1 – Nadiya’s Kitchen: Over 100 Simple, Delicious Family Recipes

Top Reviews
I’m probably one of the very few who purchased this cookbook without having ever actually SEEN the Great British Bake-Off or Nadiya on the small screen chalk that up to several overseas moves and the last couple of years without a TV or cable. However, I was intrigued by the snippets of information out about her debut cookbook, and decided to preorder from the UK. Despite the lack of TV, I regularly follow the careers of former GBBO contestants and own cookbooks by several, including the excellent “Crumb” by Ruby Tanoh (one of my blog’s top cookbooks of 2014) and Edd Kimber (“The Boy Who Bakes”).I love a good curry (Meera Sodha’s books are some of my favorites), but due to a hectic work/life balance, I really fall for doable, delicious recipes with easy results, and “Nadiya’s Kitchen” delivers on both counts. Nadiya grew up in a British Bangladeshi family in Luton, where she taught herself to cook from cookbooks and YouTube videos. In 2015, she was chosen to appear on Great British Bake-Off and won. An audience favorite, Nadiya now has a spinoff BBC documentary “The Chronicles of Nadiya” as well as several book deals (“Nadiya’s Kitchen,” the children’s book / cookbook “Bake Me A Story,” as well as her first novel). In her first cookbook, Nadiya collects familiar (British) favorites like the Full English (here presented as a frittata), meat pies, and cherry Bakewell with a hefty dose of the international (chilli cheese burritos, gnocchi with cheese, pine nuts and rocket, grilled halloumi with pomegranate salsa, kofta kebab, Asian-inspired seafood) as well as Indian and Bengali fare (meat samosas, korma, curry, kedgeree). True to her word, many recipes do come together quickly and are fairly simple. Thanks to the detailed step-by-step photographs for more involved recipes, even novice cooks can turn out a delicious dinner. The chapters are arranged by theme rather than meal (teatime, dessert for dinner, dinner date, cosy evenings and midnight feasts, etc.), so it may take a bit of flipping to locate the recipe or type of dish you’re looking for.For this review, I made several recipes from “Nadiya’s Kitchen” including the showstopping oven-roasted sweet tomato and Parmesan tart, mustard and kale mac and cheese, quick boiled egg curry, and sour cherry and almond Bundt cake. The tomato Parmesan tart has you essentially candy cherry tomatoes with a touch of sugar, balsamic and olive oil. If pressed for time, an all-butter refrigerated pie crust can be substituted for the homemade one. You first blind bake the crust before layering with half the tomatoes and adding a rich cheese-enhanced custard (I also added some sprigs of fresh thyme to add a little extra flavor). This was absolutely lovely served with a simple green salad (and I actually prefer eating it cold rather than warm).Next up was the quick boiled egg curry. I usually have a surplus of hard-boiled eggs in the refrigerator (I steam them in batches in my rice cooker), and am always looking for new ways to use them, so I loved the idea of adding them to a curry. You start by cooking down tomatoes, onion, and spices into a dry paste, then frying up the eggs separately. Two observations here: first, the amount of paste hardly seems generous enough for six eggs / several servings if you like your curry a bit heartier / saucier (I ended up with maybe 1.5 cups of sauce after cooking down, which would yield 1/4 cup per person if serving six as Nadiya recommends). Second, I had less success with frying up the eggs. You’re supposed to score them then crisp in oil, but mine browned unevenly and didn’t result in the crisp “shell” shown. I ended up using peeled hardboiled eggs and mixing them into the curry, and loved the final result. The mustard and kale mac and cheese was a great update on a beloved classic; I added some panko breadcrumbs to the top as I love crunchy mac and cheese! If you can’t find Coleman’s mustard powder in your neck of the woods, French mustard or Japanese mustard powder is a respectable substitute. Kale being a tougher green, it froze and reheated beautifully and didn’t turn slimy or mushy on reheating. And as Nadiya is primarily known as a baker, how do the selection of baked goods hold up? The first recipe I tried was the sour cherry and almond Bundt, and it was every bit as gorgeous as the photo. My coworkers loved the balance of cherries and subtle hint of almond (the recipe uses both almond flour, although not entirely gluten-free, as well as almond extract). The crumb was moist and the cake held up well through several days of snacking. There are also recipes for mocha macarons, homemade candy (peanut, black sesame and ginger brittle, chocolate-dipped honeycomb, candied orange peel, guava Turkish delight, salted pretzel fudge, speculoos hazelnut truffles), cookies galore (candied lemon, coconut and strawberry Anzacs, chocolate and date, matcha and milk chocolate), chocolate and hazelnut profiteroles, chocolate and star anise fondants, pavlovas and cream pies, nutmeg and orange baked cheesecake, raspberry jam puddle brownies, and a recipe for Her Majesty’s Cake. From comfort food (hello, mushroom, cheese and mustard croissants!) to more elegant fare (fresh sea bass fennel ceviche, crusted rack of lamb with aubergine bortha, crispy filo with seared tuna), “Nadiya’s Kitchen” offers something for everyone, from beginning cooks to the more experienced. .
This book is an absolute pleasure to read. The pictures are gorgeous, the recipes sound delicious (can’t wait to try some!), and Nadiya’s voice comes through strong and clear in the text. One caveat, this is NOT an American edit of the book, so all of the measurements are in metric units. Probably shouldn’t buy it unless you have a metric scale in your kitchen. .
Yes, this is the contestant who won the Great British Bake Off following an unlikely, insecurity to a very competent, confidence trajectory bound to win most watchers’ heart. (Although I will also admit a fondness for the man who built his own useful equipment and foraged for ingredients.) I expected a book geared towards the experienced baker and if I were a baker I would not be disappointed. I also expected to gain insight into how cooking cultures blend through immigration – this is what I got in glorious spades. This is not fusion cooking so much as a housewife picking the best to which she has been exposed and presenting it to her family – with all the quirks of children’s palates, time constraints and food memories. All of which is served up with conversational introductions reflect her family’s experience.Recipes often include notes with regards to freezing, allowing children to assist and serving suggestion. Breakfast begins with “Scotch pancakes with a mixed berry and lemon thyme compote” a Western recipe, moves on to “Breakfast halwa croissants” a fusion recipe, and “Kipper kedgeree” her adaptation to using kippers. For snack one find “Crispy taco chicken salsa cups” near “Easy aromatic meat samosas”; For teatime “Green mango and fish curry” near “Lemon thyme Irish stew”.All the recipes are within the capability of a home cook but some require a very dedicated home cook. What holds them all together is a broad flavor profile – sophisticated but child friendly – and a strong sense of family cooking and eating together. .
I bought this book after having watched Nadiya in “The Great British Bake Off.” All of her bakes looked so interesting, I wanted to taste everything she made! I have had this book for about a week and I have made 5 of the recipes so far Ovaltine Bedtime Biccies (I’ve made these twice! Sooo good!), Hot Cookie Dough and Ice Cream and Mint Dark Chocolate and Raspberry Mousse Pots, plus the Bengali Korma and Cod and Clementine dishes. They have all been delicious! The photos in the book are colorful and personal. I love how she has written about her emotional connection to each recipe. At first, I was not sure about the metric measurements, but I have been using my scale and just set it to gra
ms o
r mls, then on the second go round, I’ve weighed, then measured with my teaspoons and cups and penciled those numbers in. It’s totally fine. There are also conversion sites on the web that you can use if you don’t have a scale. The other tricky part for us Americans is the temperature. I think the first number is for electric and the second is for gas, but I’m not sure. I just used a conversion calculator on the internet and it was easy. They are totally normal settings and all of my bakes have come out fine. There are a few ingredients that I don’t normally use (like rose syrup and candied lemon), but they can be easily made. I think it is fun to do it. The flavors are just amazing. .

