1 – Midori CL Slide Ruler Clear (42260006)

Everything you could want in a slide roller .
Before calculators and watchs, this was it.Over the last several decades I lost the skills to use this, good entertainment. .
I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s when scientists and engineers routinely used slide rules for basic calculations. Calculators were not available. Although this product may be finely manufactured, it is not what was commonlyknown in those days as a slide rule. It is a vernier caliper. It may be a good one, I don’t know. I have not purchased one and do not intend to. I can see from the photographs that it is not a slide rule. I feel sorry for the reviewer who claimed to have forgotten how to work it. It won’t work as a slide rule because it is a caliper. Marketing it as a slide rule is borderline fraudulent among us older people. There may be no case because the definition of slide rule is probably not legally defined by statute. .
It is a rule you can slide, lmao it is not a SLIDE RULE !!! .

3 – INCRA T-RULE18 Precision Marking T-Ruler, 18″

it sure can save a lot of time. I’ve had the 6-inch version for years and recently purchased the 12-inch model. There have been some slight changes in the manufacturing process. The bottom one in the picture, which is the old six-inch version, has all the markings sharply engraved. The 12-inch one looks embossed or stamped, which leaves the lines a bit thicker. Both work beautifully to draw lines exactly where you want them to be, which is obviously it’s purpose. I’ve used them with a sharply pointed scribe to draw lines on aluminum and with a 0.5mm lead mechanical pencil to draw on wood. It’s infinitely faster (and more accurate) than drawing a couple of tic marks with a tape measure and then connecting them with a line. The T-Rules are made out of 10mil stainless steel. Unscrewing the knobs lets you remove the T-Rule from the base and use it as a stand-alone measuring rule. The thinness of the plate pretty much eliminates parallax error. The red aluminum extrusion has a rear ledge that the stainelss steel plate butts up against to ensure it stays at right angles when you reattach it.My only suggestion (for Incra) is that the red right-angle piece should be a couple inches longer in the 12-inch version. You have to be careful when drawing a line not to pull the rule out of square with the edge of the board. That’s never been a problem with the six-inch version. It is with the 12-inch, but this is still a five-star device. Don’t abuse it and it should last practically forever. .
This thing is the bee’s knees folks! When your project calls for the utmost in accuracy, this will work great for you, and it’s very easy to use. simply set on assn edge, put your mechanical pencil in the desired hole, slide, and mark away. This can also be used to set your but heights on your router table or other things, as it has depth markings on the end. My only complaints are that this is flimsy, very flimsy. For the price incra could make this a lot thicker. Be very careful using it and storing it. It will bend very easily using it or, if you set something on top of it. They should also include a storage box for it as it needs one to prevent being damaged. There is one thing that they don’t tell you in the description. You will need a thin tip, mechanical pencil for marking in the holes, due to the holes being so small. Incra should also include that as well. Other than those things, it’s a fantastic design, and a great tool that’s as nessesity to the shop. .
I make trim rings and face plates and adaptor plates for Marine Electronics everything is made for show , Material is expensive and measurement mistakes are not tolerated by the customer on expensive boats. This tool has eliminated minor parallax errors in measuring with rules and saved me time and money. I find the fact that it is flexible to be an asset, my workpieces often are bordered by concave or convex fiberglass radius’s and this tool bends and allows an accurate measurement. One mistake can easily cost me more than the price of this measuring tool in time and material. Hat’s off to INCARA ! .
Beautifully accurate marking instrument. Almost too many increments. Requires a very thin mechanical pencil (wants .3mm or .5mm lead. The common .7mm doesn’t fit in the guide holes, and .5mm has to be twisted in). Requires a strong light to be able to read the fine increments. I’d like a version with fewer increments, bigger hashmarks and .7mm guide holes. .

4 – Midori CL Slide Ruler Black (42259006)

Good quality .
Junk .
Takes precision of measurement to 0.1mm. Got it originally for my eleven year-old but still trying to explain how to use vernier scale to him. .
It’s plastic. It is not aluminum as other Midori rulers. It is well made but it is not in the level of other similar products from Midori. Shipping takes a while but it is acceptable. .

5 – Victor EZ12PBL Plastic Dual Color 12 Easy Read Ruler with Inches, Centimeters and Millimeters Measurements, Blue/Black

VERY disappointed with this ruler. Though you cannot tell from the images, the ruled markings are printed on a piece of paper/fabric that is then GLUED to the metal. This is absolutely unacceptable for a device used to accurately measure anything. Take heed Victor, your customers are on to your tricks and shortcuts. No doubt some sales flunkies decided this would increase profit margins by .0005 % over a more robust and quality-driven design. .
The concept of this ruler is very imaginative. Not only are there hash marks at 1/16th inch intervals but they are all clearly marked and make reading the measurement a breeze. Additionally, the ruler has metric which is also exceedingly easy to read. Unlike some rulers that have standard measurements going one direction and metric going the opposite direction, this ruler has standard and metric going the same direction. The benefit is you can use either scale and quickly make conversions.I had a lot of hope for this ruler and hope the manufacture will make some modifications to make it a viable tool. But as received by me, the ruler is unacceptable. First, the zero hash mark is 2mm from the beginning of the ruler which is NOT the way it is pictured on Amazon. You can not butt the end of the ruler up to an item you are measuring and get an accurate reading. Of course, you could always remember to deduct 2mm from any reading you get but why should a consumer be made to jump through hoops because a manufacturer failed to think things through. Of equal significance is the build quality, or should I say lack thereof. When I received my ruler the “overlay” that is glued to the plastic ruler was coming unattached. My first question would be: Why didn’t they screen print the image directly onto the ruler? My second question would be: Why didn’t they use a better glue to attach the overlay? There are several of these rulers offered by different sellers. I think I saw one that is made of metal and not plastic. My ruler was plastic and from the Seller listed above. I can not speak to the quality of other Seller’s products.I would easily give this item 5 stars and more but for the build quality. It is innovative, useful, convenient and makes measuring all that much easier. In a world where the maxim is “measure twice and cut once” anything that can aid in accuracy is a God send. .
This is definitely a ‘Do Not Buy’ I was hoping that the ruler had the numbers embedded in it! This is actually a sticker on top of a clear piece. I just got it today, and the sticker is already coming off of the corner. .
I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before ordering. The description never mentions that the measurements are a stick on paper label. They lead you to believe it is engraved into stainless steel. Also the measurements did not start at the end of the ruler. On the one I got the measurement was off by about a 1/16″ because of how the label was applied. I do agree that it is good for someone learning to read a ruler. Just not what I needed or thought I was getting. Note to self: Do not order anything until you look at the reviews! .
