I am the GM of two sober homes in Chicago, and we have used BACtrack since we opened 4 years ago. I just replace our original Trace, and got a second one about two years ago. I find them to be accurate and reliable. I like the disposable mouthpieces, as I sometimes breathalyze 23 men in two hours. (The mouthpieces are dishwasher safe, by the way!)As a side note, I don’t recommend the recalibration service, just save your time & money and buy a new one. (There’s a good chance they are just going to tell you it wasn’t serviced often enough, and can’t be recalibrated anyway.) .
TL DR: It’s a toy, buy literally anything else.This breathalyzer sucks, it is completely inaccurate. The build quality sucks and it’s akin to a toy cheaply made and runs on AAA batteries. it’s a piece of crap. I followed the directions to the T and tested without having a drink, came up zero which is great. I had one beer waited 20 minutes as per the instructions and it came up zero. Thought to myself that it’s probably within the margin of error, so I’ll have another beer and try it again. Once again came up zero. I even waited the recommended time. Normally I wouldn’t be all that surprised because a real breathalyzer it’s going to cost several hundred to thousands of dollars and needs to be calibrated regularly, but it seems to me that they’re masquerading this product as “ professional-grade” They even have a picture of a cop holding this piece of garbage. I mean maybe I got a bad one and it’s just poor quality control but even still it seems like given what this product is, that’s unacceptable. I think it’s very likely that someone’s either going to get very hurt using this product or is going to be arrested with a DUI or even possibly killed. Also this is an Amazon recommended product I really have no idea how Amazon could endorse such a piece of crap. This seems like a massive liability on their end. Interestingly enough all of the reviews on this are 5 out of 5. I’m genuinely starting to believe that the vast majority of them are fake. it’s also very difficult to find accurate information on this product.Just look for yourself it’s either companies, probably getting paid to review it or stuff from the back track website. I usually check Reddit and there’s very little information on Reddit. I think it’s a complete scam. it feels chintzy as crap and it doesn’t work. do yourself a favor and just get something else. Just heed my warning and try anything else maybe a different model from this company or a different company all together. whatever but this crap definitely doesn’t work. I tried it Six ways from Sunday and also read the instructions like two and a half times and I still I’m getting zeros. I’m not a lightweight but I don’t feel comfortable driving after 3 beers so we have a problem here. I’m going to be returning this as soon as possible. .

Most people I know buy a breathalyser to ensure they are safe to operate a vehicle – They want to be responsible citizens.BACtrack shows images of Police to help sell the products, however do not disclose up front that these products are not to be used as a tool to determine whether you should operate a motor vehicle or equipment, or perform any other dangerous act.Really BACtrack – why else would you buy one of these.They list this in the Precautions section of the device manual – Sounds like they don’t have much faith in their own product, just saying in my opinion. .

I’ve had this product about two weeks and it’s extremely accurate, but you have to follow the instructions. Wait 15 min after drinking before you test and consistently blow into the device until you hear a click sound. I weigh 200 lbs and after 2 oz (shots) of Vodka it registered .04 and after another 2 shots of Vodka it indicated .08 (DUI), so that’s 4 shots of Vodka within an hour = DUI for someone around 200 lbs and that’s accurate. .
100% accurate! I use this in conjunction with one I have installed on my car and this one is dead on every time. Sounds strange but I’d rather use these and be safe rather than sorry. .