3 – Belgian Dark Couverture Chocolate Semisweet Callets, 54.5% – 5.5 Lbs

Top Reviews
I purchased Callebaut’s Belgian Dark Couverture Chocolate Semisweet Callets to try my hand at chocolate truffles for a Christmas party. I wanted a chocolate with a rich and creamy chocolate flavor, a beautiful sheen, and a firmer snap when broken or bitten into. Callebaut’s Belgian Dark Couverture Semisweet Callets was superb in meeting my requests. It is the ideal chocolate for tempering and dipping. So far I’ve used it to make dark chocolate eggnog truffles, dark chocolate peppermint bark and chocolate dipped madeleines.I do not recommend this for baking as it is couverture chocolate, which means it contains a higher percentage of cocoa butter relative to other ingredients (such as sugar or vanilla), and is ground to a finer texture than baking or eating chocolate. As a result, couverture chocolate is the ideal chocolate for tempering, dipping and making ganache for truffles, bonbons and other fine chocolate candies.Overall Callebaut’s Belgian Dark Couverture Chocolate Semisweet Callets is simply the best for tempering and dipping! Grade A+ .
Used them for the semi-sweet half of my 50% semisweet, 50% bittersweet Cream Ganache. Also tempers very well using the seeding method: Heat two-thirds (by weight) to 120ËšF, add remaining one-third and stir until melted & 90ËšF. Perfect for dipping and piping shapes. .
If you want to melt chocolate, don’t waste time on what you can buy at the grocery store. These chips are designed for piping, molding, dipping, etc. They melt smooth, and the precise tempering temperatures are right on the bag. If you want to experiment with melting chocolate at home, this is the way to go. .
Absolutely excellent. Smooth, dark, and non waxy taste. Extra creamy with a strong not sweet or bitter dark chocolate flavor. Excellent for baking, mirror glaze or candy making. You can use this for anything. I believe these are one of, if not, THE best chocolates on the market. I have purchased milk, white and dark chocolates from just about all their competitors and I come back every time. Going forward I will continue to purchase all of my chocolate here. Milk, dark, white chocolate you can’t go wrong here. Worth every penny. You can taste the excellence of the ingredients. 100% top quality hands down. .

4 – Wilton Chocolate Pro Chocolate Fountain – Chocolate Fondue Fountain, 4 lb. Capacity

Top Reviews
Worked exactly as advertised. I used this for a wedding shower without a trial run and it worked perfectly! It does take 4 pounds of chocolate for it to flow smoothly. Read the directions and follow the suggestions particularly: (1) cover the table with a plastic tablecloth, (2) melt the chocolate before pouring into the bowl, (3) make sure the machine is level (it has adjustable feet), and (4) have an extension cord because the cord is only about two feet long. After use if you plan to clean the machine at another location, two 13-gallon garbage bags and a plastic container will come in handy (to save the leftover melted chocolate – which can be reused – and to transport the machine in one bag and the four removable, chocolate covered parts in the other bag. .
I bought this for my wedding in July, and it worked great. We used Wilton 2-Pack Chocolate Fondue Melting Wafers, 4 lbs, because they don’t require any oil. Pretty easy to operate – there’s only 3 settings: (1) off; (2) preheating and (3) on. So all you do is preheat the melting bowl for 10 mins before adding the chocolate, then melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave for a minute, then pour into the preheating bowl for several more minutes, finally turn on the upper fountains and you’re done. It ran for about 3 hours at my wedding before the guests ate so much chocolate that it wouldn’t run anymore (chocolate wouldn’t go up to the upper fountains). I wrote the above instructions on a piece of paper, taped it to the fountain, and the wedding planner or her assistants were able to set this up no problem. There was a good crowd around this thing, the strawberries were a lot more popular than the bananas and sliced melons. The only thing is it will leave chocolate drippings on the floor table, because the melted chocolate drips off the fruit and gets on the table/floor, especially since children really loved this thing and seemed to spill as much chocolate as they ate. .
LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!And it’s at an amazing price!!!This makes any party a cool party!I’m the mom that ended up learning how to make cake pops, cupcakes with butter cream frosting, rice krispy treats, chocolate covered pretzels at their kids parties and then at other family members parties for “fun”. That gets tiresome and costly! It’s no longer fun.So for my daughters party I decided to get this Fountain and just used strawberries, pineapple, wafers, pretzel rods, marshmallows, and plain Rice Krispies. Less hastle and now I am able to tell other moms “No, I can’t make cake pops or other treats for your kids party” and I’ve directed people to this chocolate fountain on Amazon and where to buy the chocolate.(Chocolate melts from WinCo . you’ll thank me later) .
Very happy we bought this chocolate fountain! Easy setup, works perfectly, we simply followed the directions! Takes a little time to clean, no biggie though. Used it today for our daughters bday party, will use it at all events going forward! It was running a little slow at first, we just turned it back to warm, then turned the pump back on a few seconds later, and it was flowing perfectly! .

