How to Find a Missing App on Android

If you are using app folders and one or more of them are showing up on your Android phone screen, open them and look for the missing app. If you find it there, press and hold the app and drag it outside the folder boundary. Then release the app back to the home screen.

Add app from app drawer
If an Android app is downloaded to your smartphone but is not displayed on your home screen, you can manually add it to your phone’s home screen from the app drawer.To add one of your installed apps back to your home screen, follow these steps:
- Open the Android home screen and swipe up from the bottom of the screen. This will open App Organizer, where you will see all the apps installed on your Android phone.
- Find the app you want to add to your home screen. You can either scroll through the list of apps or use the search bar at the top of the screen to find your app.
- Select and hold an application.
- You will see a menu with options. Select Add to Home.
The app icon should now appear in the top right corner of your home screen on your Android device.If you have an Android phone and not a Pixel or Samsung Galaxy model, the instructions for adding apps to your home screen may differ slightly. Once you find the app in your app drawer, press and hold and then drag the app anywhere on the home screen.On some Android phones, to add apps to the home screen, you will need to access the app drawer, open the menu, and go to Control > Select > Add.
Re-enable the app in the Google Play Store
Some apps on your phone can be disabled. This is most likely to happen if the app you are missing from the screen is a system app. You cannot uninstall a system app, but you can disable it.A disabled app will not appear on the home screen or in the app drawer. You will need to go to the Google Play Store to enable the app again. To re-enable the app on Android, follow these steps.
- On an Android device, open the Google Play Store app.
- In the Play Store, select the profile icon to open the menu.
- From the menu, select App and Device Management.
- Open the Control tab. There you will see a complete list of your applications.
- Select the application you want to re-enable.
- Click the green Enable button below the application name.
The app should now appear in your app drawer and you can use the method described earlier to add it to your home screen.
Show hidden apps
Not every app on your Android is easy to find unless you know exactly where to look. Some apps may be hidden on the home screen and in the app drawer, but they are still installed on your phone.To find hidden apps on Android, follow these steps.
- On an Android device, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the app drawer.
- In the application drawer, open the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Select Hide Applications from the list of options.
- If this results in a blank screen, there are no hidden apps on your smartphone. If you find the app you’re looking for in this list, uncheck the next to it to display the app.
If you don’t see the Hide Apps option in the app drawer menu, it may mean that there are no hidden apps or that there are no hidden apps on your Android phone. does not support this feature. If so, you can find your hidden apps in your phone’s settings.Navigate to Settings > Applications > View all apps on your phone to access the list of apps. If you want a system app, open the three-dot menu at the top of the screen and select Show System.
Reinstall missing app
Let’s say you’ve found an app in your app drawer, but you can’t add it to your home screen. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app may fix this issue. Follow the steps below to reinstall the faulty app.
- On an Android device, open the Google Play Store.
- Select the profile image icon to open the menu.
- Select App & Device Control.
- Click on the Management tab to view a complete list of installed applications.
- Find the app you want to reinstall on your phone and select it. Select Delete or basket icon.
- After the app is removed from your phone, search for it in the Play Store and install it on your smartphone again.
The newly installed app should automatically appear on the home screen. If it doesn’t, you can do it manually via the App Drawer.
How to Remove an App From Android Home Screen
