Google Docs has a feature that allows you to publish a copy of a Google Docs file as a lightweight web page. If you need to upload selected images from a document, use the Google Docs “Publish to Web” feature.

7. Third-Party Add-Ons

Image Extractor & Remover is a popular Google Docs add-on that allows users to save images from Google Docs. While convenient to use, app permissions are superfluous. This add-on requires access to your Google Drive files and personal information in your Google account.

You must also give it permission to view, edit, and delete Google Drive files. That’s way too much data/access for the functionality it offers. The exchange is not worth it.

But if you’re happy with those permissions, or feel like experimenting, here’s how to install the add-on.

Select Add-ons from the toolbar and select Get Add-ons.

Let’s Talk Image Quality

In our experiments, images uploaded using these methods retained the same size, size, and quality as the original image uploaded to a Google Doc. We loaded about 50 images into a document, re-downloaded them all and compared them with the original copies we uploaded.

There was no reduction in image quality or size on both mobile and desktop. However, it is worth noting that editing an image in Google Docs will affect the size and quality of the upload. For example, cropping an image will reduce its size and size.

Let’s leave you with one last trick for saving images from Google Docs. Download PDF document and extract images from PDF file. Welcome 😉.
