1 – Educational Insights See ‘N’ Solve Fraction Calculator
Top Reviews
Recently opened this calculator package (for math class this semester) .and thinking that problem was with 3 packs of AA batteries was the cause, only to find out that it was with this DEFECTIVE PRODUCT!!!This is a DON’T BUY~!!! .
The educational insights see n solve fraction calculator needs improvement. The design is lacking as well as cumbersome. .
This calculator is an awesome product . when it works. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work most of the time. I bought one and threw it away because the number keys didn’t work. It is such a great concept, I decided to give it another try. Some of the number keys don’t work properly. You have to press them two or three times, and that is very frustrating. The first calculator I bought the “8” key stopped working entirely. Someone came up with a great idea. It would be fantastic if your manufacturer would figure out how to build this, so it would actually work. How hard can it be? There are hundreds of calculators on the market, and this is the only one I’ve ever purchased that the keys don’t work. I have the calculator three stars an average rating. The concept is five stars, but the way it works is 1 star. .
This is the most fun I have ever had with an instruction tool. Now I can make up random fraction problems without having to work them out first so I can correct the specific set my student may have made a error. I work it while they work it. It’s fun. .

2 – Learning Resources Pizza Fraction Fun Game, 13 Fraction Pizzas, 16 Piece Game, Ages 6+,Multi Color
Top Reviews
This game is missing pieces! I read other reviews that also reported this and hoped it was just a manufacturing error but this is not the case. There are not enough similar pieces to complete even one whole pizza. I purchased this for my grandkids to play. I am a retired teacher and thought this would be an excellent game. The concept is good but the materials were missing and that made successful game play impossible. I do not recommend this game to anyone. .
I love the concept of the pizzas, but this doesn’t follow an easy enough logic.Meaning, it isn’t one whole pizza and then one pizza with 2 halves and one pizza with thirds, etc.It is many pizzas made up of all kinds of fractions. It makes it too confusing for beginners and messy trying to put the pizzas back. When trying to teach kids, if you have 1/4, you want 4 pieces to make a whole so they understand.I watched a young girl get confused and not want to play.I had an apple manipulative where one apple was quarters and halves making a whole apple and she loved that .
As a teacher, I was trying to figure out a fun way to teach fractions to my 4th grade students. After frantically searching for a few hours, I finally found this product. I was a bit apprehensive when I purchased it at first but now I’m glad that I did. I absolutely love the game, especially since it comes with directions for seven different games to use with your students. This helped a lot of my students understand how to add and subtract fractions. Not only that, they were actually begging me to play this game.I will definitely purchase math games from Learning Resources in the future. I can’t wait to try out more games from them in the future. If you are a teacher or if you are a parent, this is a great way to teach math to children! .
This thing is awesome! I bought it for my 6 year old who is in Kindergarten but the game is made for grades 3-5 (but would work for review with older kids). There are variations for younger folks but not many. My son has been able to play the easiest 3rd grade games so far. With some creativity and basic understanding of math, you could also easily make up your own games as well. There’s a spinner and 6 different “boards” the spinner can go on to change the rules for the game. There are several pizzas made from cardboard with realistic pictures of pizza and fractions written on one side. I read one review that said “you cannot even put the pizzas back together after you’ve taken them apart” . Well, yeah, that’s kind of the point. This is a fraction game and it’s meant to be put back together temporarily not permanently! It is fun enough though, that the child doesn’t know they’re learning! The best way to make them learn–make it fun! .

Great app to have especially if you work in an industry such as steel fabrication that is stuck in the 19th century and still uses fractional imperial units of measure. .
Thanks for providing such an easy app without intrusive advertisments! .
This nifty app will be very useful when I am calculating changes in knitting and crochet patterns. I’m usually working in fractions for instance five and 5/8 times 4 2/3 inches. It’s a nuisance to have to convert these numbers to decimals before I can work with them, so I’m looking forward to being able to use this app. So far I have just played with it. I haven’t used it for real. It seems accurate and is very easy to use. My only quibble is that you can only use fractions on this. There is no decimal option. For that you need a second calculator, so I only give it 4 1/2 stars. .
Love it . while I CAN do fractions, WHY do them?? LOL I’m a handyman and constantly having to add fractions and instead of doing them in my head or writing them down, I can use this app to figure them correctly and quickly. The old adage of measure twice, cut once is very true and if you do the math in your head or on paper and make a mistake, once you cut wood, you can trim it if too long but you can’t stretch if it’s too short.Best to make sure beforehand. This allows me to check my work or to use it to save time to begin with. The only thing that minimally bugs me is I don’t really like having my phone near flying sawdust and stuff so to work around that, I put my phone inside a sandwich zip lock baggie, problem solved. 🙂 .

