2 – Number Pad, ROTTAY Mechanical USB Wired Numeric Keypad with Blue LED Backlit 22-Key Numpad for Laptop Desktop Computer PC – Black (Blue switches)
Top Reviews
It’s been a week since I’ve had this keypad, and I mainly use it for a rhythm game called osu!. Here are my thoughts about this keypad.PROS:-This comes with actual mechanical switches, not the mechanical-feel switches. I don’t know what other keypads have, but mine came with Outemu Blue Switches.-Nice footprint. It’s easy to reach most, if not all of the switches (based on hand size) while resting your wrist on the table.-Although it’s made of plastic, the build quality seems reasonable enough so that the keypad doesn’t break easily.CONS:-The LEDs are a little bit dull compared to most other keyboards/keypads that I have.-The number lock light on the top left is too small and not in an easy position to see. It would be nice if when you press the Number Lock key, then the LED for that key turn on and off to represent when the Number Lock function is active.SOME MINOR GRIPES:-There’s not a lot for me to say here, but I did notice that when I first unboxed the keypad, one of the rubber feet were missing.-Some might like rubber feet on their keyboards, but this keypad does not come with rubber feet (or any feet) to adjust the angle of the keypad.-Of course, there is no RGB, although I do not care about that aspect.-Expect a lot of noise when using this keypad, because these are tactile blue switches.Overall, this is a great keypad for its $17 price tag. Yes, slight corners were cut, but the ultimate aspect of the keypad, the mechanical switches, were spot on. I will post updates when necessary. .
Good value for money in a 10-key numpad with good clicky mechanical switches (Outemu blue if you’re curious). Build quality is solid.Minor complaints: key backlighting is a deep blue that doesn’t really light the keypad super well, especially during daylight hours. White backlighting would have been better. Also, the keypad definitely has a ping sound to it when you’re hitting the keys if that bothers you.But compared to the other mechanical numpads out there, this is still a really good value and pretty high quality all and all. .
I haven’t seen any reviews specifically mention the keycaps and their sizing, so I figured I would .All of the keycaps and switches on this pad are Cherry MX compatible, which means that you can swap the included mediocre keycaps with anything compatible with Cherry MX stems. However, only MOST of the keycaps are standard ANSI size. If you compare this with an ANSI keypad, you will notice the + key here is not the standard double size, but instead single, so that they could fit a backspace key in above. Also, there is an extra row at the top with four extra keys (esc, calculator, tab, and =).So, as you can see from my layout, even if you swap a few keys here and there, it will not be possible to swap all the keycaps without having more than one set of extras – and even then you will have to get creative as tab and backspace aren’t standard size. Also, the escape, tab, backspace and equals keys report as they would on a standard keyboard – meaning that even if you swap the keycaps, they cannot be macro’d or remapped in Windows without losing the functionality of said key on your regular keyboard. eg if you change the function of the tab key to volume_up, it will change both the keypad’s tab and your other keyboard’s tab key, and whenever you hit tab from either one, you’ll be pumping up the jams and not tabbing There is a way around this using certain macro software, but this software will trigger several different gaming anti-cheat programs, including VAC, so I don’t use it. I do use AutoHotkey to enable the use of my volume keys, and it won’t trigger anti-cheat.The only other thing to mention regarding my layout is that because I couldn’t replace the top row with my volume keys, I had to place them elsewhere, and their heights don’t match the other keys in their respective rows. But, since I don’t have my hand on the pad all the time, it doesn’t bother me much. All that said, I bought this primarily to improve my mouse/keyboard ergonomics for competitive gaming. I replaced my full size Ducky keyboard with a Vermilo TKL and this so that I could retain the macro/hotkey functionality of a numpad, while allowing me to have my hands in a more natural position for gaming. It works perfectly for that. The switches are clicky and tactile, as blues should be. The cable feels very cheap, and I have been careful to not pull or bend it too far because I have no doubt it would cause problems. The pad itself is somewhat light, and would be improved with some extra weight added inside the case. Lastly there is no angle/height adjustment, so be prepared to prop it up if you’re into that sort of thing. The thing is, this is currently the cheapest mechanical keypad on Amazon at $17, so all of those things are forgivable. If you’re curious about the custom keycaps I am using, the full set is the Akko x Ducky Queen keyset, with the light blue keys being Tai-Hao neon (or light) blue rubber keycaps. .
Good quality number pad. A nice addition if you have a good quality shortened keyboard, and want to add a number pad that’s positioned somewhere else. I have mine placed such that if I extend my arm, it’s just at the right distance. The number 5 in the center has a tactile mark on it, so it’s easy to align to it, and type without looking, while resting my wrist on the table.Advantages:- Uses real mechanical switches, keys feel like they should, with satisfying clicks.- Plug-and-play setup for Windows 10, did not have to fiddle with drivers- Rubber feet on the bottom prevent sliding.Disadvantages:- Would be nicer if the number pad were a bit heavier. I don’t need it to be portable.- Does not have rear feet that fold out to adjust the angle (not an issue for me, but something that’s usually present)- Backlit blue color brightness is not adjustable .