5 – Chocolate Mini Favorites Candies 5 lb Bag

Top Reviews
Did not contain the candies as represented no Twix, no Midnight Milky Way. A lot of the pieces were squashed, or had been partially melted. That was partly due to delivery person stuffing the entire 5lb bag into the mailbox! Even so, generally tasted stale. Good price, but ‘you get what you pay for.’ Do not recommend. .
I bought this 5 pound bag of candy to hand out at Halloween. The bag arrived with most of the candies smashed to the point where I don’t feel right giving them to kids. The damage had to come before shipping because the shipping box was not damaged. .
I have ordered before.Due to the extreme heat mine were partially melted.Still tasted good but a bit messy. .
Arrived on time for birthday! All pieces appeared in good condition & flavor fresh. Piñata filled well.Thank you for good transaction speed & quality. Made our “Stay home“ circumstances a bit more enjoyable. Thank you .

6 – ChocZero’s Keto Bark, Dark Chocolate Hazelnuts with Sea Salt. Sugar Free, Low Carb. No Sugar Alcohols, No Artificial Sweeteners, All Natural, Non-GMO (2 bags, 6 servings/each)

Top Reviews
PROS:I have tried both the almond and hazelnut flavours and love both (maybe almonds slightly more? It’s a toss-up!). My first order had loose bars in a bag, which was okay, but I found it more difficult for portion control because this stuff is ADDICTIVE if you like chocolate! My last couple of orders have come as individually-wrapped bars, which is much better for weak individuals like myself. 🙂 Even so, I still have to hide it from myself!CONS: As much as I love the way this chocolate tastes and the wonderful way it is made, it is NOT keto-friendly for my body. It results in MASSIVE blood glucose spikes that last for at least 24 hours. I thought it was a fluke at first, but have since done three separate experiments and each time, this chocolate spikes my blood glucose *more* than chocolate sweetened other ways and the effect lasts for over a day. My blood glucose went from a normal range of 80-100 mg/dL (4.4-4.1 mmol/L) to over 150 mg/dL (8.3 mmol/L) !!. I’m very disappointed because it tastes so fabulous. 🙁 I hope your own experience is different, but wanted to alert other “Ketonians” so they are at least aware of the potential.I also wish they’d use a different form of fiber. Corn sensitivities are rampant thanks to its overuse in *everything*. I’d love to see them use something better. .
I was really torn about what star rating to leave here. This chocolate TASTES great, IMHO. But, as someone with prediabetes who eats a ketogenic diet for health reasons, I bought it to see if I could have a treat that wouldn’t spike my blood sugar. Somehow, with tons of fiber and “2 neg grams of carbs,” this spiked me 20 points after I inadvertently ate 2 ounces. Then, to be fair, I Googled images of a 1-ounce portion and tried again–(WHY is this not portioned in 1-ounce pieces?) and STILL spiked 15 points, both 2 hours afterward and again as a fasting level the next morning. So, if your aim is just to generally cut sugar, go right ahead. But, if you eat keto to prevent progression from prediabetes to diabetes or to control diabetes, this may not be the treat for you. .
So I originally bought this for myself as a low carb diet treat. It tasted good/ fine especially if you’re craving something sweet. My colleague, who is a Type 1 Diabetic (true litmus test if a product is sugar free) tried the bark, and his sugar went above 300. He ate nothing else that would make the sugar jump so high and washed it down with plain water. Many units of insulin later, his sugar went down. Bottom line, it’s false advertising both for the diabetic and for those on low carb diets. Very upsetting! .
I’ll start with that last bit – people are increasingly thinking the net carb calculation doesn’t work, at least for some people, so if you eat this and intend to stay in ketosis some care and monitoring is in order to see what it does with you.But that’s not why I’m going with the one star review – I’m doing that because the same deceptive practice turns out to be typical of the way they operate. The good news is my package came with a very small cold pack, which wasn’t frozen but was at least cool. The bad news is the condensation had totally soaked the product. I dropped the seller a polite heads up note and wow, I got back this long message blaming everybody else and saying even if the product was soaked, or melted, or if the gel leaked, or any of a slew of apparently common complaints it didn’t matter, suck it up. .

