Here is How to Enable Dark Mode on YouTube Android App.
If you don’t live under the cliff, you may have heard rumors that YouTube has been testing dark mode for a while now. A few months ago, YouTube introduced dark mode in the web browser. Just click your profile icon in the upper right corner and select Dark Theme. But you know what, now you can get dark mode in the YouTube Android app too.
So far, I’ve used YouTube Vance, a modified version of YouTube for dark mode and background playback. But now that there is dark mode in the official YouTube app, I can jump ships.
Here’s how to turn on dark mode in the YouTube Android app.
First of all, if you don’t have automatic updates enabled, open the Play Store app, search for YouTube, and update it to the latest version of YouTube if you can update. If you don’t see an update option, you might already have the latest version. To find out which version you have, press and hold the YouTube app and open the App Information page. YouTube Dark Mode is available in version 13.35.51 and newer.
Then, to turn on dark mode, open YouTube, click on your profile picture in the upper right corner and select “Settings”. Select “General”.
On the next screen, select “Dark Theme”. This should be the second option on the list.
And it’s all. You should see all the white background colors change to black / gray. It also works in both landscape and portrait mode.
What if I don’t see the dark theme option?
If you live, I have not seen the dark theme option, although the app is updated, you can restart the app or even force close and it should work. After enabling dark mode, the background color of the main menu will change to dark gray. What do you think of YouTube dark mode? Let us know in the comment.