I tried another $30 range unit that had 100s of more positive reviews and it did not work at all False readings when I had nothing to drink for days!! I was skeptical about getting another low price unit since the one for $120 had many positive reviews but I’m not a heavy drinker and could not spend $120 just to know how much a glass or 2 of wine affects me So I gave this one a try.My first test Blow in it a few times while sober and sure enough it registered 0.00%. Then I took it to my jobs Xmas party where normally I drink wine like water since it’s freeeeeee! The instructions state to always take 3 tests and use the average for your final level. After 2 glasses my nose and cheeks started getting numb, but I’m still aware of everything I waited a bit and the first reading was 0.05. The 2 other readings were 0.04x (where the X varied). To me these numbers made sense. I was buzzed and not drunk. I drank 1 more glass throughout the dinner and in the car I took 1 last test (picture). I tried 3x and each time got the same reading of 0.04%. I drank the first 2 glasses before the meal, the 3rd glass I didn’t like the wine therefore did not chug it but drank it slowly with my meal taking small sips. I felt the buzz dying down as it got closer to leaving time, therefore 0.04 seems correct to me.I feel that this breathalyzer is giving me the correct reading of m actual BAC level and gave piece of mind of driving home. If I were at 0.08 (nj legal limit), I would have not driven home. Either taken a ride with someone or waited it out.Every drunk should own one of these and be more responsible as when they should drive, or 1 friend on a group should own one of these to prevent their friends from getting into accidents or hurting others. .
I have a DOL required Interlock ignition device on my vehicle. Sometimes after a hard night of partying I am worried about blowing dirty on this device, because I am not sure if I still have alcohol in my system. #1. I can not start my car. #2. Negative results are recorded and reported to the DOL. Having a restricted drivers license, to know that I can blow 0.00 BAC is priceless to me. I would rather be late to work and wait for clean results, than lose my privilege to drive again. Setup and use is easy. An affordable solution for some peace of mind. This seems to be an excellent breathalyzer, based on my tests. I would highly recommend it!WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The instructions say to wait 20 minutes after drinking before using this to get best results. Who would really do that? No one that is doing any drinking is going to wait 20 minutes to check their BAC. HOWEVER, you do need to prepare properly for this (or any) breathalyzer.Well and thoroughly rinse your mouth out with plain water a couple of times; you need to remove all the alcohol possible from your mouth so it doesn’t register and up the BAC when you blow. A few swallows of ice water is also good after rinsing. This is a good way to keep track of where your BAC is and help keep you out of trouble. I bought this item mostly as a sanity check to see how much fun I have really had. I compared the results with a friend that has a $600 tester. The results were surprisingly accurate. This item requires a 15 second calibration or countdown before it will allow you to take the test. Minor inconvenience though. .

I like the product. The first day I used it, I pressed and held down the button until it went into a countdown and prompted me to blow. A few days later I used it again. This time I pressed/held down the button and it went into app mode searching and then timed out. I tried this over and over and couldn’t get it into blow mode. I was able to speak with a CSR that explained that I just needed to keep holding down the button to get past app mode and into blow mode. I suggested to the CSR that this would be good to add to the manual. I had done a lot of research prior to calling customer service and never came across anything in the manual or any website that explained this. .
Total junk. My wife drank a half a bottle of wine and it registered a zero BAC. I had 2 sips of wine and it registered later .14 BAC. .
This review is for the new C6 keychain breathalyzer model.I’ll admit that I ordered this on a whim. As a fairly social drinker that has avoided breathalyzers to-date, I was basically just curious to see how these work. First of all, it’s hard to overstate how compact this thing is (see photos). And for such a small size, I am seriously impressed at how well the technology functions. It turns on within a matter of seconds and immediately recognizes and links to your phone via Bluetooth and the app (free download in the iOS store – can’t speak to non-Apple phones). I am a pretty big technophile so I’m very familiar with how frustrating Bluetooth can be for some devices but this thing connects to my phone almost effortlessly. Having had this for awhile and taken it for a few test runs with friends, I’ve been primarily using it in the app mode to take advantage of the on-screen features like “time to sober” and comparing your guess against your actual result – but it works just as well in the on-device mode. I will say I had it out with me this past weekend at the bar and everyone was super excited to try it out. I wish I could get Amazon referrals for this thing because I think I honestly sold about three of them just being out and about and showing it off. .
I requested this keychain breathalyzer for my college student daughter to use. Before I handed it off to her, though, I wanted to try it out myself so I could write this review. So one evening I hunkered down at home with a six pack of Sam Adams (my adult beverage of choice) and a backlog of shows to watch on my DVR. The sacrifices we amazon reviewers must make sometimes. ;-)The breathalyzer is impressively tiny, indeed keychain sized. (Though I wouldn’t keep in on my keychain; I’d just stash it in a purse or in my car.) All you have to do is insert the provided AAA battery and you’re good to go. My most helpful piece of advice is to disregard the instructions where it says not to blow overly hard. I took that recommendation to heart and simply exhaled hard into the mouthpiece for the required six seconds. Thus ensued a frustrating 15 minutes of trying to establish a baseline reading and continually getting an error message. Finally I decided just to try blowing very hard, and that’s when the breathalyzer worked for me. The BACtrack device works in two modes: an instant reading you get displayed right on the device, or you can download an app and have your results sent to a smartphone. That seemed overly complicated to me, so I just stuck with the instant readout.My first reading was a BAC of 0.0, as to be expected. After going through all the huffing and puffing of trying to get the device to work, I was ready for my first beer and popped it open. I didn’t quite chug it, but it was gone after 15 minutes. Then came my next beef with the device: The instructions will tell you that in order to get an accurate reading, you need to avoid drinking or eating anything for 20 minutes before administering the test, and you need to do it in an environment where there is not a heavy alcohol presence. That seems to defy common sense as to when you’d actually want to use the breathalyzer in practice, i.e., you’re at a bar or party and want to go home right then and there and want to see if you’re okay to drive. In all fairness, the instruction manual points out that these restrictions are true of ANY breathalyzer test. So I’m not criticizing the BACtrack device, just pointing out that the prohibition on drinking/eating for 20 minutes before testing is not all that practical. Of course, if you don’t follow the instructions closely, your BAC may be inaccurate, but it will be biased in the positive direction, i.e., overestimating how drunk you are.When I used the device immediately after finishing my first beer, I got a BAC reading of .05, which is indeed higher than you’d predict on the basis of one beer for a 135 pound woman. Science requires replication, however, so I soldiered on and continued several rounds of drinking and testing, this time waiting between 10 and 20 minutes between taking a sip and doing the reading. My next few readings over the course of the evening ranged between .06 and .07, which seemed reasonable given the amount I was drinking and allowing for the fact that most of the time I was only waiting 10 minutes or so since my last sip to try a reading. After a long evening of science, I went to bed. When I woke up three hours later to use the bathroom (all that beer!), I tried the breathalyzer again, and my BAC had gone down to .01.In short, the device was easy to use once you got the hang of how hard you need to blow to avoid the error message, and it seemed to track my alcohol levels accurately (bearing in mind that they were probably overestimated somewhat given that I rarely waited 20 full minutes before testing it). I think this is therefore an extremely useful product for anybody who engages in social drinking and wants to drive afterwards. The documentation stresses that the results you obtain with the keychain breathalyzer are not admissible in court, but if your results are even pushing the .08 limit, you have no business driving anyway. I know that I was feeling impaired enough during my little trial that I would not have wanted to be driving even though my BAC never got to .08.I recommend it highly, and it would make a great present for any young adult. .