The best suited place for this App is in the kitchen. This App does not perform measurement conversions, and it’s not advertised to do so. But whenever you are baking and need only partial recipes this will do most everything you need. Doubling a recipe is easy, but many times you may only need half a recipe. Or if you bake fancy cakes for friends and family you may need 2 and a half recipes or worse 2 and 2 thirds. A good Baker labels their cake pans with the amount of batter needed to fill that pan when the batter is cooked and expanded. And making multi layer cakes almost always leaves you short of batter or with a surplus. A recipe is designed to make a certain size cake or predetermined amount of batter. This is where this App shines. It makes calculating all those measurements into the size recipe you need, quickly and easily. So no more running short on batter or baking extra batter into something so there is no waste. This calculator works with fractions and whole numbers. The UI is clean an intuitive, and it scales nicely to fit full screen on different display sizes. It’s a very good addition to any device, and a nice supplement to your standard calculator. And it allows you to check your childs homework without having to recall something you learned 20 years ago, and have totally forgotten. .
I got this a the free app of the day. My first impression was it would be a “neat” thing to have, but kind of wondering how much I would use it.I’ve used it more than I thought I would. My husband and I were at the local lumber store trying to figure out how much stuff we needed. I pulled out my phone and started punching buttons. He was impressed. I’m not a math person and this calculator is really one of the best things for me to have. This calculator is easy to use. There are three keypads, one for the whole numbers, one for the numerator and one for the denominator. I think the layout is good and even on my smartphone the keys are a nice size (on my Kindle the keys are huge). But we must remember that this is a calculator for fractions, so it is not the calculator for everything. It’s a great addition to my other apps and has been extremely useful more times than I really ever thought it would be when I got it. .
Love this. Working with fractions has never been easier. A great tool to have if, like me, you do a lot of DYI projects around the house. It takes the awkwardness out of measuring for window blinds, woodworking projects, etc.I have thought for years that I need to brush up on working with fractions as I learned in school. Now I don’t feel the rush to do that. This was well worth the time & cost. .
This is an useful tool for persons working with fractions. However, is a basic calculator, so there should be not too bigh expectations. Most of the minuses described by other users are real challenges such as the lack of decimal point. You can overcome that by becoming an expert in decimal equivalents. In addition, some of the results are expressed in such fractions VERY impractical to ‘represent with a regular tape such as 21/64; 29/32, etc.A dressmaker/ pattern maker will be familiar with fractions of up to 32 in the denominator, but rather work with the closest fraction over “8” .The app is a good tool even after discounting the need to access the internet and the space in HD used.I would recommend it to my friends advising them off all of the above. .

6 – Calculated Industries 4400 TradesmanCalc Technical Trades Dimensional Trigonometry and Geometry Math and Conversion Calculator Tool for Tech Students, Welders, Metal Fabricators, Engineers, Draftsmen
Top Reviews
I’ve only scratched the surface of this one, but I already love it. Unlike many other Calculated Industries products, with many highly specialized functions, this is pretty much a standard scientific calculator that has the awesome ability to work directly in different units. It has trig, square, square root, etc. This is what I was looking for.You can work in US units, like:decimal yards, feet, inchesfeet+fractional inchesfractional inchesAlso, others like pounds, kilograms, mm, m, etc.It has basic dimensional analysis. You don’t just plug numbers in and hit a conversion key, it actually keeps track (to a point) of the units for you. For example, 25.4mm and 1 inch are basically the same thing. I can enter 25.4mm times 8 feet, and get a result in square feet – it’s smart enough to know what you mean. It does not appear to let you mix units, like lb-ft, for example. It comes in a hard removable case, and has a well written instruction booklet that fits into a slot in the back. .
Item was defective out of the box. Ordered this product in July for school which started in September, did not have to use the calculator until a day ago and found out it was not working at that time. Amazon would not return the product as it was out of the return period so now i will have to purchase the calculator again not happy with the service on this order. .
Awesome calculator I am a welder and I use it everyday actually just bout another to leave in my truck. Once you learn how to use it you can figure out just about anything .
Purchased for a friend. Fast delivery needed for welding school!! .