3 – ASA CX-3 Flight Computer

This was a life saver for the Commercial Airplane (CAX) knowledge exam! Used sheppard air to memorize all the rote memory answers, and used this to calculate all of the number answers. 98% on the exam! .
I purchased the Sportie’s E6B and found it to be clunky, the buttons reminded me of one of those cheap calculators you buy from Walmart. The ASA buttons are all one piece which makes it feel seamless. The functions are set up in a very straight forward manner and the flight planning section is super easy to use. The only thing I would caution the potential student is make sure you know which radial you are using for the outbound(hold) course, sometimes test questions tell you the inbound and not the outbound radial so you have to put in the reciprocal. Fortunately this calculator includes reciprocal radials as one of its functions! This is a well designed calculator with the Pilot in mind, it is also completely OK to use on your FAA exams so no need to use the wiz wheel again. As a brand new student I would still recommend learning on the whiz wheel, you’ll learn better how the relationship between DA and airspeed work, something you don’t see on a calculator. My only complaint is that the battery life is a little low compared to a traditional calculator but that is really the only thing I can say negative about it. The insert that comes with the calculator is a great starting point for the functions. Would buy again just for calculating Climb/Descent for non standard departures. .
Working, it’s a good electronic E6B. Saved plenty of time for the FAA Written and other tests. My issue is with the manufacturing/quality of the product. It’s very light and feels cheap for being $100. The first one I ordered was dead on arrival since it was completely missing two of the battery contacts rendering it useless and repairable. After returning it, the second one they shipped had a loud rattling sound. Opened it up and there was a broken electrical component loose inside the unit.Really wanted to love this product but so far out of the two that I owned they both had issues. If you’re a student that has a test deadline and you need an electronic E6B fast, I can’t recommend putting all your faith in this product working out of the box. .
First impression were outstanding. The box and manufacturers wrapping was professional. This item includes AAA batteries, which is a plus. However, theres few discrepancies. First, wheres the USB cable for this? It wasnt provided and I had to dig through several obsolete cables in my miscellaneous drawer. Second, the back plate design is terrible. To put the 4 AAA batteries, you have to completely open the back case and the small supporting brackets seems very fragile. I feel after opening a few times to replace the batteries, one of the plastic brackets will wear and/or break. I honestly dont like the back design. It’s either rechargeable design like my TI-84 Plus CE calculator or the regular method opening the battery bay by using your fingernail. In conclusion, this flight computer looks extremely professional and it takes some time to get used to it. However I must rate it a three star. If it wasnt for the bad backplate design and the missing USB cable, it could of been a five star review. .

Well, it looks good but the 5 comes up as a 9. When adding or multiplying the answer is correct but something is definitely wrong with the sensors. .
Bigger then I thought it would be. Easy to read for these old eyes, shipped fast. .

