How to add IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes Ratings on Netflix

How to add IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes Ratings on Netflix.

With so many movies and TV shows on Netflix, it can sometimes be hard to decide what you want to watch next. Netflix used to show some ratings and later chose a match percentage, which doesn’t show any details about the movie.

In the past, I’ve used a Chrome extension like NEnhancer, Rateflix and the Netflix Rate extension that adds IMDB ratings to the Netflix desktop. But after a recent update to Netflix’s UI, none of them seem to work. Enter Trim, a new Google Chrome extension that adds IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes ratings to the new version of Netflix.

How to add an IMDB assessment to Netflix

Install Trim from the Google Chrome Store.

Go to Netflix (if it’s already open, refresh the page), you can see the IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes ratings in the upper right corner of the thumbnails on the Netflix homepage.

Clicking on the ratings will open the websites for that movie or TV show IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. But it doesn’t give ratings for the entire episode like the RateFlix extension used to show.

In any case, Trim has the option to disable low-rated movies or TV shows. To enable this, click the extension icon and set the IMBD Rating Threshold and Rotten Tomatoes Rating Threshold, and then click Hide Low Rated Items.

This will cause all movies and TV shows below the threshold you set to disappear.

Add IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes reviews on Netflix (Android | iOS)

There doesn’t appear to be a quick way to check IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes ratings on your Android or iOS devices. For now, I’m using Google Assistance (or you can use Siri if you have an iPhone) to find out the IMDB rating.

For example, suppose I plan to watch The Dark Knight on Netflix and want to know how people rated it on IMDB, then just press the Home button on the Netflix app and say “IMDB Dark Knight Rating”. Ideally, Google’s help should voice the rating directly, but instead it takes you to a new page and opens the IMDB page of that movie. It takes a few extra taps to go back, but it works.

Update:

Finally, there is an Android app that will display IMDb ratings in the Netflix app. Just download Flutter from the Google Play Store. Open the app and tap Configure Settings Manage Supported Apps Enable for the Netflix setting. Then click on the “Activate Flutter” button at the bottom of the screen. Next, Flutter will ask you to enable accessibility in the settings. Let’s do it. After that, the next time you open the Netflix app, you will see a small pop-up with the IMDB rating for that movie and TV show.

Our friends at Fixed have developed a Chrome extension to implement IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes ratings on Hulu. You can find it here.
