1 – Casio Basic Solar Folding Compact Calculator
Top Reviews
Have purchased three of these over the last 30 years, replacing when the earlier model has given up the ghost. This is my fourth. It’s just as well made as the previous three, a rarity these days! I love the folding design because it goes a long way to prevent briefcase and pocket lint, dirt and worse from getting into the keypad which is a surefire way to kill most calculators. Compact form factor is terrific. The display is large and crisp. It’s the ideal tiny calculator for those who need just the basic functions and who don’t need a large desktop model. If I lost this one, I’d purchase another in a New York nanosecond! Recommended without the slightest reservation. .
One of those things which is priced right and does exactly what you need it to do. Snaps shut when you don’t need it, pops open when you do, bright and clear, good key size. my favorite calculator model. Easier even than using an app on your cel phone. If you can pick it up for 6 bucks or less, I recommend you do. It’ll probably last you over 10 years and will be one of those perfect appliances for that period. Does what it does perfectly. .
I love this little calculator! It’s small but the screen is larger than most hand-held calculators so it’s really easy for me to read, even without reading glasses. I especially love that it snaps closed so I can carry it in my purse without damaging the buttons or screen. It works well even in low light and has more functions than I need. It is not, by any means, a suitable replacement for the scientific calculator that my daughter needs for school. For my needs, however, it does the job quite well. I’m very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this calculator to anyone who needs a small, sturdy, simple calculator. .
Update: I was ranting in my original review below about the calculator not having an OFF button. Turns out, there is a hack to turn off the calculator without an OFF button. You simply press the 2 and 3 buttons simultaneously and while holding those buttons down, press the ON button (or AC button) and calculator will turn off. It also works if you simultaneously press and hold the 5 and 6 buttons or the X and ÷ buttons then press ON or AC. I’m so glad there’s a way to turn off this calculator, hate wasting battery power. This is a really neat folding calculator. I specifically chose this folding design because it protects the buttons and display from getting scratched up when I carry it in my pocket or backpack. And the small size when folded makes it super easy to take anywhere. The lid does snap shut so it won’t open up until you open it. The display is big and easy to read for such a small calculator. The buttons are small, but there’s plenty of spacing between them and I have no problem operating them. Having a solar panel is definitely a big plus, while still having a battery backup for low light situations. I also like that it has 4 key memory system. I often need to clear the memory without recalling it. On calculators that have the combined MRC button, it’s impossible to do that. Overall the quality feels very good on this calculator and I can see that there’s a metal pin in the hinges, so it shouldn’t break very easily. Is it perfect? No. One thing that you’ll notice immediately when you’re holding it in the open position is that it’s top heavy. That’s because the top half is where the display, solar panel, battery, and main circuit board are located. The bottom half simply houses the keypad. This doesn’t affect the functionality at all, but just feels a little awkward when holding it. Of course that wouldn’t matter if you just have it laying on a desktop. I do wish this calculator had an OFF button. I realize it has auto shutoff, but I would prefer to turn it off myself instead of wasting the battery power for an extra 8 minutes. Actually, I timed my calculator and mine shuts off after 7 minutes and 6 seconds. But still, it would be better to have an OFF button. Instead, it has two ON buttons since both the ON button and AC button will turn on the calculator. I would also prefer to have hard plastic buttons instead of the rubbery buttons, but that’s just my own personal preference. A competitor model, the Canon LS-555H does have an OFF button and hard plastic buttons, but the cost is more than 3x what this Casio calculator costs, so I am willing to overlook these minor issues.Bottom line is that this calculator is an excellent value for the price and it does what I need it to do, so I’m happy with it. .

2 – CANON Wide Format 4009A006AA LS555H Handheld Foldable Pocket Calculator, 8-Digit LCD
Top Reviews
You may like it but way too small for my purpose. 2.5 W x 4.5 long. keyboard. n Do not think that wide format means anything. Keyboard is tiny. Large numbers are very difficult to input. Will fit in the palm of a person with small hands. I was looking for something about twice the size of this unit that folds. It is not the seller’s fault and this review does not reflect on the seller. Disappointed in the size and function of the calculator. .
Oh joy, what a sweet little calculator! It’s 4.25″ x 2.5″ and closed is a half inch thick. Display window is a generous easy-to-see 1″ x 3″. Buttons have big, easy-to-see numerals and you don’t have to be an advanced mathematician to figure them out. Beautifully designed, sturday calculator, with which I’m greatly impressed. Thanks, Canon! .
I use this calculator EVERY DAY. I frikking washed it. WASHED IT! And then I gave it some time to dry out and IT STILL WORKS PERFECTLY! I love this thing my job as a flight engineer is very depend upon simple math; however, if you’re not in control of people’s lives based upon calculations and/or precise knowledge, maybe you can settle for a less awesome calculator. Ball’s in your court. Live your dreams. .
This calculator is better than I expected for the price. Sturdy for the purse, and easy to use. Love it. .

3 – Nursing Clipboard Grey Mini Metal Clipboard with Generous Storage, Folding Clipboard for Nurses, Doctors, Medical Students
Top Reviews
Im a nursing student and needed something compact and sturdy to use in clinicals. This fit the bill! I only ordered grey because that was the only color that could get to me on time (I wanted pink or orange). It is mini, lightweight and actually fit in one of my scrub pants pockets and eventually in my nursing fannypack too!. The clip is on the left side when you open it up like a book. Very easy to wipe off after a shift or class/clinicals. The cheat sheets are already attached on it and those are handy as well! Worth the money for sure! .
I shouldve bought this years ago! The best clipboard you’ll ever use!!!! .
Best folding clipboard. Sturdy and easy to disinfect (because I do use it at hospital). .
