8 Recently Released iOS Apps Worth Checking Out.
What apps have stood out the most on the iOS app store over the past year? There is no doubt that your phone is full of games and tools that have helped you get through the year. You can even delete dozens after seeing how glitchy or ineffective they are.
Either way, you probably missed one (or more) apps worth trying. Here’s a quick rundown of the best iOS apps released over the past year.
Associated Publisher
Sometimes you need to create a quality magazine page, book cover, or blog post using your smartphone or tablet. When this itch appears, you can expect Affinity Publisher to fix it.
This application was developed by Serif Labs and is considered an advanced professional publishing software. It lets you combine images, text, and graphics to design great layouts suitable for a publish button.
In years past, this level of quality could only be obtained from desktop software. Not anymore – and it can still be yours for $ 49.99.
Flow
Not only did this app make the list, but it won the 2019 Design Award. This is another app designed for creatives who love to draw. It comes with digital graphite pencils as well as chisel markers so you can draw and sketch whatever comes to mind.

What sets it apart from other similar apps is that it looks as good as what you create in real life.
This app is free to use but includes in-app purchases. Plus, it can be used on your iPhone or iPad
Sky: Children of the Light
Here’s a fun game made by the studio in charge of Journey (which won Game of the Year in 2013). Apple’s marketplace is awash with free games, but this one ranks # 1 due to its gorgeous art design.
So if you missed downloading this app, you can do it today for free.
Specter Camera
Selfies, vacation shots, and gourmet photos will always be popular. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that larger and better apps will appear that will make your photos look amazing.
Specter was created by the same minds as Halide (another popular camera app you might be familiar with). Using this tool, you can take long exposure photos using only your iPhone or iPad.
Want to shoot photos in motion? No problems. You can capture shots of waterfalls in action and infamous street traffic where the lights are blurry.
Unfortunately, this app is not free. However, it’s inexpensive – just $ 2.99 and it’s yours.
Sayonara Wild Hearts
This might not be obvious to you, especially if you are not an Apple Arcade subscriber. It was launched recently this fall and definitely deserves a spot on this list.
You will find this game appealing if you like to jump through mesmerizing scenes and enjoy electro-pop at the same time. You can choose between different vehicles such as skateboards and motorcycles.
What makes this game different from driving is that you can swing your sword on the go. You can join in the fun by paying $ 4.99 a month (you’ll also get access to a lot of other in-app games).
Explorers
If you are a National Geographic lover, then you will love The Explorers. This app works with your iPhone and iPad, but to get the most out of it, you have to display it on a large HDTV (using the TV app).
In this application, you will find many fun visual effects created by some of the best photographers and videographers in the world. You will be able to see nature and wildlife in person.
Best of all, it is free to download (with in-app purchases).
Hyper Light Drifter
Another game is included in the list – this time for those who like to chop and chop. In addition to cutting your way through enemies, you will enjoy great graphics and sound throughout your journey.
It is made in pixel art style, but the workmanship is a masterpiece. According to the CEO, you’re better off playing this 2D game on your iPad Pro. It works well with touchscreens as well as controllers.
If you like 16-bit adventure games then this should be your next download. You can get it for just under $ 5.
Gris
There is a game for everyone – at least it seems that way when you own an iOS device. There is something different here from slashers and racing games that you will find on the market.
Gris is a story-driven game that takes you into the rich life of a girl. Gris is a young girl who struggles with pain and grief. While you don’t need to worry about danger and death, you can play around with cool powers and abilities.
The artwork is amazing and the animation is detailed. You will walk through the game solving puzzles (nothing too hard), platform sequences, and other challenges that require you to use your skills.
You can get this app for your iPhone or iPad for $ 1.99.
Which iOS apps did you miss?
Have you tried any or all of the apps on this list? If not, you may find one or two worth downloading. It’s interesting to see which apps perform best each year, as the list of the most popular apps usually doesn’t change over time. If you look at shorter time frames like last year, you usually end up with a more varied list like the one above. Enjoy!