For those of you deciding between the CR3, CR6, or E6B.E6BCons: Kinda obnoxious with wind computations, cardboard or aluminum materialPros: You probably already have oneCR3Cons: Winds are different and a little more complicated, but arguably better than E6B. It also can’t be improvised as a plotterPros: Much better feel with build quality versus the CR6, and spinning is as smooth as butter. Provides every function plus more than the E6B. Few things you can do on the wind side (cos & sin) like find descent rate with GS and angle, find precise wind components, VOR point to point navigation, wind correction angle etc, and the front side includes TAT window, mach number, cursor for precision etc. Jeppesen.com/cr for instructions.CR6Cons: Made of flimsier plastic that CR3, inner wheel has the same radius as the outer wheel, so it can be hard to use if holding the edges, develops very small warp from flimsier materialPros: Newest version of the CR design, updated larger font, yellow color for high contrast / easy to read in dark conditions, additional recovery coefficients and mach window has more precisionI personally find the CR3 to be the best. I will admit the black on grey isn’t the best color, but you will get used to it. I see some other gentleman was having issues with precision versus his E6B. I can testify that the one they sent me is just as precise as all my other wheels. I’m led to believe that he just didn’t set it correctly. .
Just like the CR computer you might have used all those years ago when you were learning to fly and had great eyesight but on a larger, easier to read size. As much as I love my CR-5 computer for its small size, my eyes don’t. So when I decided to take a few FAA written exams for a few more certificates, I broke down and got this. Worth every penny to avoid the eye strain and headache that comes with it. Do yourself a favor and make it easy for your eyes. Besides, the larger size seems to be more accurate, for what that’s worth! .
I learned on an MB4 in SUNT (undergraduate navigator training) back in the 1980s. These are easier to use and have a lot more capability in a easy to handle package/size. They’re both great computers and a pilot should be able to use his slide rule like a master – before he uses his iPhone/ to calc it. Old school is a must in this unforgiving activity. .
I should have gotten the CR-3 with the yellow background. The black numbers on grey background is a little difficult to read. The device is reasonably accurate but not as accurate as my old cardboard E6B. I was surprised by this. Maybe it is be a production issue. On the good side I really enjoy calculating my course and crosswind corrections much better on the CR3 compared to the same operation on the E6B. 7 – I Focus 2 in 1 Wireless Numeric Keypad with Calculator Function, USB Financial Accounting Numpad Solar Power 29 Keys Number Pad for Laptop Desktop PC Windows XP

This is a great little tool; however, it defaults to calculator mode if you don’t use it for a couple of minutes. It would be MUCH MORE handy and I would actually recommend it, IF IT DEFAULTED TO PC MODE. Since it doesn’t, I do not recommend it. I erroneously thought having the calculator mode would be nice – and, it is – I just waste a LOT OF TIME in data entry by having to continuously tap two different buttons to get it back to PC mode. .
Too big, too bulky, awkward button sizes and placements (not a traditional 10 key!). I loved having a calculator/numeric keypad, but it wasn’t worth it in the end. .
Great tool .
It didnt work with just the solar panel. Also the input with the computer is glitchy .

8 – Be a Human Calculator (Mere Observation – No Magic): (All Calculation tricks at a single place for students (10-18) and the aspirants of GMAT, GRE, SAT, Vedic Math, Speed Math and Mental Math )