I bought this a few months ago and have tried using it numerous time along with my friends and it either reads .00 or .01 I have never seen it above that. Even when we had been drinking all night it said it was .00 Not worth the money, use your money and put it towards a more expensive one .
This thing has straight up saved my ass so many times I can’t even tell you. Got pulled over last night, and I was confident I was way under the limit thanks to this little device. So far I and others have used it over 30 times and it seems to give really accurate, consistent readings. A Dui costs around 5,000 and this thing is like 30 Totally worth it! .

I’ve used it and compared it to bar-top models and to other, bulkier models, and it seems just as accurate as long as you don’t abuse it.Lots of other reviews are saying “I used this thing three times and now it keeps returning .00 no matter what, this thing sucks”. That’s what will happen if you don’t want the 15 minutes between drinking and testing. Surprise surprise, if you blow pure alcohol onto the sensors for alcohol, you’ll throw off the calibration a little bit.But follow the instructions, and this thing will do just what it claims to. .

My vehicle is equipped with interlocking ignition devices necessary for DOL. Sometimes, after a hard night party, I worry about getting the equipment dirty, because I am not sure if there is still alcohol in my system. ＃1。 I can’t start my car. ＃2。 Record negative results and report to DOL. I love this breathalyzer. It is compact, easy to use, and for personal use, you can keep re-using the mouth piece. I am very familiar with breathalyzers since I was a breath alcohol technician trainer for many years and have extensive experience with professional breathalyzers and their use in a medical clinic. This device functions just like the one that we used in the clinic, and the readings appear to be correct based upon my theoretical knowledge of relationship between alcohol intake and breath readings. Easily one of the smartest purchases a person can make. Have a beer or two, wait 20 minutes, then wait longer or don’t drive if you blow too high. Colorado is .05 and you get in trouble, much lower than .08 in other states. Glad I learned that! And glad we got one of these, it’s fun to see where you are at, and will more than pay for itself anytime you realize you shouldn’t be going anywhere for a while. This product arrived defective. I was weary to buy this because of the return policy, but a friend had bought the same model and recommended it. Hers worked perfectly. Mine came and wouldn’t even function for a single blow. I tried three different batteries and every time I try to turn it on and use it the screen comes on and beeps for a few seconds max before turning back off. The screen shows a battery icon that is almost empty even with fresh batteries. And now they won’t take it back or refund. Don’t waste your money. .
I received this handy little device today and I tried it out before I had even a sip of any alcohol. It read at .00. After having three drinks, I waited as directed (20 minutes), blew again, and it read a .08. (I’m female, 5’6 and weigh 140). I let my friend who hadn’t drank any alcohol blow into it after I blew the second time, and it read accurately for him (at .00). So far, the product seems pretty accurate and I have no complaints whatsoever. It’s awesome to have an estimate of where I’m at regarding my blood alcohol content for a great price. I’ll be gifting this to my friends as well. .

