If you are planning on taking the Civil PE Exam, this book is worth its weight in gold. The amount of time that you will save on the exam is mind numbing and as I am sure that you are already aware of, time is at a premium on this exam. You will solve problems in seconds that would probably take you 5 to 10 minutes to solve otherwise and you still may not get the problem right. Admittedly you will have to put in a lot of time programming the equations into the HP35 but the time is well worth it. Just by putting the equations into the HP35s and by looking at the diagrams provided in the book, I understand things now that I didn’t before purchasing this book. I have looked at a lot of PE preparation books on Amazon and in my opinion this book is by far the most valuable. The book provides equations in very useful forms that you just don’t see everywhere and teaches you the value of making very strategic substitutions for variables that makes solving many problems a piece of cake. It probably helps to be familiar with the HP35s before you purchase the book but I feel that the book provides sufficient step-by-step key punching sequences. But again it helps to know why you are doing things as opposed to just punching keys. If you don’t presently know how to use an HP35s, its probably time to learn how. I wouldn’t dream of going into the exam without an HP35s with equations programmed in it. Many times problems will ask you to solve for a variable that is buried somewhere in the middle of the equation, not just the single variable to the left of the equal sign. The HP35s “Solve” function allows you to do this with ease. .

Great reference tool for working technician. Recommend this limited use reference. There are limits to the use of book. Formulas are simple to advanced and correct input required. .
