If you accidentally deleted a WhatsApp conversation or deleted WhatsApp messenger, you can restore it easily. Thanks to an automatic backup service that makes a backup every day at 4 am. This backup is stored in the WhatsApp folder on your SD card. Follow these simple steps to restore it.
- Uninstall WhatsApp messenger.
- Reinstall WhatsApp.
- You will now be prompted to reinstall your WhatsApp chat. Click OK and your conversation will be restored.

I brought the new Android and moved the conversation to WhatsApp.
If you decide to switch to another device and want to get your old WhatsApp chats back, follow these simple steps. You will lose all messages you have sent and received since the backup was created, so please update your backup first.
- Make a backup by going to Whatsapp Settings Chat Settings Conversation Backup.
- Copy WhatsApp folder from old to New Android and install WhatsApp.
- During After installation, WhatsApp will detect the backup folder and ask you if you want to restore the chat.
- Click OK and your WhatsApp chat will be restored.
What I really love about Android is that there are many cool apps available that will make your job look like it. One such application that I use is called Backup Text for WhatsApp. This allows me to make a selective backup based on time and contacts and export it to your mail or SD card as plain text, HTML or CSV. However, this can also be used to hack a WhatsApp conversation, as it can be used to read a WhatsApp conversation even if which application is blocked.

Since WhatsApp does not perform automatic backups on iPhone as it did on Android, you will have to create backups manually.
You won’t be able to restore a WhatsApp conversation if you haven’t already set up automatic iCloud recovery. However, you can try iPhone Data Recovery if you want to restore WhatsApp conversation for this purpose.
To manually make a backup, go to WhatsApp Settings Chat Settings Chat Backup Back Up. Here you can also enable the automatic backup feature for more frequent backups.

Whatsapp periodically backs up to Windows Phone, similar to what we see on Android. If you’ve accidentally deleted your chats, reinstalling WhatsApp may bring them back. But all conversations sent and received between the time interval when the backup was made until the moment you accidentally deleted the chats will not be restored.
To check the last backup time:
- On the chats screen, click on the three dots in the lower right corner.
- Click on Settings.
- You can see the time of the last backup in [backup] (do not click [backup], otherwise a new backup will be created).