7 – Zing Whey Protein Bar | Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, 12 Count |Real Dark Chocolate| 13g Protein and 8g Fiber | Vegan, Gluten-Free, Non-GMO | Created by Professional Nutritionists

Top Reviews
This makes for a nice pick-me-up in the afternoon or early evening, especially following having hit the gym — I’m liking the dark chocolate coconut with a cup of ice coffee especially. These easily beat out most of the competition, the sickly sweet protein bars that you might find at the grocery store or GNC:* 10 g protein* 7 g fiber* non-GMO* most (not all) ingredients are organicThese are solid, the real deal.I need to say that these are pretty sweet, and the bars fall apart in the heat. Flip side, if you leave them in the fridge, you’re risking losing a tooth if you bit into one without leaving it out for some bit of time. These could serve as meal replacement in a pinch, but I’m not sure you’d really want to go that route as part of a weight-loss plan. This is good for the gym bag/brief case or to grab if you’re running out the door. While I like the dark chocolate coconut, I wasn’t crazy about the cookie dough, which is too sweet. Before buying a box of these, you may wish to buy one or two flavors at a local store to see if you’re into the texture. .
The first rule of nutrition/snack/energy bars when it comes to adding chocolate; put the chocolate INSIDE the bar.Clif, RX Bar, Larabar, Powerbar (the energy bar type, not the protein type), Raw Revolution all put chocolate inside their products, not on the outside where it will melt and make a mess. The Zing Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar chocolate coating was melted and messy upon delivery (from Amazon), and of course since it was a 90 degree August day. So I put the bars in the refrigerator, but that made the bars impossible to bite into! The melted coating sticks to the wrapper so when the bar is opened, it’s either a gooey mess, or if the bar has cooled since it its initial exposure to heat bits of chocolate fall off onto your hands, onto your clothes, onto the floor you get the idea. Either way it’s a bloody mess.So this Zing bar has a very narrow temperature range of usability – I’d say 50ËšF to 70ËšF is it. You can’t put one of these Zing bars in your pocket or cycling jersey without creating a real mess when it’s opened, and you can’t keep them cold without breaking your teeth on them.Otherwise, the Zing Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter bar tastes decent. It has a chewy consistency, not as sticky as a Tootsie Roll but about as stiff. I recommend small bites. It’s not too sweet and the peanut flavor is modest. The chocolate could be better – it isn’t all that rich. It didn’t wow me.One of these bars keeps me satiated for a couple of hours and for me has a glycemic index low enough that my insulin doesn’t spike. But keep in mind these bars do have sugar.Zing makes a big deal about the fact their products are created By professional nutritionists yeah well those professional nutritionists might want to learn a thing or two about the melting point of chocolate. .
Bought with 12 packs of Cashew Cranberry and 12 pack of Almond Blueberry. I am not a fan of chocolate, but this flavor in particular is my favorite of the 3. Easy to eat, not to chewy. I hear dark chocolate has a very bitter taste, and i can vaguely remember the taste pure dark chocolate. This wasn’t bad, I think the hazelnut evened out the taste really well. I would recommend this product to those who find zing bars hard to consume and love chocolate. Would I buy this again though? Probably not, because i really am not a fan of chocolate =/Cashew Cranberry Orange::::Product if very chewy. I do not have a sweet tooth, so this one in particular was very sweet. Out of the 3 I bought, this is the one i like the least. I bought this for my work to keep at my desk for snacking. After a while I started giving this flavor away to my co-workers. I’m sure its good, but for my taste buds, it was way to sweet for me. I did not mind the gum chewing texture, but I wouldn’t prefer it. It took some time to consume this.Almond Blueberry::::This flavor was my 2nd best of the three i bought. You can really taste the almond and blueberry, it is very distinct. The only downside to this flavor for me was that it was very chewy and hard to bite. It would often get stuck to my teeth and i have to pry really hard with my tongue to get it off. Other than that, the flavor was great. I would put this above the Dark Chocolate Hazelnut, if it were easier to consume. Overall I would recommend this to others if you don’t mind that chewing battle. .
I am very disappointed that Zing changed the recipe, not just the wrapper. This flavor of Zing bar was already perfect, so the change has inevitably made it worse. It is more chewy now — like caramel. It is still good, just not great. .

10 – Callebaut Chocolate Callets Semisweet (small discs) 53.8% cacao 2 lbs

Top Reviews
Excellent quality chocolate for making Jacques Torres bittersweet chocolate chip cookies with Maldon sea salt. They turned out better than I could have possibly imagined and it has to do with the quality of chocolate. I ordered another bag so I can have some on hand to make again. Well with the cost!! .
Superior flavor and texture to any supermarket chocolate chips for baking cookies or for recipes that call for semisweet chocolate that will be melted and mixed into a batter for example. While I can get various brands of bulk/block gourmet chocolate in local stores (including Callebaut, Valrhona etc.), the shards and flakes get ALL OVER the place if I have to chop it up for a recipe, not to mention my hand gets sore from pressing the knife through hard chocolate so many times. These “callets” (chips) are the same taste and quality as the block without any of the mess and effort. I’ve done side by side taste comparisons to all available supermarket semisweet chocolate chips (Hershey’s, Nestle’s, Ghiradelli, and a few random ‘natural’ or gourmet brands I came across) and the Callebaut is far superior, it’s not even a close contest. I find myself constantly reaching in and grabbing a handful to eat if the bag is open, I love the taste and texture. .
Unfortunately, this chocolate was bloomed when it arrived. It has a thin coat of white on it; it should be dark brown and shiny.More unfortunate still is I bought these to temper and make bonbons out of for Christmas. This chocolate is unusable for that purpose, as bloomed chocolate will be less snappy, even grainy, and the white bloom will reappear when the chocolate is set (even if it appears to go away when it is melted).Given this is high-quality chocolate that should be suitable for tempering and making chocolate candies out of, this is very disappointing (and expensive). .
I love callebaut. I really do. But I received chocolate callets that are inedible this time. Not only were the chocolates different in color (I ordered dark chocolate, but there were caramel-colored ones mixed in there), they were poorly stored so there was significant bloom on the surfaces. The callets tasted off and grainy as well. I am surprised that I received such a terrible bag of chocolates. I am not sure if I can trust them any more. .

11 – Dove Dark Chocolate Promises, 8.87 Ounce Bag (Pack of 2)

Top Reviews
I love these Dove chocolates. The individually wrapped chocolates make it easy and convenient to take along without any mess. I’ve had finer chocolates, but these are a great everyday treat if you have a dark chocolate addiction! What I DON’T like however, is the very confusing multiple packaging options containing different quantities of chocolates at different pricing! One needs a calculator to place an order, to get the best per/piece or per/oz price A practice that may me advantageous for the Mars company, but awful for the consumer! .
Arrived with a melted cold pack in the box and must have either melted or froze in transit. The usually creamy texture was so grainy and flavor so bad, after tasting a few I had to throw them away. They are not returnable. Don’t waste your money. .
The last bag of the Dive Dark Chocolate Promises I received was filled with candy that was no longer fresh. As a result, the chocolates do not melt well and that’s why I ordered them. .
Best dark chocolate around! Smooth, delicious, and rich taste. .