This is actually my second time buying the exact model. The first one was AMAZING, had NO ISSUES. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to see what is the BAC reading. If you’re like me, you are looking at purchasing this as a fun thing to do at a party, “let’s see who’s the drunkest!!” It’s a conversation piece that is gets people interested in seeing what their blood alcohol concentration, BAC. It’s also nice to have to check before driving. You get the breathalyzer, carry case, lanyard and 5 mouthpieces. The breathalyzer uses 3 AAA batteries which are not included. When you power on the device, you have to wait 20 seconds before you can blow into the mouthpiece. When you blow into the mouthpiece there will be a continuous beep until 5-6 seconds. You should keep blowing until the beeping stops. Then your results will be displayed. The unit keeps a memory of the last 32 readings. The manual recommends waiting 3 minutes before the next reading and waiting 20min since your last drink. I tested the device a few times without any drinking to see if it would registered anything and the results were all 0.0%. I also tested after drinking 1, 2 and 3 drinks and after each one the results were higher than before. I’ve never reach a point of being over 0.08%, which would be legally impaired in the US. It also depends on weight. There are scales online to check how many drinks it would take to go above 0.08%. I can’t compare this unit with one that a law enforcement would use so don’t depend on this for drinking and driving. There is always room for error and the risks are too big; for example if you register a 0.075% but you’re really 0.082%. Be safe and walk if you’re unsure. Overall I’m really happy with the unit for my fun and games. .
I’ve always wanted a breathalyzer to have a better idea of how alcohol affects my BAC and how different levels of intoxication feel compared to the BAC. I bike or ride share when heading out to drink, but it’s nice to be able to know what my BAC is after having a couple of beers. .
This little guy is really cute! It’s fun to test your blood alcohol content. However, I wouldn’t use it for 100% accuracy just because of the nature of a handheld device needs calibrated every so often. But it works great just to know if someone has been drinking or not! .
I just got this today and don’t have any alcohol so can’t tell for sure how accurate it is but I did try it out and it did show 0.00 when I blew in it without drinking. It is easy to use. All you have to do is push the power button for 3 seconds then a 20 second timer starts once the time hits 0 you blow into it. It will beep while you are blowing you stop blowing after it stops bleeping. Very easy to use. Can’t wait to try it after drinking😋🍻 .

I have used this a dozen times or so now after being out for drinks. If anything more for the novelty and having friends try it out. You need to definitely understand the manual instructions that you should WAIT the 15+ mins after LAST drink (or eat) to expect an accurate test given the alcohol vapor still in your mouth. Taking tests in between drinks or even sips will throw wild varying results which friends will simply discount it as an unreliable toy. But they get a good laugh at it’s post-test responses and sober clock!The reason I give this 4 stars is because I just don’t quite trust it yet. Back at the car before I turn the ignition I’ll do 2 or 3 tests – and they are always a very consistent BAC % so there is that! But the results always seem considerably low for the amount of beer pints I have drank over a set time after these dozen uses. Guess it will just take more time to fully trust.Part of that lost star is also the app/BT connection – it is VERY SLOOOW to establish connection so you have to have patience if you want to save your results (for whatever reason). Too bad you can’t just have it give you your readout after test on the screen WHILE also (slowly) uploading those results to your phone when connected. .
Ordered one after my older model of bactrack breatalyzer stopped working. Bought this one and tested it out. It registers all over the board. In following the proper procedure of waiting a min of 20min to test without eating or drinking it gave results difference of +-.04 with different breaths. That is completely unacceptable. If you think about the legal limit being.08 and half that level showing inaccurate results. I ended up returning and ordering a replacement for a defective product. Well, let me tell you the replacement was more inaccurate in the results. This time I was able to use an actual police PBT from a buddy. The results of this bactrack was a difference of around .06. I immediately returned this item. I could never recommend this item. I am willing to try other models from the bactrack company but this one is a bust. .
I used to have the older larger one and I decided to upgrade to the police-grade accuracy. I also like that it is very small, so I can fit it in my purse. My husband also brings it with him when he golfs. He keeps it in his pocket or golf bag and uses it to make sure he can legally drive home after having a couple beers with his buddies. The other feature that is a big upgrade from the last one is that is shows you the reading instantly on the side of the device and the reading is much quicker. I used to have to go through my app on my phone, when now it shows it on the actual breathalyzer. I love this device and I definitely recommend it to any one who consumes alcohol. .
I actually bought this to have a second unit since I liked my C6 so much. The only real difference is that this one has a bigger screen, and shows you your estimated time to sober on the unit itself without having to pull up the companion cell phone app (which I also LOVE, and which works with both units). For the price and size difference, I’m not sure that I really care. And the C8 is a little less quick to use for it – you have to manually turn it off after the test, or it’ll be ~40 seconds of telling you stuff on the screen before it shuts off on its own. Not a huge deal, but again, for how much cheaper the C6 is, I kind of prefer that option.But all in all, if you do want that estimate, the C8 is a great option.I rated the accuracy only 4 stars because my unit seems to read a fair bit high compared to the C6 on the exact same breath, and given the circumstances I tend to trust the C6 more. I’m not sure if that’s the unit itself, or my C6 being in need of calibration. On the plus side, measuring high is the better kind of inaccuracy to have in this case, so that’s good. .

