1 – Calculated Industries 5070 ElectriCalc Pro Electrical Code Calculator | Updateable and Compliant with NEC 1996 to 2020 | Electrical Contractors, Estimators, Engineers, Electricians, Lighting Pros
Top Reviews Exceptionally useful. You will probably wear this one out, in projects for electrical work. There are apps for your cell phone separately in the various App stores, but if you are a heavy user, you don t want to keep draining your cell phone battery just to do calculations. Handiest feature is the various code iterations. Hats off to the programmer who figured this out. You probably want one for work, and another for home, to keep tha hacienda free of the workplace dirt and grime. . I am new to NFPA 70 NEC. As for calculators I have used and programmed many. While it seem kool for the wire sizing and code compliance matter. I miss my sin and cos and inverse power buttons. I am sure with some work I can appreciate using it but I will also keep my my arsenal of TI and HP tools. . This is absolutely one of the best calculators I have had the pleasure to purchase & Use in the field! All the functions I need are at my fingertips for work & my college courses! Packaged and shipped excellent! Definitely a quality seller & quality product! Thank you! . I’m in the illimination business and use the calculator to specify the electrical circuits for installation purposes. Its very easy to introduce the electrical parameters and make quick estimations of wire size, conduit diameter, voltage drop and more.I found it extremely useful, practÃcall and accurate. Good stuff. 2 – Victor 1530-6 10 Digit Professional Grade Heavy Duty Commercial Printing Calculator with Large Display and Loan Wizard
Top Reviews I bought this 2 years ago and expected it to last longer. I am an accountant and have always had great luck with the Victor brand. The keys feel nice and it is very fast for us 10-Key by touch people. I ordered a Monroe to replace it, but it is too big for the desk and the keys feel awful. I will end up buying the 1570-6 instead of this one to see if I have better luck. However, for the price, two years worth of service is not too bad. I also do not like to have to thread the ink ribbon onto the spools. That is what broke with my old one. It just stopped advancing the ribbon, then it quit completely. . This is just what I was looking for. I use it for my own personal records and for the tracking of expenses on our rental property. I use it a lot at tax time. It is easy to use and very readable. Perfect replacement for my 25+ year old calculator. . I have used Victor Calculators for 25 years in the accounting world. I have used the 1560A series among others. Unfortunately my oldies have all disintegrated and my hand is forced to buy new. I purchased a Victor 1530-6 and have been disappointed. The bed of the keypad is high, placing your wrist in a non ergonomic position. The keys are somewhat stiff and noisy, I prefer a light touch to reduce finger joint pressure and pain. The display is very bright and the numbers are tall and slim, I hoped for a dimmer switch and also find myself having difficulty deciphering the numbers. . this is a classic 10 key with an extra feature here and there. The CFO liked the one she had had for a decade and wouldn’t accept anything other than an exact model replacement. Read more
3 – Miller Electric – 043125 Package Calculator
Top Reviews This is a very useful set of three individual slide chart calculators for MIG, TIG and Stick welding. The charts make a handy quick reference for someone like me that doesn’t normally weld everyday and sometimes may not for months at a time. There is even an area included for Flux Core. The MIG chart is the one I currently use the most and it can really help save me a lot of time on preliminary set up and test welds at different amperage and wire feed rates for whatever material type I am working with. The three calculators even came with a nice vinyl zip lock sleeve to store them in and I think the price here on Amazon was very reasonable, so am quite happy with the purchase. . For someone who does not weld for a living, these are great to keep around! You’ll need to slightly cut the top of the plastic sleeve these things come in if you want to be able to easily pull out the TIG calculator but otherwise these calculators have the most concise, condensed information you’d need for any weld whether it’s TIG/MIG/Stick.Granted I do not use them often YET, but that’s because I’m doing flat plates i.e. coupons. I can already say the Stick info including the pictures of the various types of problem/good welds when you remove the Stick card (just slide the calculator all the way out and you’ll see it) was gold in itself. The amperage for stick was generally spot on too but I’m still new to this area too albeit I have actually done some joints with stick vs. TIG. . First, note that I only received one of the MIG calculators, even though the photo on the listing shows two.Aside from this discrepancy between the photo and the offering, what was received is in good condition, new, and covers all of the calculators needed to get started with MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and stick (SMAW) arc welding. These calculators are easy to use to set up the welding machine, and easy to store with the machine for repeated reference. They don’t require batteries nor put your smartphone near the hot molten metal, so are much more convenient than more “modern†methods of reference. While it also helps to consult the charts on the consumables for MIG and stick, these calculators help to understand a lot of variables that go into selecting your operating point.Well worth every penny. Just don’t be upset if you only get one of each, because it might be worth getting several sets. . These Miller Calculator charts are great to have at any level of welding. I look at these charts almost every time I weld and I think they are a great tool to have. You have a TIG, Stick, and MIG calculator for metal thickness, wire speed (MIG), and Volts. I use Stick guide almost every time I go to Stick Weld to double check the metal thickness via the Electrode Type. My Miller 215 does most of the calculation for the MIG setup, but I still like to check (AND LEARN) the proper settings.Just a great tool to have. Great Value from Miller. Read more
4 – (1) Monroe 8130X 12-Digit Print/Display Professional Heavy-Duty Calculator in Black with Extended Life Calculator Body
Top Reviews This is my favorite calculator. My favorite feature is the red light that tells you that you have an active entry. I like that you you don’t see the add roll and it stores another. I like that the total goes above the cut line making it easy to read and to tear off if I need to keep it. But that same feature also makes it annoying. You get a couple extra ker-chunks when it is forwarding the paper. It is very loud to begin with that extra paper advance makes it worse. There are 3 switches at the top. Mine only came with with one switch cover. The other 2 are missing the cover and are just nubs (not a problem, just an irritant after spending so much money on it). . I am a CPA and purchased this machine primarily to do a lot of adding. It is well built and works fine, but the placement of the adding key is too far to the right and not where my finger expects it to be. There is a wider gap between the numbers and the add key than on most machines. It is because the decimal point key sticks out too far to the right. I scrapped this machine and purchased the cheaper Monroe 122PDX. It is better for someone who is doing mostly simple adding. One additional comment – when I was having issues with the add key placement I called Monroe and a person answered. Immediately. No going through 8 computer generated phone menus to get to a person. I told him my complaint, and he told me to try the 122PDX. So for customer service, they get an A+. . I bought my first Monroe 31 years ago and it has worked without problems for all these years. I just had to update with a new one for my office in another office location and the new one is black with great key feel. The display is much easier to read on this much newer version. I hate to throw the older one out to pasture but this new one looks and feels so much better, and I rarely go a day without hitting the old three finger adding machine. . Been using Monroe printing calculators for 40 years, latest purchase is my 4th. Recommendation highly if you do accounting/tax work. Read more
