Enable Display Accommodations On iOS.
IOS devices are extremely user-friendly by default, making them an attractive option for shoppers looking for a feature phone or tablet that works well right out of the box.
However, many people don’t realize the scale of Apple’s accessibility settings. The point is that the default phone settings are not suitable for everyone and there are options that can be customized to suit each individual’s needs.
Earlier, we went into detail about the accessibility settings in iOS related to touch settings.
Below we’ll take a look at how to enable display on iOS. We’ll cover the most commonly used settings, most of which are for people with different types of color blindness or sensitivity to certain types or shades of light. However, we recommend that you explore the settings yourself and see what kind of help iOS offers.
There are a few different options, but the first few steps are the same regardless of the type of what you’re looking for in terms of display placement on iOS.
IOS Screen Accessibility Settings
Step 1. Go to the Settings app on your iOS device.
–
Step 2. Scroll down and tap the General tab.
Step 3. Click on the Accessibility category.
Step 4. Click on “Display Placement”.
Step 5. In this step, you will be presented with two main options for adapting the display: “Invert Colors” and “Color Filters”. Choose the option that interests you and proceed to the steps described in the sections below.
Invert the colors
The Invert Colors tab is pretty simple and gives several different options for users who would like to use their phone with a dark background rather than a light one. This is a great solution for those who are sensitive to bright light or simply for those who prefer a darker color scheme to their device.
Click on Smart Invert if you want your phone to invert all the colors on your phone, except those used on certain types of media that already use dark colors. Alternatively, you can use classic inversion to completely change the display colors without paying too much attention to the media.
Turn on color filters
There are a few more options worth discussing when it comes to color filters, as Apple has created separate settings for different types of color blindness as well as sensitivity and color sensitivity.
Step 1. Select Color Filters on the display placement page to open the window below. The default layout will display a series of colored pencils, but you can also swipe right to see a few other options.
Each of these three options is designed to help you figure out which mode will work for your specific type of color blindness.
Step 2. Turn on the Color Filters button and you will be presented with three different filter options that will adjust the iOS color scheme to suit the needs of fully color blind users: protanopia, deuteranopia, and tritanopia.
When you select each mode, your screen instantly adjusts to match the changes. For each option, you also have the option to adjust the intensity of the filter using a dedicated slider.
Adjust color tone
Adjust the color tone
Another option available through iOS Display Adaptation is the ability to add and customize a color cast. This option is at the bottom of the Color Filters menu list described above.
Step 1. Select “Color Tone” to open a menu with two different sliders.
Step 2. Just as you can adjust the intensity of the color blind filters, there is a slider to do this for the hue as well. The Tint slider changes the tint color, allowing you to choose a screen tint that is most comfortable for your eyes. This is a great option for those who are sensitive to the default hue or are better at seeing certain hues.
Overall, it appears that Apple is well-serving users who need modifications to use their phones. In addition to these options for inverting colors, applying filters, and adjusting screen tint, you will find a host of other options in the Accessibility tab that provide almost everything you need to effectively use iOS. Enjoy!
