8 best reminder apps for Windows 10.
Many of us spend all day on the computer. I know. In a scenario like this, it makes sense to have some kind of reminder app for my Windows desktop. After all, why should I endure reminders on my smartphone when I’m not even working? I also need a little time, and constant mobile reminders can be scary. Maybe leave reminders on your computer?
Reminder apps for Windows
With that in mind, I started looking for reminder apps and found some awesome ones. So, here are some of the best Windows reminder apps for different types of users with different types of needs.
Cortana is Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s Google Assistant and Siri. Although Cortana is late for the stage, she is already making a splash. While you can use the virtual assistant for many complex tasks, you can also use it to set simple reminders.
Just launch Cortana on your Windows 10 PC or smartphones (previews are not supported) and ask her to remind me to call my dad on Friday 7:00 pm or to remind me to pick up my laundry in an hour.
If you are using a Windows 10 PC, simply press CTRL + C or use the microphone on your Windows smartphone. You can also set location-based reminders so that Cortana only reminds you to pick up your laundry when you’re nearby.
You can set custom reminders so that the next time you talk to your boss, Cortana will remind you to send this file.
You can easily manage all your reminders and make changes as needed. Cortana is free and available for Windows 10 users only.

2. Medication tray – medication reminder
A first aid kit can be found in every home. Pills have become a part of our life and many people cannot live without daily medication. This is not a major problem if you remember to take them on time. But we’re a forgetful race, aren’t we?
Pillbox is a medication reminder app for Windows to help you remember in time when you are taking pills. Enter the name and dosage of the tablet, and the time and days of the week on which you should take it. Pillbox will now notify you when your pills are due. Trust me, it can literally save your life.
All data will be synced to your Microsoft OneDrive account. There is a calendar mode where you can see your frequency and all the days you missed a medication. Your document and your mom will not be happy about this.

RemindMe for Windows is a free app that was built from the ground up for the Windows 10 platform. The developer focused on usability and functionality, not bells and whistles. A simple and fast app that will allow you to instantly set reminders with a live tile shortcut. Good for people who just need to get things done and who don’t want to get bogged down in a large number of options.
When you set the relative timer, you will see the countdown timer ticking. You can also set absolute reminders (date and time). In keeping with the Windows 10 user interface, it has a live tile format. You can sync these reminders with Windows 8 devices if you have them!

4. Desktop reminders
Where RemindMe was a simple little application focused on one thing, Desktop Reminder has many features. There are many ways to customize the app, such as skins, sounds, profiles, and alarms.
You can use Desktop Reminder to set up reminders for tasks as well as events. There is a built-in calendar in which I could see all the tasks that were postponed for a given date. But what makes it useful is the ability to remind you weeks or months in advance of an important task, depending on the level of urgency you set.
For example, as a blogger, I might set an urgent reminder for a tech event next month, or write this explanation next month before a product launch. You should have enough time to prepare for the task. You can also import iCalendar files.
While the free version is good enough, there is also a professional version available for $ 29, which will add the ability to link to documents and files, group multiple tasks such as assignments, support for print tasks, executable actions. The latter will allow you to open a specific document at a specific time.

Never judge a program by its name! While the name suggests it has something to do with shutting down your PC, the truth is, it is much more. Windows Shutdown Assistant was developed by Apowersoft, a popular application and software manufacturer.
You can create reminders with alerts, but at the same time, you can also create notes. Think of it as a cross between a reminder and a note-taking app. You can open a specific file or document at a specific time so you know when you need to finish the report.
In addition, you can use WSA to start and stop Windows programs on a schedule. This means you can go to sleep before bed, lock your computer for lunch, or log out at the end of the day. It also works with other programs, so its functionality is only limited by your imagination. There is support for hyperlinks, so you can open the Sony website to watch Argentina play FIFA.
Windows Shutdown Assistant is compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10 and is completely free to download and use. Think of it as a notes, reminder and planner app.

6. 2 days
2Day is not just a to-do and reminder app, but a complete personal organizer. It is available on both Windows computer and mobile phones. Taking a hint from the interface of some popular task management apps, 2Day will show a list of tasks and reminders for the current day, followed by what’s happening for the week and month.
For example, I could create different lists of reminders and tasks like shopping, hobbies, work, home, etc. If you are a fan of Tim Ferris, you will love this app and its approach. He supports Cortana, which is great. 2Day works with Windows 7, 8 and 10.
You can also add a task or reminder without dates, which will appear at the end of the list, along with any reminders that have been completed. 2Day not only syncs with Windows phones, but Office365, Outlook, and ToodleDoo as well, but it’ll cost you a one-time $ 3.99 upgrade fee, which isn’t bad.

7. Kana reminder
Compared to 2Day, which is a reminder and task management app, Kana Reminder is an easy-to-use app that helps you set simple reminders. Set a reminder and you will be notified when a task needs to be completed.
Like Windows Shutdown Assistant, Kana Reminder also comes with a built-in scheduler that you can use to tell your computer when you go to sleep, shut down, and start certain programs. I installed Winamp on it so I could listen to the FIFA World Cup song, which wasn’t very good anyway.
In terms of security, I was able to protect my reminders with passwords, which is great because I have the nasty habit of writing sensitive information on Sticky Notes! Kana Reminder has a simple interface with multiple hotkeys for reminders and alarms.

8. Remember the milk
Let’s take a look at some advanced reminder apps that are cross-platform and offer more than just a way to add reminders for simple things. Remember the Milk is a popular app that you can download and install on Windows, Android, iOS, Mac and Linux platforms. Not only that, but browser add-ons and extensions are also available.
You can add tasks to Windows that will sync with all your other devices. These tasks can then be divided into sub-tasks. The latter function is more suitable if you want to manage different projects and need to keep reminders for each task separately and for each project.
I could add tags to each reminder, which allowed me to search for them very quickly. RTM integrates with several third-party apps like Twitter, Gmail, and Slack, so you can get notifications and timely reminders no matter which tool you use. I quickly pulled a few files from my Dropbox account to add to my reminder.
Remember the Milk is an advanced reminders and tasks app that is suitable for power users looking for a management and organization solution. The free version is good enough, but for $ 39.99 a year, you can really feel the full potential of the app.

Rainlender is a calendar app that takes a different approach. You can create a reminder for anything you need to be reminded of and it will appear neatly on your desktop in your calendar. This allows you to see what’s on your plate throughout the day / week from a bird’s eye view.
The calendar itself is built using the very popular iCal format, which is supported by most third-party calendar applications. You can easily export your reminders and sync everything. Not only that, the app is also available for macOS and Linux platforms.
The $ 9.99 Pro version will add third-party support for Office365, Remember the Milk, and ToodleDoo among others.

Wrap around: reminder apps for Windows
Depending on your requirements and the challenges you face, you can choose any of the above reminder apps. If you want something simple that works right out of the box, Cortana is great, but only for Windows 10. Otherwise, you can opt for RemindMe for Windows.
If you need more than a reminder app, Windows Shutdown Assistant is a good solution that automates other parts of your Windows platform as well.
If you need a cross-platform reminder app with advanced project management features and can afford to pay, Remember the Milk is great.
