course that you archived in the first section.
Open the Google Classroom app and select More (ellipsis) in the upper-right corner of the course card for the course you are deleting.
Click Remove.
Then click “Delete” again to confirm the action.
Note. Only elementary school teachers can uninstall Google Class.
How To Leave a Google Classroom
If you are a student, you can leave an archived course to remove it from your account. Your teacher will still have all of your assignments, posts, and comments.
Open Google Classroom in a browser or mobile app and select Menu.
Select or tap “Classes”.
Then select or tap More (ellipsis) in the upper-right corner of the course card for the course you want to leave.
Select or tap “Unregister”.