Like any breathalyzer, for most accurate results, you need to wait 15-20 minutes after your last drink (some people complain about having to wait to test, but that’s how our body works).  This is a cool little product! It’s easy to use, no set up required. Just put in battery, press and hold power to turn on, then blow when it’s done warming up. The manual does say to test 3 times within a few minutes for best accuracy purposes. Tried this when not drinking and at first it said 0.010 but then said 0.000 the next 2 times. So definitely don’t always take the first one as the final result. .
I received this handy little device today and I tried it out before I had even a sip of any alcohol. It read at .00. After having three drinks, I waited as directed (20 minutes), blew again, and it read a .08. (I’m female, 5’6 and weigh 140). I let my friend who hadn’t drank any alcohol blow into it after I blew the second time, and it read accurately for him (at .00). So far, the product seems pretty accurate and I have no complaints whatsoever. It’s awesome to have an estimate of where I’m at regarding my blood alcohol content for a great price. I’ve had the product for a little more over than a week now and I can say it’s fairly accurate. At first, the readings were way off but that it’s because it was being used consistently without letting the machine rest and not changing the mouthpieces. When you use the product, you must make sure you have not drank or smoked within the last 10 minutes and use a new mouthpiece for the most accurate reading. If you follow the steps above the breathalyzer will work appropriately. Also, the mouthpieces can be washed and used again so buying new mouthpieces is not required. .
This breathalyzer seemed to be very accurate. It was repeatable to the same reading when alternating between people using it. I would say it is one of the best bangs for your buck in breathalyzers. .
Amazed at the quality. Glad I got this instead of the BACtrak. Pretty accurate device, have done about 20 tests and they all seem reasonably accurate. My only suggestion is when you turn it on. let it cycle through one time by itself. .

I am so glad I bought this breathalyser. Why? I shall explain When buying a breathalyser, it really only has one job: accuracy. Any inaccurate breathalyser no doubt does more harm than good. I needed a breathalyser. A combination of my industry having many alcohol-infused social outings combined with the fact that any driving offence would render my career over. I just simply could never drink-drive, ever. So, the breathalyser sat in my glove box, and if I was ever over (or close to), there was no driving for me.Now, the accuracy, It just so happens in my industry (in my role) we were in charge of breathalysing participants on a regular basis. Due to the high-risk nature, we had to ensure all participants were 0.0. We used an incredibly expensive breathalyser worth around $1500 (police standard) that had to get recalibrated every six months.So, I used to have a few drinks, try our professional breathalyser, and then try my BacTrack. The results? Pretty well much identical. Typically, when one would read .031, the other would read .032 (if not exactly the same number). They would be very, very close. That gave me the confidence that the Bactrack is that accurate. .
Works well: I had two drinks and tested my BAC and it showed up as .018 which seems low but it always shows me at 0 when I’m sober so I think it’s calibrated well. I’ve never used any other breathalyzer so I have nothing to compare this to, but I think it works well from initial impressions. It is fully plastic on the outside. I wish the user guide it came with would fit into the carrying bag with the breathalyzer. Other than that it’s a lovely product and I’m glad I got it. .
There are some things to be aware of with this breathalyzer and other non-$1000+ professional breathalyzers. They don’t work well if you blow a lot of spit into it, or if you blow right after drinking alcohol. It’s just as good as the $100 breathalyzers but not the $1000+.On other more expensive brands, they show error if you blow right after drinking or if the sensors are wet. This will return 0.00 and 0.19. Remember that and just blow again after a few minutes. It’s not as intuitive, but the wait time is the same. For the money, this thing works and is accurate.When it works, it shows consistent measurements, with a variance of only +-0.01.After drinking 2 12 fl oz beers and waiting 30 minutes, I consistently blew ~0.02. My Backtrak said exactly the same! .
I now own a couple breathalyzers. My wife and friends have had fun periodically testing each other while we entertain at our home. This tester is seemingly accurate too. The measuring goes down 3 decimal places unlike other testers i have used. It comes with several replacement blow nozzles that click onto the unit and act as the blow straw. The material does not feel cheap and it comes with a nice carrying bag. All in all, this is a fun party tool to use while entertaining in a safe setting! .

