How I Remove my Picture from Google in Less than 5 Minutes.
So here’s the problem. Instead, I start a YouTube channel (no, that’s not the problem), Google indexes the video thumbnails and links them to my name. So, if anyone searches for “Mrinal Saha” in a google image search, all they see is my YouTube icon, which honestly isn’t my best first impression image. Likewise, if you’ve recently discovered some of you unflattering images showing up in Google searches, here’s how you can remove them from Google.
According to Google Support, you can directly ask Google (by filling out this form) to remove images that contain sensitive personal information, such as a credit card number, your signature, or a nudity image, without consent. More often than not, however, your images do not fall into these categories. In such situations, you can use the following workaround.
How to remove my picture from Google
1. Go to Google Images and find the image you want to delete. In my case, I am looking for my name, and as you can see, it also shows my YouTube thumbnails.
2. Right-click the thumbnail of the image you want to remove from Google search and select Copy Link Address.
3. Then click this link to go to the “Remove obsolete content” section, paste the URL in the box next to “Request removal” and click “Request removal”.
4. Then you will see the message “We think the image or web page you are trying to delete has not been deleted by the site owner.” You have two options here.
4.1. If the images you want to remove are hosted on your own websites, just update the alt text (in my case, I removed my name from the title, description, and video tags).
4.2. If images are uploaded to third-party websites, simply ask the webmaster to remove the images or update the alt text. To make it more effective, you can talk about how the image was uploaded without your consent and how uncomfortable it is for you. Remember, you always have the option of filing a DMCA complaint if it doesn’t match your request.
After that, click Yes next to the images that were updated / removed from the source and click Next.
Repeat the same steps for all images you want to remove from Google search. Google may take some action on your images in a day or two, so be patient.
In my case, it took them 24 hours to delete all the images that I submitted for deletion.
Remove photos from Google
Even if you removed images from Google search, they can still appear on the original website. In my case, they were just sketches, so it doesn’t really matter. But if you are dealing with sensitive images, it makes sense to double check all other search engines and social media sites.