12 – Mars SNICKERS, TWIX, 3 MUSKETEERS and MILKY WAY Minis Size Easter Bulk Chocolate Candy Variety Mix, 67.2-Ounce 240 Pieces (Packaging May Vary)

Top Reviews
My review is only a reflection of the price and not the quality of the product.I paid $25 for this 4-lb bag and I found a 5.6 lb bag in Costco for $15.Long story short, do not overpay if the price is $15 or higher. .
These are mini (borderline micro), and as others have noted, a very unbalanced mix. Heavy on the Three Musketeers super light on the Twix. I wouldn’t buy this again. .
Love this item!! The picture on here don’t do justice pertaining to the size of the bag I’m EXTREMELY pleased with this product!! Defiantly will reorder!! Lol well wen I finish this huge bag thumbs up. .
In the entire bag there was only 10 Twix! These aren’t even the regular mini bars they’re the one bite size squares so out of a huge bag you get 10 bites of Twix. Seeing other reviews I’m not the only one that had this happen. Poor quality control. Very disappointed because the Twix is my favorite but I’m stuck with almost all Milky Way and Mars. .

The chocolates were all melted inside. The package has been transported and kept in very hot environment. Not good! .
Love it .
I love these chocolates and thought it would be nice to have a big pack to share at work, so I ordered them. Unfortunately, there was no packaging adjustment for weather and they sat on my west-facing front porch in the hot southwest all afternoon. By the time I was home from work and opened them, every one had been affected by the heat (I think it’s called bloom — where the outer part turns powdery and bitter). No more chocolate from Amazon unless it specifies heat-proof packaging. .

14 – Mcvities Digestive Dark Chocolate 300g 3 Pack

Top Reviews
I have purchased this biscuit for decades-from Amazon & local California outlets. Earlier in 2019 I began to correspond with the UK manufacturers. Born & raised in the UK, this biscuit has always been part of my life. NO longer. They swear nothing changed. NOT TRUE. 1) have always kept one pack in airtight container in fridge-so it is CRISP when one bites into it- now is soggy, no crispiness, crumbles- PLUS is so sweet I can’t eat 2) Dark chocolate is NOT dark chocolate=it is milk chocolate with added color!!=too sweet. The SAD news is I can give you the LOGIC. Americans love candies, jams etc., far too sweet for the British tooth. As American companies buy British classics they CHANGE the recipes. I KNOW this for sure. When I fly out out LHR, I bring back KIK KAT, McViete DARK chocolate biscuits. When KIT KAT did not taste the way it always had, I called ROWNTREE in Yorkshire re come so sweet Customer Service gentleman honest enough (I am a Northerner so appreciated it) to tell me that since product bought by US, they have had to change their recipes. I could go into therapy about this whole concept of buying quality food then reducing quality for higher profits. Then why buy quality item & a name?! I thank Amazon for making such a wide range of ‘stuff’ available to members. Amazon can only take product on good faith. It is up to us, the consumer, to keep these vendors who think fans do not know/care when quality changes. UPDATE REVIEW May 2020. I got onto site today to track Reviews on this product (as I packed up 5 rolls of these biscuits to give away). As I ALWAYS do when checking Reviews I check MOST RECENT reviews first. Bottom line all the 5 star reviews for McVitie dark chocolate go back many years .I could not find one positive review dated 2020, 2019. 2018, 2017. I still buy my British cereals (via Canada) my British jams etc. .
I like these enough that I have ordered them several times. Be careful though. In this last shipment I received, the chocolate was all melted and the biscuits stuck together. I didn’t realize it until a month or so later because I didn’t have reason to open them right away. If the seller can’t guarantee cool shipment, then the buyer should not order in warm weather. .
Great biscuits! They’ve been my favorites for years since I grew up in the UK. For some reason they aren’t commonly sold in US supermarkets. When my three packs arrived they were in a box which I took into my house immediately. When I opened the box there were the three packs with a small cooler pouch which had completely run out and reverted to warm liquid. I opened one pack and saw the chocolate was all melted and the biscuits stuck together. It was impossible to separate them without breaking them into little pieces. I still managed to eat them though it was a delicate and messy operation. Not very enjoyable but I wasn’t going to lose my money. Conclusion: Not adequately packed. Very disappointing. Not worth ordering on line! .
I would really like to not be addicted to these but I am. I can’t seem to time delivery correctly, as I believe they’re shipped from England, so I have to endure some milk-toast Italian biscuit while I wait. McVities Digestives with dark chocolate make tea time absolutely mandatory. I’m sooo glad I found these, and ordering on Amazon is quick and painless except for the wait time. .

Don’t hesitate to order!First off delicious! Premium chocolate with dark chocolate coating over softer, milder sweet creamy chocolate centers. But here’s what impressed me product arrived in a large (I remember thinking “what is this!?? And I’m talking middle of Arizona summer, out in the country, remote Cochise County still cold.I was so impressed with their packing, don’t hesitate to order! .
These rich and creamy dark chocolates from Godiva melt in your mouth. Perfect bite-sized dark-chocolate beautifies are absolutely addicting. I’m hooked. I hope Godiva sells these treasures for many years to come. OMG – soooooooo good! .
It was delivered on time. The packaging was OK. Unfortunately, when I open the candy individual wrapping the cndy was smashed. The caramel had oozed out. It was messy. All six bags were OK. Candy wrapping was OK. It was the candy inside the wrapping was smashed. At least one candy in each bag was smashed. I like this candy. But, the smashed candy didn’t taste that flavorful. .
This is the best piece of chocolate that I’ve ever eaten. I’m diabetic, and I eat one or two pieces of candy in the evening if my numbers have been good all day, and I choose this piece of candy. Also, when it arrived, I was blown away. It arrived in a Styrofoam cooler with ice packs, so it all was in perfect condition. I bought a case, which is six bags, so I’m set for awile. .