This puts a hard stop to people saying they can drive home after they’ve been drinking at my house. It’s been pretty interesting to see how different people are affected by alcohol as it pertains to their blood alcohol level. I have no way of knowing if it’s accurate or not other than it seems legit. I do believe you need to change the plastic price each time or else it holds some residue and gives a higher reading. What a lifesaver! And career saver!I like this handy little device. It works fast and accurately. Easy to use and understand. It’s well made and I understand the manufacturer makes these sensors for actual law enforcement. If it’s good enough for the police, it’s good enough for me!It is small enough to carry in a purse or glovebox. (In a handy case) Not a toy. When the time comes you want real information, not some party trick. Unless you do an actual blood test, this is as good as it gets in the moment. It takes just a second to test you or maybe a friend to determine who should drive.It’s not worth it to be irresponsible, drive impaired and perhaps start a chain of events that you would most certainly regret later. .
Product is very easy to use–comes in a little zippered hard case that would be easy to keep in your glove compartment, purse or pocket. Can’t speak to its accuracy, as I haven’t compared it to a police unit or a blood draw, but its results seem concordant with my expectations. I purchased two different fuel cell based BAC devices. This one for $79.99 and another for $129.99. This one is touted as being very accurate and so is the other one. When I use them side by side, this one is consistently about .01 lower than the other. Of course there’s no way to know for sure which one is right, or if they’re both wrong. But the other one has a bunch of US based certifications so I suspect it’s closer to correct. I don’t make a habit of pushing my limit so it may not matter but an interesting side by side comparison none the less.Ease of use is great. No way to know if there’s any value to it, without knowing if it’s accurate. .

This breathalyzer is impressive for the price and size. It’s nice and tiny and fits into a purse or large pocket easily. It has a carrying case and a few mouth pieces so it can be used by more than one person hygienically. I’ve tested it under different circumstances, and the accuracy has been spot on when compared to the level if I were manually calculating the blood alcohol content. It is easy to use as well. .
After not drinking for two days, I was blowing a .027 or something like that. So i had my wife who also wasn’t drinking blow. Same thing. Not exact same, but if it’s showing something when there should be nothing. I question it’s accuracy. If you do drink, it will show higher so it does work to an extent though. .

Living in Cali is not like living in NYC, you literally have to drive to everywhere. So far, so good. I’m getting consistent readings. I’ve used it a few times now to make sure I’m within the legal limit before driving. Excellent tool in addition to watching my 1 drink per hour rule. Even when I went over that, I knew to wait and for how long.I bought this to evaluate alcohol levels before driving, and was very surprised for the price how accurate it reads. Many of my friends have tried it and it is consistently on target. It’s lightweight and the mouthpieces are cleanable and reuseable. One side note is that if you are using this because you have an interlock system, this piece does not make you hum and blow, only blow, so be ready for that interlock hum and blow which is very different. .
One of the best purchases i’ve ever made. Bought a few lower end models in the past and wasn’t very happy. After ordering this tester I realized what I was missing. Not only does this tester measure to the thousandths place, it also has features to ensure the most accurate measurement possible. If you don’t make a seal around the mouthpiece, it lets you know. If you don’t blow evenly enough, it lets you know. This is comes in a nice case that travels well. .

