Getting Started With Apple TV+.
On November 1, 2019, Apple finally entered the hot streaming market with Apple TV +. A subscription service offering original content from the beloved lifestyle brand. Since you’ve likely already subscribed to Hulu, Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime Video, or any combination of the above, another content provider seems like a stretch.
The good news is that you probably won’t have to invest to try this service. Even better news is that we’re going to discuss the most important things you need to know to get you started if you decide to give Apple a shot.
How to get an Apple TV +
To become a subscriber, you need an Apple ID. If you own any Apple hardware, you probably already have an Apple ID. If not, you will need to register it first before moving on. You can subscribe to the Apple TV app on any device that supports it.
The service costs $ 4.99 a month, but everyone gets a 7-day free trial, which, as you’ll see, is more than enough to keep the content happy. If you recently bought an Apple device, you may also be eligible for a one-year free trial.
Just sign in to your Apple account on this new device and when you open the Apple TV app you should get an offer. What’s more, everyone in your family group has access on their devices.
Users who are currently using an Apple Music Student subscription can also qualify for the free Apple TV + add-on. Thus, Apple has made it easier for potential subscribers to try their entertainment offerings for little or no money.

Apple’s other two major services, Music and Arcade, have proven to be both popular and good. However, there is currently no indication that the values ??of the three services will be merged.
Where can I watch Apple TV +?
Apple TV is available on every Apple device with a screen. iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV and macOS support this service. However, Apple has been smart about providing versions of the Apple TV app for other devices as well.
Some recent Samsung Smart TVs have the app, but you need to confirm that your brand and Smart TV has it installed first. Roku and Amazon streaming devices also have an app, but Android users are out of luck at this time.
However, Apple has ported its music app to Android, so never say never!
What is the displayed content?
At launch, the amount of content on earth is fairly small. Apple places great emphasis on original content, which has proven to be very successful for market leader Netflix. It is possible that the content being launched will be overclocked during the free trial. However, new shows and episodes will be released regularly.
As far as the quality of the content on offer is concerned, this is largely subjective. Reviews for shows like For All Humanity have been mixed. However, since you can try these programs for free, the best strategy is to simply try a few episodes from the currently presented shows.
The list of upcoming releases is also pretty respectable, so if you do sign up after the trial period ends, it might well be worth staying with it.
Use the application
We’re using the app on iPad Pro, so expect some layout differences on Smart TV and iPhone. Overall, however, the Apple TV app works the same.
Apple TV + doesn’t have its own app. Instead, it’s just a feed added to the existing Apple TV app. This has probably saved Apple when it comes to development costs, but it leaves the feeling that the user experience is a little chained.
This also means that you have to be careful when pressing. Much of what you see in the app is not currently included with Apple TV + subscriptions. These are mostly books for rent or direct purchases, which means you have to be careful when handing your tablet or phone to children. Be sure to ask for a password for every purchase, or activate Ask to Buy on your child’s device if they use an Apple ID for kids.
Assuming you’ve finished activating your Apple TV + subscription, launch the app and you’ll see a screen like this.
Now scroll down until you see the available channels. This may vary by region.
Click on Apple TV +.
Here you can see what shows are currently on offer on the channel. Now they are few, but other programs are in development. The interface works fine given the small number of headers, but it can get a little more complex as the library starts to expand.
Keep in mind that the “search†feature at the bottom of the screen not only searches for content on Apple TV +, but also for content that will have to pay extra!
To start watching, touch any show you are interested in and you will be taken to its page.
Now just click to play or continue and enjoy the show.
Wait and see
This is just the beginning for Apple TV +. Huge money has been invested in original content and second seasons of premiere shows have already been confirmed, so there is sure to be something worthwhile.
It is possible that during the 7-day trial for new subscribers, all starter content will not feel random. This way, you can literally try everything that Apple TV + has to offer at launch without paying a cent.
Again, remember that if someone in your Family Sharing plan purchased Apple hardware shortly before Apple TV + launches, they may also be eligible for free for a year.