16 – Ferrero Rocher Fine Hazelnut Milk Chocolate, 24 Count, Chocolate Candy Gift Box, 10.5 oz

Top Reviews
I love this product BUT, huge BUT which deserves only one star, is the fact that the package arrived too late by three days, very unusual for Amazon! Plus they mailed the chocolates without any heat protection, which was aggravated by the mail carrier just leaving them on top of the mailbox in the blazing midday sun. Come on, Amazon, what’s going on??? Of course no one returns chocolates, but I’m hugely disappointed!***** for Ferrero Rocher truffles* for Amazon completely botching this order .
All I’m gonna say is if you love Ferrerro Rocher, you won’t regret this purchase. Lol. .
Very delicious! Love these! Definitely a Christmas favorite! The gift box is so nice, easy to wrap or through a bow on! A bit costly though. sometimes you have to splurge! .
I love it and it was packed nicely in cold box. .

17 – Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600 (Black)

Top Reviews
While I’m satisfied, I don’t like it. This might be subjective, or circumstantial rather. But I’ve been typing a long time, doing it well, and very quickly on a vast amount of keyboards. This keyboard is the only one where I have literally typed entire sentences on auto pilot that where every single key I hit was to the right of the one I actually wanted to press. I hit backspace more than I’ve ever hit it before in my life. I hit two keys at once more than I ever have in my life. These downsides far overwhelm the upsides to me. I’d strongly recommend anyone considering this to get a keyboard reviewed as a keyboard with “well-placed buttons”. No matter the typist you are I suggest that, you don’t want to get stuck learning the button placement of this keyboard too well because it’s likely the only one with keys placed the way this one has. .
This keyboard is a replacement for my 6 year old HP keyboard, that finally bit the big one. This keyboard has many great little features, like volume control buttons for those of us who have a monitor with built in speakers, and in particular those of us whose monitor speaker volume button broke, and can only control the volume via the windows icon or the keyboard *ahem*. It also has a little calculator button in the corner. As someone who is studying for his engineering degree, this little button is already coming in handy! The keyboard itself is quite ergonomic, with the keys gently curving to enable faster typing. It’s taking a little adjusting for me, as I’m used to the old fashioned keyboards that are flat, but I’m already noting a faster typing speed than before. The other nice feature, which I mentioned in the title, is that the keyboard is so quiet! My other keyboard clackety clacked, and the volume buttons were loud popping noises, but this keyboard and it’s buttons are super quiet. This is what ninjas use when they have to Google their targets. Nice and stealthy. As a final note, let me also say that the build quality is solid. This keyboard looks and acts like a keyboard that would cost significantly more than the $19 I paid for it. If you’re looking for a balance between quality, features, and price, this is the keyboard to buy.All in all, I love this keyboard, and I’m glad I finally gave in and bought one. I highly recommend it. .
This is a fantastic keyboard. The price might not give that away, but it’s easily one of the best I’ve used in recent years, despite some very minor flaws.I’ve been using it for a few months now, and work from home so I’m typing away on it daily. My previous keyboards were insanely loud, and honestly hurt to use after a while. This is definitely a different case: it’s quiet enough that I can use it late at night without being a nuisance, and typing is honestly comfortable. There’s a very slight vertical curve for the key placement, and it absolutely helps with how typing on it feels. The build quality is also far better than you’d expect for the price – I’ve picked up very crappy keyboards with very low build quality for $15, and went into this expecting to potentially replace it after a while. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. That’s most of the positives, but now on to my (pretty minor) gripes:While the media keys are mostly fine, I feel like they both could and should be placed farther from the function keys. I end up lowering my volume just about every single time I go to push F6, which is sadly often. The function keys also feel a tad small for my preference, but that’s not a gigantic issue. All in all, this is a recommended buy. It’s a fantastic keyboard for the price of an okay one, and I’m likely going to end up stocking up on these things somewhere down the line unless I decide to go with a full ergonomic design next. .
I ordered four of these keyboards because I do an extensive amount of PC repair in the field. I purchased six of these keyboards about five years ago and they are all still functional. When you need a quick economical replacement keyboard, this one provides a quick solution every time. The part I like best is the calculator key that instantly prompts the calculator function when you are in a hurry. It also has the ability to increase, decrease, or mute the sound when you need a quick adjustment if the phone rings or when you want to adjust the sound level. I highly recommend this keyboard as I am an Industry Certified PC repair technician. You really don’t need to spend a lot of money when you go to buy a replacement keyboard. This one averages only about fourteen dollars which is a great price when you have several computers at work or at home. .

18 – Arpan Soft Touch Conference Folder Portfolio A4 with Calculator & Pad – Chocolate Brown

