1 – Leica DISTO D2 New 330ft Laser Distance Measure with Bluetooth 4.0, Black/Red

If I had know the apps required a monthly or yearly subscription I would have bought something else. Way over priced to be charged for the app subscriptions. The Free apps are terrible. I wouldn’t care if it was a one time fee but I’m not paying for poor apps over and over again. .
Full disclosure, I have two others, a BOSH Professional GLM 30 & a Kobalt LDM-35. Leica made a good device, that’s not in question, but out of all of them the BOSH is my favorite to use even though it doesn’t have the Leica’s range, hence the 4-star rating.I bought this specifically to use for the DISTO (bluetooth) integration with Xactimate’s Mobile App for Insurance Adjusting. While it worked in the way it was advertised, I felt the entire process was one step forward and two steps backward in relation to sketching on a sheet of paper and then recreating it in the software. Despite my many poor experiences with Xactimate’s integration, I still had high hopes for Leica’s own App software but that was a let down too. Like other reviewers had mentioned, without the scaling feature, the App is absolutely lacking for professional use.The D2 is made to handle a lot of abuse, no question about it. It’s very well constructed. I’m a big fan of the battery compartment access method, the pull out arm/shelf that creates a right angle for squaring edges of walls, etc. is awesome – I wish more companies had that feature. The short amount of time for holding down the ‘CLEAR OFF’ button is the best out of all of the devices for turning the device off and it has the best viewing angles out of all of my other laser pointers. I also really appreciate how by default the backlight remains active even though it’s unclear how this will affect the overall battery usage, but here’s where it’s lacking for me and it’s simple, it’s not comfortable to use.I can picture this device being used in extremely cold weather and someone with big gloves on using it without issue; You’re not accidentally going to trigger this device, everything requires intent. The buttons are stiff, too stiff for what I prefer when using it one handed which is 90% of the way I use a meter in the field, with the index finger triggering the laser calculation and the other fingers stabilizing the device on the wall. You may think I’m complaining, but when you’re measuring 30+ walls per house and you’re doing multiple houses per day 7 days a week, it makes a big difference. To use an Analogy, the Leica D2 is like a tank. It’s going to take a lot to destroy it, it’s extremely well built. It’s designed to get a job done and it will do that. But like a tank, it’s not a smooth ride. This device is not comfortable to hold one-handed, especially in relation to the BOSH. Leica had made their buttons extremely low profile too in relation to other manufacturers and while I believe I can understand this methodology, for my use it makes this device more of a pain to use because it requires that much more effort to trigger the button. When using the device one-handed, the index finger is already in a compromised position where the finger is weaker than normal.I get Leica is Swiss made, BOSH is Malaysia, and Kobalt is Chinese, but in testing, the BOSH was just as accurate as the Leica every single time. I think I’ll keep the Leica given its distance is the largest out of all of the other devices as it’s always good to have extra ones in the field as a backup. I can especially see a use for commercial properties given its range. It’s my hope that they improve the Bluetooth functionality on all Apps, but the BOSH Professional GLM 30 is still going to be my go-to pointer when measuring distances 100′ and less. That baby is easy on the finger when doing lots of measuring. .
The new Disto D2 has Bluetooth functionality, which makes it very easy to transfer measurements from the laser meter to apps like Leica’s own Disto Sketch (free) or MagicPlan (free app, you pay per floor plan). You used to have to buy the expensive high-end models like my E7500i to get this functionality, and those were heavier and more complex to use due to a plethora of functions. They also increased the range by 50%, which is nice.Unfortunately, the device build quality seems to have gone down. The rubber overmold has very sharp edges, which makes it less comfortable to hold. The flip-up bottom plate for measurements is now plastic instead of metal, and the red-black zebra striped on the side look outright tacky, while not providing a more secure grip than the older D2.All in all, the price difference between the two models is small enough that I would still recommend the Bluetooth model to get the streamlined workflow, but I wish it were built to the same standards as the older device .
I wanted to be able to give this 5 stars but it needs to be able to set the measurements to display 1/16’s. I’m a trim carpenter and I use the D2 every day to measure walls. Speed is money to me and errors can be expensive in cost of wasted time and materials. For trim that I am doing my measurements need to be accurate to 1/16th of an inch this measures in 32nds of an inch. So if I’m measuring a room for baseboard it will give me a wall measure of something like 161 and 27/32, I have to quickly convert that to 161 and 13/16th. There’s a lot of chance for error when you’re trying to move fast. That’s my major complaint with the D2. The bluetooth would be nice if the software that went with it worked. If you want to use use the distro sketch app to sketch a room you will be very disappointed. The app says you can add doors and windows, and maybe you can but I haven’t been able to figure it out. There are no instructions on the app so if someone knows how to do it please post a video or some instructions because it would be a handy app. On the good side the D2 is very accurate at distances over 12 inches less than that, use a tape measure . The display is easy to read, the numbers are large enough to read and it is back lit. The batteries last a long time also. .

2 – BACtrack Element Breathalyzer | Professional-Grade Accuracy | DOT & NHTSA Compliant | Portable Breath Alcohol Tester for Personal & Professional Use, Black

I love this breathalyzer. It is compact, easy to use, and for personal use, you can keep re-using the mouth piece. I am very familiar with breathalyzers since I was a breath alcohol technician trainer for many years and have extensive experience with professional breathalyzers and their use in a medical clinic. This device functions just like the one that we used in the clinic, and the readings appear to be correct based upon my theoretical knowledge of relationship between alcohol intake and breath readings. It is a great safety device so you can decide when to leave driving to another person. .
Innacurate. Readings taken at the same time vary widely. Not useful at all. NOTE product cannot be returned either. .
Works very well! Seemingly quite accurate (no problems so far when utilized before breathing into standard issue interlocken device). This device can mean the difference between a violation or a clean BAC. Highly recommend. .
Used it for the first time. Tried it 10 times between 3 people to test it out. It worked 5 out of the 10 times. The other times it displayed Flo meaning there was not a good reading. Adults blowing hard into the machine should make it work, it is not working properly, it only works half the time. Would return it but I have had it 2 months before I first used it and there is only a 30 day return window. .

3 – Calculator for Kindle

Top Reviews
I’m not sure why Kindles don’t come with a calculator already installed, but they apparently don’t. When I need an app, I always look for a free one, and this fit that requirement. It works as expected, with no problem. .
Downloaded this to my kindle so I would have a calculator nearby when I needed one, I have used it several times. Keeps me from having to walk upstairs to my office to get my business calculator .
I needed a better looking calculator than the stock app that came with my phone since the app I used for like 7 years stop working with the Android 10 version. I do not care for it very basic, no bells or whistles. If you need a calculator, this is the best out of the ones that are available. .
The calculator fills my entire Kindle screen, so it’s very easy to see and use. .
