Check All Hyperlinks in a MS Word Document in Seconds

When writing a long-term article, company manual, or another long document in Word, it’s almost impossible to avoid inserting hyperlinks. Hyperlinks to relevant web pages can make the content of a document more powerful.

The problem is that the longer the document, the more difficult it is to do a final check on each hyperlink before sending the document to the authorities. A dead link can be a big nuisance!

Also, if you received a document from someone and need to go through all the links, it can take a long time.

Check links in your Word document

Fortunately, there is a Word add-in that can extract all hyperlinks from a Word document and check them all at once, regardless of the number of links or the length of the document. Ironically, this is called Hyperlink Checker for Word

Once installed, Hyperlink Checker for Word will appear in the Word toolbar next to the Add-Ins tab in a new tab for AbleBits.com, the add-in creator.

After clicking the tab, click the icon on the right for the Hyperlink Checker for Word

The add-in then checks all links in your document with question marks next to links that might be mislabeled or invalid.

To see only those links that might have problems, click the Suspicious button.

Hyperlinks marked as suspicious will have an add-on tag attached, which you can see by clicking the link title. The note will appear at the bottom of the window.

If you only want to see hyperlinks in a specific range of pages, you can specify that. You can also select text in the document and set up hyperlink checking for that area only.

Thus, checking hyperlinks does not have to take an entire day. The Hyperlink Checker can narrow down the number of links that need your immediate attention in seconds, reducing the scrolling hours for links in really long documents.

Hyperlink Checker for Word is available at AbleBits.com. Enjoy!
