After installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 and restarting their computer, some people receive the following error:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
Some of the technical codes that accompany the error: OX0000007E (0XC00007D, 0XF7C6B8EA, 0XF7C6B7F4 – 0XF7CBBYF0). While booting into Safe Mode, I noticed that the boot process stops when the MUP.SYS driver is loaded.
The first thing to try is to boot from the Windows XP installation CD and go to the recovery console (by pressing R), and then run the chkdsk / r check. If he finds any errors, he will try to fix them. After scanning, restart your computer and hope for the best.
If the above doesn’t work, you need to try to copy the MUP.SYS file from a good working system and then paste it into the C: windows system32 drivers folder.

If the above solution does not work, restart your computer and boot from the Windows XP installation CD as shown above.
Windows XP Installation Repair
When you see the manufacturer’s logo, you need to press F12, F2 or F8 to get to the boot options menu. Then you choose your CD-ROM drive instead of your regular hard drive. This should lead you to install Windows XP as shown above.
When all the files have downloaded, you should follow the steps to install Windows. This means you press Enter instead of R.
Follow the steps until you get to the point where you need to agree to the terms and conditions and you see a screen asking where to install Windows. It’s like a table listing all of your hard drives (most people have C and this is the only one). Highlight it and press the appropriate key to install Windows. When the installation starts, Windows detects that a copy of Windows is already installed on your drive / partition [c].
It will ask you if the installation is damaged and may try to repair the Windows XP installation. Go ahead and press the R key to restore it. The restore installation will take some time to complete and you will need to answer some questions during installation.
All your data should be intact after installation for repair. Hopefully after restarting Windows will boot without blue screen errors. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to comment. Enjoy!
