1. Find the WiFi password on Windows 7/8/10

Did you know that Windows stores all the Wi-Fi passwords you’ve ever connected to? Not just the current Wi-Fi network. And you can find it quickly by running a simple command in cmd or by going to network settings.

Method 1 – Use cmd

The fastest way to find WiFi password on Windows is to use the command line. This even works for Wi-Fi networks that you’ve connected to before. However, you will need to remember their SSID (WiFi name) where appropriate in order to recover their password. So here’s how to do it.

Just open cmd and enter the following command.

netsh wlan show WiFiName profile key = clear

Here replace WiFiName with your SSID (or the name of the network you have connected to in the past) . And it’s all. Scroll down until you see the security setting and next to the key content is your password.

The second method – using the network settings

If you prefer a graphical interface, go to your Web and the Clearinghouse. To do this, right-click the wireless network icon in the system tray and select “Open Network and Sharing Center”.

Then click the WiFi name a new window will open, select Wireless Property Click the Security tab and check the Show Symbols checkbox to see the hidden password.

Note. In Windows 8 and 10, it is not possible to find the Wi-Fi password for a network you have connected to using the GUI approach. You need to use cmd for this.

# 2 Find WiFi Password on Mac OS

As with Windows, you can also find the Wi-Fi password for the current network as well as the previously connected network. But now you need “admin rights” to see the Wi-Fi password. There is no way to find Wi-Fi password in Mac OS unless you need an administrator password.

So here’s how to do it.

Start by hitting cmd + space to bring up the highlight and look for “Keychain Access”.

Alternatively, you can also go to / Applications / Utilities / Keychain Access.

Here you will see a list of all Wi-Fi networks. But before making any changes, you need to unlock the lock.

Now scroll down until you see your current WiFi name (or use the search bar at the top).

Once you find the WiFi name double click it show password enter your MAC login password. And now you have the Wi-Fi password of this network.

If you don’t have access to admin password, then there is no way to find WiFi password in MAC. But there is a workaround mentioned at the end of the article.

# 3 Find WiFi Password on Linux

To find the Wi-Fi password in Linux (tested on Ubuntu) open Terminal , type this command and press Enter. It will ask you for a user password, enter it and press Enter again. And now you have a list of connections and their password.

sudo grep psk = / etc / NetworkManager / system-connections / *

This asterisk will display all connections and their keys. If you want to see the keys for a specific network, replace the asterisk with the network SSID.

# 4 Find WiFi Password on Android

As far as Android goes, it’s even harder than Mac OS. Why? Because the file that stores the Wi-Fi passwords is encrypted and inaccessible to ordinary users. You will need root access to view its contents. There is no way to see it without root access. Even if you root it now, it will erase all data and go offline
