Access Region Locked Games on iOS.
There are millions of iOS users around the world, and mobile games have never been this big. Developers continue to realize the huge potential of iOS apps, with new games being added to the App Store almost constantly.
However, from time to time, you may find that the name you were particularly interested in is not yet available in your area.
Developers often put their games through a “soft launch” where they release an application in small countries where they can get a feel for how well received the game is and fix any issues before a global release.
Countries such as Canada, the Philippines, and New Zealand often receive popular titles before the rest of the world because they have a smaller population that mostly speaks English.
If you’re anxious to get your hands on the latest version of the game, but can’t find it in the app store, don’t worry, as it’s a relatively easy process to access regionally linked games on iOS.
Create a new Apple ID
First, you need to run iTunes on your Mac or PC. After opening the program, go to the “Store” tab.
–
Scroll down the shop windows and click on your country flag in the lower right corner.
The next page lists all the available iTunes countries, so just select the region where the game you want is currently available.
If you’re looking for a region with a lot of software launches in general, we recommend picking Canada, the Philippines, or New Zealand for good luck with future releases.
After selecting your country, create a new Apple ID. Just use any email address that is not already associated with an App Store account to create a new profile. You can access this menu by choosing Account Sign Out Sign In Create New Apple ID.
Follow the instructions to create a new Apple ID and make sure you select No when asked for a payment type.
At this point, Apple will ask you for personal information to link to your account. This part can be a little tricky, as you will need to provide realistic details for the country your Apple ID is associated with. The best way to do this is to find a zip code in the area and use a random address in the area.
Since there is no billing information associated with the account, the process for creating an Apple ID is usually not overly demanding as long as the information appears to be reliable.
After creating a new Apple ID, you can sign in to iTunes as usual, and you will be automatically redirected to the appropriate country app store.
Download closed zone games
Once you’ve finished the process of creating an Apple ID on your computer, it’s time to go back to your iPhone or iPad. Tap Settings iTunes & App Store Sign Out.
Then you simply sign in with your new Apple ID! When you enter the App Store with this new account, you will be able to find and download games that you were previously blocked from.
Once you’ve downloaded the games, you can even sign in again with your regular Apple ID to continue using your phone as usual.
Defects
The above process works well for free games, but can get quite tricky if you want to purchase or shop within paid apps. Since you don’t actually live in the country of your new Apple ID, you won’t be able to shop using your regular payment methods.
One way to get around this is to buy iTunes Gift Cards in the country your Apple ID is associated with, but this is a bit of a convoluted process that comes with risks as you’ll have to buy through third-party retailers.
Ultimately, this process is a great way to get to know the latest games before they arrive in your country. Just remember that making App Store payments in another country is easier said than done. Enjoy!