I followed the directions carefully but after two different types of alcohol consumption I was unable to get a reading other than 0.00 after 4 separate attempts. Based on that I started the amazon return procedure. But the next day I called the manufacturer and they gave a tip that finally resulted in getting a reading. The trick is that you have to blow steady for five seconds–you cant tail off at the end. My problem was that I was blowing too hard (I think I got that idea from TV or something), and that after about 3-4 seconds I didn’t have enough left. So, you don’t have to blow hard, just steady, for all 5 seconds.If this unit really does require calibration every 6 mos., then its probably not worth the price: one calibration is $25. Perhaps look for another brand where at least you can replace the sensor yourselfI’m not sure how accurate it is, even so. I feel that its under-reporting the amount of alcohol. If it is indeed accurate, then I can understand why so many of the top countries are moving to .02 as the legal limit for driving. .
This is a good breathalyzer to reassure your feeling to see if it is safe for you to drive or not. This will give you a second opinion before you get behind the wheel. Also good if your teenager says they have not been drinking but you smell something you can use this. I tested this per the instructions and I also tested it along side with a commercial breathalyzer. It really does show .000 when you have not had anything to drink. It constantly showed within a few numbers of my other breathalyzer. So I consider it accurate for general use. I did notice several times where I got a flow error, this happens if you change the air flow when blowing into the unit so if someone has had too much, it may be hard to get a reading as they will not follow instructions easy.This unit comes with a zipper carry case, instructions and 6 mouth pieces. You can reuse the mouth pieces as they can be washed. It uses two AAA batteries that it comes with so you have everything you need in the package to start testingremember that you may be going up and by the time you get down the road you can be over the legal limit even if you passed before you started driving.This unit will give you a good estimate of where you are when you use it. .
I was surprised to see how accurate the device actually was. I’ve owned a few other breathalyzers that were extremely off, some that would show 0.000 no matter what.Alongside some friends who are police officers, we tested the accuracy next to a police issue field breathalyzer. I’m happy to say that the highest variance between the 2 devices was 0.0002 which only occurred once. I believe this variance could be prevented if we were to wait a full 15 minutes before testing.Although I’d never suggest anyone to drive after a night out, these are always good to have to make sure you’re good to drive. However, should not be relied on as you can still get a DUI at the officers discretion. I suggest you don’t drive after a night out, but if you must, this is a good device to have. .
I purchased this as a test offer from BACTRACK because I own the model that connects to the phone and it’s out of calibration – so much that my 10 year old was blowing a .03.The unit arrived on time and in great condition thanks to PRIME shipping. Upon opening the package I found the breathalyzer, a storage pouch with 6 mouthpieces, and two AAA batteries. I chose to use my own Duracell batteries because of the cheap quality of the provided batteries. The instructions included are basically a disclaimer that this device shouldn’t be used to determine if you should drive or not and a bunch of legal stuff. You really don’t need the instructions to operate the device.I found this device to be very simple to use and extremely accurate. Many people comment that they see FLO appear across the screen frequently. Through many tests we have found that this occurs when a person changes their exhalation pressure through the mouthpiece. With a constant pressure, it works fine, and we have had no issues.One thing I really like about the unit is how FAST it calculates BAC. My other unit seems like it takes forever (30 seconds +). This unit calculates in about 10 seconds max. Fantastic!This is a great unit in my opinion, especially for the price. DO NOT BUY STOPPED WORKING AFTER 4 USESPurchased this to help me better understand how drinking affects my BAC as well as what the true feeling of being over the limit is. Well everything was great, the first 4 times I used it. I started getting a true grasp on how little alcohol it takes to get over the limit of .08 .well i go to try it again and sure enough after 4 beers and 2 shots in a couple hour time span I blow a 0.00. Impossible! I waited an hour, had another drink and tried to test again and sure enough still 0.00. This thing is complete junk! .
I bought this because I unfortunately got in some trouble for drinking too much and driving. Have an interlock system in my car and I use this to check where I am before I try on the “official” version. It works great and is very accurate at first, but after awhile the readings go off. They’re basically good for a few months before they screw up. I don’t want to send it away to get “calibrated” since it’s a fairly cheap device. It’s actually proved invaluable to me at its best, but a pain in the butt at its worst. It told me today that I had a .15 for one beer that I finished half an hour ago, but my car started just fine. .

I bought this in hopes of monitoring my ketones levels. Several Keto coaches indicated that cheap breathalyzers give enough false positives to keep track of levels of acetone in breath. They specifically said that only cheap breathalyzers have this effect due to the technology they use. I should have known that for those swanky youtubers cheap means nothing over $1,000 😀This device is apparently too cheap: on the first use after several clearing runs as recommended by the manual, it screamed DANGER! and claimed I have 0.16 BAC. The 5 subsequent uses (over 3 minutes apart, as instructed) yielded 0 BAC. Out of curiosity, I poured myself a double shot of Martell (80 proof cognac). Five minutes later, 0 BAC; Ten minutes, 0 BAC; Fifteen minutes, 1.6 BAC and DANGER again. Twenty minutes: 0 BAC.Without being a legal expert, I can tell you that if you use this device to check if you’re fit to drive, you’re looking at an almost certain DUI. .