Top Reviews
Excellent product indeed!! Needed a folder to help me organise my paperwork during meetings. This beautiful and elegant folder turns out to be what I needed!! Leather look and great finishing. Looks expensive! Very practical and large enough to contain A4 papers!! The calculator inside is indeed an added bonus!! Not bulky, just right! Excellent price!!As a business woman, this elegant and classy looking folder is indeed the folder needed to organise my hectic endless paperwork and meetings.Highly recommended!! .
This is just what I wanted. I have been carrying round paperwork, phone and purse for ages in a shoulder bag for a long time, but due to arthritis the weight was making life very difficult. One day I had to carry the bag in my arms and found it wasn’t so painful, so I looked for a portfolio that could accommodate all my documents. This fitted the bill exactly. It is very well made, it looks smart and being A4 it takes everything I need. The zipped pockets will take a small purse, my phone ,and my tablet slides in neatly. I didn’t need the calculator, but it is still useful. A great buy! .
Lovely thing.Showed off to my friends who were all impressed with the £11 price tag.One said that it looked similar to a £50 one that he had bought, although to the touch this felt a little more plasticky. Hardly a criticism. Especially as his had none of the internal compartments or calculator. If I were to note one thing is that the A4 sized pouch on the calculator side is pretty much exactly A4. While this is good for keeping documents snug, it takes an annoyingly large amount of effort and time to place A4 pages in there if trying to avoid creasing the paper.Besides that minor niggle, it’s a wonderful product. .
Very small. Its is size A4 – it means you cannot keep A4 documets inside this folder, because folder size is the same as your documents – A4. Nice marketing catch . Pad is smoller than A4 When I remove notepad and calculator I could fit some A4 papers inside but a zip will not close and its a risk of documents damage.THIS IS NOT A4-DOCUMENTS FOLDER! its to small .

19 – THY COLLECTIBLES Vintage-Style 17 Digit Rods Wooden Abacus Soroban Chinese Japanese Calculator Counting Tool w/ Reset Button 14″

Top Reviews
Invented by the Chinese, the Abacus was originally a 2:5 (heaven : earth) layout with nine rods to accommodate hexadecimal computation. Suanpan techniques have been developed to do addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root, and even cube root calculations at high speed. With a minimum height of 8 inches, it allows for quick movements of the beads with accuracy.Fast forward a many hundred years and a modern Abacus is a 1:4 layout with it’s height compressed to about half. There are coloured beads to indicate position and some even come with a reset button so you don’t have to use centrifugal forces to clear it.This is one of the modern abacuses. There’s really not much to say about these things, they’re very simple tools made of wood, metal rods, and plastic beads. This particular one does have the reset button and three rubber lets on the bottom to help keep the abacus in place.I purchased three of these and only one had some problems with beads sticking together on certain rods. Nothing some rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab couldn’t fix. They have a smaller size one, which I would not recommend at all. This one is bigger and definitely worth the few extra bucks. The only thing I would like is a little more height, there simply isn’t enough room for the beads to move. As you get more proficient with the abacus, your movements become more quick and more sharp. If you exert any force on these beads, Newton’s laws come into play and the opposing force of contact can really mess you up so no flicking! .
I’ve been meaning to learn the abacus for years.I bought this model because it looked attractive and fairly durable. In fact, it is an attractive unit and works just fine. With care, I suspect it will last for many years. After buying the abacus, I belatedly did some research at YouTube and found that the layout of this abacus is slightly non-standard. For example, the most user friendly abacus have beads arranged in a 3-3-3-3 style using alternating bead colors. Dark beads and light beads, in alternating groups of three. This abacus uses all black beads except for the top-left bead which in this design is chocolate brown, rather than the red beads shown in the product photo. And this contributes to my main objection;Because the frame is dark wood, the beads are dark, and the area under the frame is in shadow, it can be difficult to see the beads. If this product used two shades of blond woods for the beads, legibility would have been greatly improved. The small brass nail marker pointers are also miss-aligned with the bead groups compared to other abacus I have seen. The mechanical action and bead sliding freedom are OK and with three rubber feet underneath in a kind of tripod arrangement, the abacus is very stable. I just wish it had the alternating 3 x 3 pattern I have seen on some other abacus. And my only serious issue is with the busy visual presentation that lighter blond wood beads would have nicely addressed. Still, it is a good buy. I may buy another abacus with lighter wooden beads for much better visibility. .
Nicely made. Little bit of wood threads in corners, but nothing more. Wiped it away. Nice size, and everything works nicely. Beads swish, reset button is good. I like the 1’s unit, 1,000, 1,000,000, 1,000,000,000, etc, are color coded with a reddish bead. I wanted a set with alternating bead colors for every 3 rods. But this was better than no color dividers to help see your rod more accurately. This package was shipped ECO friendly, no box, just bubble wrapped inside a bubble lined envelop. So, if this is a gift, you will need to consider a long/tall gift bag.I am not sure if this is just the nature of an abacus or lack of a professional model of abacus, but if you swish the beads too hard, they can bounce out of place. Maybe it’s just our technique that is not good. But I wanted to point that out. We still love the abacus we received. .
Would like to talk to the seller but can’t find a way to contact them. The packaging arrived fine but the frame is loose and it causes the rods to be angled, it arrived with one of the feet completely missing and the third one removed from the frame. The bamboo support rods are warped. And one of the screws was not installed. I had also bought the 13 rod soroban and was very pleased with it, which prompted me to purchase the 17 rods version to help teach my boys. I’m very displeased with the 17 rod soroban and will be returning it once I purchase a different one unless the seller can offer a replacement before that time. .

21 – Ghirardelli Chocolate Milk Chocolate & Caramel Squares Chocolates Gift Bag, 5.32 oz.

Top Reviews
I ordered this product in Dec 2018 , the “Best By:” date on the product was March 2018 . I don’t know whether I am supposed to use it or not because it may be stale . I did not open the chocolate to eat as it was meant to be a gift . .
the milk chocolate melts in your mouth and the caramel is so creamy. make sure to not order in the summer otherwise you’re gonna have melted squares in each little individually wrapped chocolate. .
I love G chocolate, but this arrived in a broken pieces mess. Caramel was everywhere in the bed. It wasn’t melted, but it was just a broken, gooey mess. .
I bought this to give to my best friend because she has this every day. They are delicious and delectable. The caramel and chocolate are a perfect ratio and they melt in your mouth. .