I am not very strong at maths and my enthusiasm for the subject is very low. So, with my dislike and weakness in maths I tried to be very open-minded while reading this book. Reading about maths in “Being a Human Calculator†was easy to follow. There were tips and shortcuts to help you digest and understand formulas and intricate workings. Of course, you must have a strong foundation in the workings of maths to be able to master the techniques. The book is also more geared to those who participate in competitions as the tips help you to increase speed and accuracy. I think for those who must master maths this book would be most helpful. .
Indian author Rajesh Sarswat is a Post Graduate in Computer Science and worked from a senior capacity under the Government of India until he retired to pursue his passion for writing and teaching, focusing on mathematics and research on various techniques and concepts of quick mathematics. BE A HUMAN CALCLATOR is the result of his research in this field for the past 20 years. His other books include “Avoid Silly Mistakes in Mathematics”, and ” How to Memorize Formulas in Mathematics” and “How to Memorize Formulas in Mathematics Book-2 Trigonometry.”Rajesh’s fine book is a workbook. As he offers his reason for writing the book in his Preface we discover, ‘The roots of this book could be traced to the year 1991 when I skimmed through a small article in a vernacular newspaper on quick mathematics. The article was based on a technique of multiplication evolved by Jakow Trachtenberg, the famed Russian mathematician. The article left a deep imprint in my mind and I wondered as to whether there were other such techniques of quick mathematics. This led me to look for more insightful articles and papers. As I was preparing for competitive examinations conducted by various public agencies which almost always require consummate mathematical skills for success, I found these techniques truly useful. Little did I realize at that time that my incessant journey into the realm of quick mathematics had begun! I had taken to a passion that would be in my psyche for all times to come. These techniques worked very well and I cleared a plethora of competitive examinations. The more I practiced the techniques, the better I got at them. Very soon I was able to appreciate the deeper and subtle aspects of quick mathematics. I realized that speed at solving problems directly influenced the appreciation of the problems. And thorough appreciation of mathematical problems, every great mathematician would tell you, is the key to solutions. I also deem it essential to mention at this juncture that the faster you get at problem solving, the greater is your accuracy…. By reading this book, the students will be able to: learn quicker methods by observing some simple techniques; compare various techniques available on each topic; know the limitations of each technique; save some precious minutes in various competitive and school examinations by employing the quick calculation techniques; and develop their own tools in the field of quick calculations.’This book is a teaching manual with accessible formats for learning basic techniques that apply to preparing for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentage, squaring, cubing, square root – with exercises and examples for each. He then proceeds to more difficult topics such as algebra.Throughout the book Rajesh keeps the reader with him allowing the learning process to take place, reinforcing each ‘calculation trick’ with supplemental practice examples. For students as well as for anyone who deals with numbers this book is an invaluable addition to the library. Grady Harp, July 18. .
Be A Human Calculator by Rajesh Sarswat makes math easy. In a nutshell, you will quickly learn to do math calculations like never before. Many people claim to be a human calculator, but few actually are; if you are struggling with serious math exams, or just want to brush up on your math, this is the perfect. With a table of contents at the beginning of the book, Sarswat lays out what to expect in the book. This in itself is a handy reference. He begins with the more simple calculations that even the novice can appreciate and moves on to more hardcore math problems for serious math aficionados. This is a must read if you are preparing for any type of intensive math exam, but will help those who are looking to brush on their math skills as well. This is also a great book to refer to over and over again. Highly recommend. .
The Book is a complete implementable package. Lots of books have lots of tricks but when we really try them, its difficult to implement but the observations included in this book can easily be used. A must have for mathematics lovers and those who are preparing for competitive exams. Nice efforts by author. .

I am fascinated by these mechanical calculators. The inscriptions on the piece give it a flavor of the arcane and esoteric. Anyway, it around 30 minutes to put together. Instructions were clear for the most part. The hardest part was getting the pieces out of the cutout and handling the tiny wood pieces. You will need something to act as a hammer/mallet, and you will need some good thumb & forefinger grip. Put together, it seems to work well, except that there’s locking mechanism that’s kind of useless. Overall, it’s a decent model. I wanted to like it, but it’s too easy to call it a puzzle, and it’s too small to be used as a display piece. .
This is an interesting puzzle. Haven’t figured out how to work it yet, though. The clock itself will not stay on the stand provided, but it can be used just laying it down on the table. All the pieces were there and fit together just as the directions said to do it. .
I ordered this during lock down quarantine during COVID 19 as little something different for my twelve year old son to do. It is not super complicated but kept him busy and he really seemed to enjoy it. .
This was a gift for my husband and he loves it. He enjoys putting it all together. This is his 3rd kit from the company and he has enjoyed them all. .