7 – Laser Distance Measure 131FT / 40M Backlit LCD Handheld Digital Laser Distance Meter with Single-distance, Continuous, Area, VNT Angle, Volume Measurement and Pythagorean Modes
Top Reviews
The first thing to mention is that this laser measure uses two AAA batteries. That’s triple-A.The batteries are NOT included. The instructions are lousy with cryptic language and tiny ambiguous drawings. Still, I was able to figure out most of the functions.A few helpful things to know: By default the unit arrives in Metric mode. To change to Feet/Inches press down the UNITS button and hold for about one second. Measurements are in decimal form, not fractional. Thus, you will see 4.75 feet rather than the more useful 4 feet/9 inches. Keep a calculator handy for conversions. To measure a strait distance (as if using a tape rule), point the unit along the measuring path, and press the Red button on the top/center. A bright red laser dot will appear across the room from you. Hold the device steady and try to use the angle display to keep it level, then press the Red button again to complete the measurement. It’s important to level the meter since you will otherwise measure the hypotenuse (slant range), rather than the side of a given line.To turn the unit off, press down the C/Off button and hold for about one second. My only complaint about the product, beyond the lousy instructions, is that it’s tricky to hold steady. I wish it came with a cradle and clamps or thumb-screws so that you could mount it securely at a given fixed position. Still, for quick and dirty measurements, it’s ideal. Incidentally, the display has excellent legibility, but may not be sunshine visible.A quick update. I was wrong, the unit DOES measure feet and inches in fractional form. Other reviewers also got tricked on this one. You just have to hit the Units button a couple of times and cycle between feet in decimal and fractional form. Sorry, if I initially misled anyone. .
This had an unbelievable coupon available that I just couldn’t pass, so I ended up purchasing two. All I can say is if you are in the Construction Planning field, you will not regret getting yourself one (or two) of these! They make going out to the sites for measurements such a breeze. I did test their accuracy and they seem to be spot on. They are very lightweight (for mobility) yet pretty heavy duty for field environment. The screen has a backlight and it doesn’t take much effort to figure out the functions on it. They were professionally shipped with immaculate packaging that includes a users manual, carrying strap, and warranty card. Overall, you are getting an amazing product for an amazing cost. I highly recommend to everyone! .
My wife and I have been home shopping and this is great to measure rooms easily. The only issue I can say is that it uses decimals for feet which isn’t really useful but we are not looking for exacting details so it suits our purposes fine. The directions were fairly minimal but eventually you can figure it out. The ability to measure volume by getting L W and H is useful. Additionally being able to measure square footage is great too. Or just use it as a dumb measure and it lists all the last measurements you used in the history. Sometimes you just need a good ol pen and paper to write things down and multiply. Finally the feature to include the length of the device it self is super useful for instances where you dont have space to measure from the beam. .
Okay for indoors measurement. Tough to use outside. Display is dim and the laser dot is small. Forget about using it in full sun. .

8 – RealCalc Scientific Calculator

I do not have wifi at my house. I can go to a post office by the lake, and a deli, and maybe a dozen other places. So I hoped the program could download to my desktop computer, and then I can use file manager to transfer itto the Amazon Fire. It was a free program. The original sci calculator was free but it said something expired, or I didnot own it. I need something that works if I am in a remote location without wifi service. Rigth now, I am connectedto Optimum and I am a customer. I can link up to that as I described, and it works fine in places. So somewhere in the digital void lies my calculator program. I need the hyperbolic tangent function. (rocket ships and bullet problem) .
I have used an RPN Calculator exclusively for the past 40 years. I have the RealCalc on my Android phone and use it quite often when my HP35s is not available. I would love to have this in a Windows 10 version to keep on my laptop as the Android emulator just adds another layer between my computer and the calculator. .
This is a great calculator and much better than the standard calculator on my Kindle Fire. I have frequent need for both the scientific and trig functions and this app meets the need very well. .
This has become my “go to” calculator for just about everything. I would give it six stars if it included financial functions and ten if it were programmable. I really love this calculator. The only negative comment I have is also applicable to almost every calculator I have ever seen that has binary mode. In base two, a display size of 10, 12 or even 16 digits is inadequate when attempting to manipulate numbers of even moderate size. To really be useful in binary mode, the display size should be at least 32 digits with the ability to shift left or right to view the entire number. I don’t believe that this would be a difficult addition to this already outstanding product. .