22 – Ghirardelli Milk and Caramel Filled Squares Large Bag, 9.04 Ounce

Top Reviews
This item arrived a bit dinged up and when I removed the descriptive sticker in the back it revealed a “Marshall’s $7.99” sticker behind it. I paid about $19 for this. It was not great to see so clearly that the price for the item was marked way up and knowing it was already reduced price, who knows how old the chocolates actually are. .
These were Old not fresh. I have been eating these for years. Poor quality. Or bad batch. Either way Will not order again. .
These were melted in transit so now instead of nice squares by the front desk for our clients and visitors, we have chocolate with white spots on them in the shape of a squircle (which is a square and a circle). And everyone knows chocolate tastes bad when it’s been melted and re-hardened. Sorry for the bad review but it is quite a bummer. .
The bag came in great condition, as did the chocolates. If you’ve ever had Ghiradelli you know exactly what to expect– a perfect ratio of chocolate to caramel. Very thin squares. Not an overwhelming amount of chocolate. It’s the perfect bite to silence your sweet tooth. If you know someone who is having a rough time or feeling down then these are a great gesture to send. My mom sends me bags of these just-because, and they do not last long! My roommate and I devour them.Very good if you are a caramel lover. .

Simple to understand rules, fast gameplay. .
I funded this game on Kickstarter based on the theme and mechanics. This is a great family game. It has elements of dominoes, rummy, and Ticket to Ride. My 11-year old plays it, but I think an 8-year-old would have no problems either. A game takes about 30 minutes and I think it has a good balance of simplicity and planning that appeals to non-gamers. So, we play with friends and family when they visit. .

24 – Mcvities Dark Chocolate Digestives 300g Pack of 4

Love these biscuits! Bought them for a recipe for Chocolate Biscuit Cake which I can HIGHLY recommend — (but warning I received 500g size not 300g size — 500g is too much for this recipe)1 Cup Cream4 Bars Lindt Chocolate with Sea Salt (broken into small pieces) plus 1 cup of dark Chocolate Ghirardelli chips2 Tsp Lyle’s Golden Syrup (I think corn syrup would work)4 Tbs butter1 cup dried cranberries (I prefer the low sugar ones)1 cup pecans1 Tsp. Vanilla extract1 package Mcvities Dark Chocolate Digestives 300ge size broken into bite size pieces — I break them into fourths.Prepare a 10 inch springform pan by lining with plastic wrap using two pieces criss crossed in the pan and spraying with nonstick spray.Put the cream, syrup and butter in a large microwave bowl and heat for 90 seconds to 2 minutes or until boiling.Remove bowl from microwave and put in chocolate bars and chips and stir until it is blended and you have a ganache.Add the vanilla, cranberries, pecans and biscuits.Put into spring form pan and chill for 2 to 3 hours. .
These were bought as a gift for my wife and she really likes them. Surprisingly, they are mostly intact (well, the one package that she’s opened so far) even after arriving in a box without any packing material. They were just bouncing around inside an empty box (see photo). I was expecting to see crumbs but so far there are only a couple of broken cookies. Still, the moron who packed these should have known better. .
Consistent with other customers, all of our packets had melted and fused together. You can tell without even opening them by just feeling for movement. Could well be a transit issue, but given others experiences, more likely a storage issue. There are few things more enjoyable than this product, yet few things more infuriating and disappointing than having to hack apart a biscuity clump with a knife. .
These cookies will store for months (actaully years), STOCK UP in the winter you can store them in the fridge if you’re worried, but we’ve always stored them in airtight plastic ziplocks in a cupboard. And in the days before ziplocks and sell by/use by dates .there was never a problem. Must store them airtight though. .

27 – Ozeri Touch III 22 lb (10 kg) Digital Kitchen Scale with Calorie Counter in Tempered Glass, Red Engine

Top Reviews
I wss hesitant to buy these as I wss unsure if they would be fast enough to use, but they are great. The message when you turn them on only lasts long enough for you to pick something up and place it on them – around 1.5-2 seconds. So the they are pretty much instant on.I do not need the calorific calculator and it almost put me off, but I found they were all separate buttons and did not impede using them as regular scales. One great feature is they remember which setting yoh had them on last, so you don’t need to switch through settings every time you power them on. If you have set them to measure grams and let them power-off, then the next time you power them on they’ll still be set to measure grams which saves a lot of time! The backlit LCD screen is very high contrast with large digits. The display is very easy to read with its light-blue text on dark-blue background.I love that the entire top of the scales, including the touch-sensitive buttons, is all tempered glass. It makes keeping it clean very easy. They won’t measure anything below 5-6grams – this is because of the automatic power-saving. I have not found my scales to waver between measurements like one review I read. The readings on my scales are stable and react very fast perhaps there has been a firmware change between the current and older model?I love them. I just hope that neither my wife or I happen to drop them! .
Terrible. It didn’t measure anything accurately – the number never settled, and instead kept going up or down (randomly). I tested it with an apple, and it measured it as ranging from ~100g – 1000g. It’s pretty and I was excited at how sleek it was, but buy something better! Luckily the return process was easy, but there are plenty of comparable scales that actually work. .
I bake. Trying to use this to measure 10g salt or 5g yeast is useless, it doesn’t even notice added weight, so I put some calibration weights on it. 1g, add 2g, add 3g. still at 0. Add the 10g weight, it jumps to 9g .This is some pretty garbage, do not buy, or at least keep the box unlike me! 🙂 .
I’m a little disappointed that after putting food on here that it will continue to adjust for a good 5-10 seconds after instead of showing immediately. It’s perfectly usable and goes down to the units that I need and it is waterproof, unlike my previous scale, so there’s that at least. .

Fun size bars, not the tiny little minis. Great bag and assortment for Halloween! .
Excellent these were a great hit as I passed them out to kids all over the island of Bohol in thr Philippines. My Fiancé and I love to treat kids that may not know where their next meal comes from with a treat randomly. To see someone’s eyes light up like you have them a million dollars is priceless and the three bags were perfect for this Second time purchasing and they love it each time thank you. .
I purchased these for a work function. All the candy bars were melted and discolored due to the cocoa butter separating from the chocolate. Not only were the bars unsightly, but the chocolate had a gritty consistency. This product is nonreturnable. Never again! .
Love the variety all my favorites .