I’ve been using this device for over a year now to check whether or not I’m in ketosis. If you’re sober and blow a BAC reading over .02, you’re in ketosis! I have been keto for over 2 years and I usually blow a .05 on a typical day. Much cheaper than the overpriced ketone meters and great little tool for data. .
It can be confusing to use so make sure to read the directions. You have to wait a few minutes between blows so if you think it’s off you can’t immediately redo it. The reading was also off from what we could tell. It’s small and portable but you may want to invest in something more reliable if you plan on using it for something other than drinking games as we had. .

I purchased this breathalyzer because it uses the same technology that law enforcement breathalyzers use; it seems to be extremely accurate. I’ve used it for quite some time now, (I carry it in my vehicle), and it continues to work very well. Under the influence, it’s difficult to know where your blood alcohol is and it can lead to a poor decision as to whether or not you should even think about driving. There have been times where I “felt fine” enough to drive; however, I was over the limit and I didn’t drive. I am so happy I bought this machine. Why? Let me explain. When buying a breathalyser, it really only has one job: accuracy. Any inaccurate breathalyser no doubt does more harm than good. I needed a breathalyser. A combination of my industry having many alcohol-infused social outings combined with the fact that any driving offence would render my career over. I just simply could never drink-drive, ever. So, the breathalyser sat in my glove box, and if I was ever over (or close to), there was no driving for me.The accuracy, It just so happens in my industry we were in charge of breathalysing participants on a regular basis. Due to the high-risk nature, we had to ensure all participants were 0.0. We used an incredibly expensive one, that had to get re calibrated every six months.So, I used to have a few drinks, try our professional breathalyser, and then try my BacTrack. The results? Pretty well much identical.Typically, when one would read .031, the other would read .032 (if not exactly the same number). They would be very close. That gave me the confidence that this one is that accurate. .
Bought this more as a toy than any real need for a breathalyzer. Meets my needs as a party gag with the first pic taken with with no alcohol consumed and the second after several glasses of wine. I think the .19 was a bit higher than reality but may not have waited one enough from the last drink to the test. Either way the unit definitely detects alcohol and suits my needs as a party gag. If you are trying to have friends use it, to show them over the limit and prevent drunk driving it is a great option, especially since it seemed to register a bit high. If you are looking for something to give you an accurate reading to see if you are OK to drive, I would recommend Uber/Lyft/Taxi If in doubt, don’t take chances! .

This is a nifty little gadget! I never expected to need a breathalyzer meter but it’s actually quite useful and, okay I’ll say it, fun to check yours and your friends’ blood alcohol level. But there’s nothing fun about OWI tickets or worse, accidents. This is super easy to use. You attach a plastic mouth piece to the front of the unit (you get ten plastic mouth pieces) and wait for the unit to count down until it says “blo” and you blow into the machine to get a very accurate measurement. Obviously, if you’re too impaired to drive, use an Uber or a designated driver! Don’t drive impaired! .
This is a great purchase and a very entertaining party gadget. Very accurate and doesn’t take more than a minute to give 3 different readings (BAC, ma/L, and a/L). I would definitely recommend for determining safe driving strategies for self and others. I also love the size and design. .
Not even close to accurate. I’m a non drinker and I drank a half shot to test . At 5 min read 2.0 another 5 min .5 then 5 min .3 then went to 0.00 and stayed. Save your time and money. This is a toy at best. They refunded ok but .

This product did not work at all. When I would try it, the readings would be all over the place. I tested it with someone who had drank 4 beers and they blew a 0.02 then when I let it clear and changed the mouth piece I blew a 0.13 and I had no alcohol in me what so whatever. This happened again multiple times on multiple different days. Finally ended up just throwing the thing away. Don’t waste your money. .
Very inaccurate. Drank vodka and beer. Got drunk enough to talk about cheese with a stranger. Blew 0.05 .be real .
Got this for my brother in law for Christmas. He got a DWI in the past, so he now keeps it on his key ring any time he has a night out and gets a ride home when he has had too much. Overall very useful and cost effective. .

This is a great pocket breathalyzer from BACtrack. I’ve used other breathalyzers in the past that would provide unreliable and inconsistent readings on multiple tests but this one is reading pretty consistently. In addition, the warm-up time from power-on to reading is QUICK (under 10 seconds). Haven’t had a chance to see how long these batteries will last but it uses two standard AAA’s so when they eventually
