A couple of years ago I purchased my CI 4065 (Construction Master Pro) and, while nothing in life is perfect, I LOVE this tool and keep it next to me in my metal and wood shops at all times (I wish they would come out with a Machinist’ specific version!). That said, I always hated the design of the cover. It does a good job protecting the calculator, but is a pain to remove, and use as intended. It’s design seems to have been an after thought and a poor attempt at protecting the investment without actually having to spend money on the feature.When the Armadillo case came to my attention, I looked around the web and found mixed reviews. Still, I liked the idea of an integrated protection system which did not require the removal and possible loss of a second piece.Fast forward to the day it arrives. I found that at least with the 4065 (and I am sure any of CI’s products with the same form factor), the installation was easy, yet tight. A perfect fit With one hand, the cover can be flipped open, using one’s thumb, the cover flips over and lays flat against the back and the unit can ALMOST be operated with one hand. The case offers a solid grip, no rattling around–in short, the two pieces mate together as I had hoped and expected. The case itself gives the impression of being solid, hard and able to take abuse (no, it is not water proof).So far, only two complaints:1) no access to the cheat sheet booklet which hides in the back of the calculator. Believe me, once you put the calculator in the case, you will not want to remove it casually.2) The case should really be offered as standard equipment with the calculator. Customers who are up for spending the money on a high end, specialized calculator such as this, will not be opposed to spending a few extra bucks for the comfort and peace of mind this case offers by protecting their investment.Dan in Pine, CO .
Why risk losing an opportunity just because your calculator is too beaten up to function? Can it save you $20 to keep it working well? Will you make $20 or more if you close the sale? Invest in the reliability of your work with some protection for your calculator unless you are one of those rare math savants who doesn’t even need a calculator. Even then you can use this protection to preserve your calculator for clients who need to work the formulas to believe the numbers.Stop over-thinking it and invest in your success! .

This case will not work with the construction master 5 without modifying the case. I cut the ribs out or the case with diagonal cutters. Removing the ribs provided enough room and the fit is close enough to perfect. Love the case / calculator combo .

This little calculator can give you the fractional or decimal answer without making you recover your 5th grade arthmetic skills. It handles a wide range of woodworking and carpentry calculations. The same company makes a wide range of calculators, including more robust ones for use at job sites. This one is probably best used in a workshop or inside. It’s in a light weight bright yellow plastic case that doesn’t feel like it would handle a lot of abuse. But it’s easy to use, the instruction manual is clear and the inside cover even has printed instructions for the most common uses. Four stars rather than 5 because of the cheesey case, but it’s still a great way to reduce errors and save pencil lead. .
I have had this calculator for years. It is wonderful for home improvement projects. The Feet and Inch calculations and conversions are very handy. In fact I even use this calculator at work for engineering calculations to go from inches to feet-inches and vice versa.The calculator still work great even though it has been knocked around and dropped many times. .
I purchased to replace one that I had so got totally what I expected. They are great to add feet with inches or yards. any measurement and to convert. Also they are durable my previous one lasted 5 years and I used it all day at work. .
I ordered this for my dad for work and he loved it it came on time and in great condition too! was brand new in the packaging .

This is a five star tool when considering the low price vs. the good functionality. I’ve owned this tool for a year now – and have used it many, many times (restoration of antique clocks, antique bicycles, and many other projects). It is not a professional tool – nor does it cost hundreds of dollars. But it is a super-useful tool for homeowner and hobbyist use.I have compared this tool to two professional calipers – I usually get readings that are spot-on – or – .0005″ off +/-. I particularly like the large LCD readout – works very well with my aging eyesight. .
through my engineering life i’ve been using the metric system all my life, till i had to work on an american made rig and found that every thing is in imperial. no one can imagine the hassle of converting a fraction reading to metric or compare sizes in fractions for a metric programmed mind, i had to use my fingers like i was in kindergarten again not a graduated engineer!!!In my suffering i see this caliper with the fractions printed on its shaft in their original form X/Y, my lord why did it take too long to find this life saver, for me this is more than enough to justify the bit higher price and the not so accuracy (its more than enough for what i do).now i don’t have to look like a dumb kid when comparing 3/4 or 7/8 or 5/16 or whatever the hell these demonic numbers look like because i have this sword to put these numbers in place. .
This caliper comes in a sturdy case with a spare battery and arrived well packaged. The measurement accuracy seems to be within .0002 of my Starrett caliper. That’s as close as I can read. The display is larger than most and is easy to read. The only negatives are the adjusting wheel slips on the bar and makes it difficult to make small adjustments. Also, look at the picture of the caliper closely. The on/off and units change buttons are very small and inconveniently placed. For the money, it seems like a good piece. But, if you need more robust construction, spend more money. .
I love this thing. tested it against my snap on one that costs about 10 times this and the measurements were spot on. I deduct 1 point since it is made in China. .
