Apple TV 4K is one of the best streaming devices with top-notch features and top-notch features. While the streaming window is easy to customize, some less obvious configurations can improve your streaming and navigation experience.

1. Calibrate Your TV for Color Balance
You should calibrate your Apple TV the first time you set it up. This will provide the best color and picture quality when streaming movies. If you haven’t already, we’ll show you how to do it.
If your iPhone supports Face ID, you can use tvOS’s Color Balance feature to automatically improve the picture on your TV.
With the Color Balance tool, Apple TV will use your phone to measure the color response of your TV and adjust its output for better picture quality.
Again, your iPhone must support Face ID and be running iOS 14.5 or later. The operation does not require your devices (iPhone and Apple TV) to be on the same network. You don’t need an internet connection to calibrate the color balance of your TV. Just bring your iPhone close to the TV and follow these steps.
On Apple TV, go to Settings> Video & Audio and select Color Balance under Calibration.
You should see a Color Balance popup on your iPhone. Select Continue and move iPhone even closer to the TV screen while the calibration tool loads.
Turn the device so that the screen faces the TV. Now hold iPhone over the center of the blue outline on the TV screen. Make sure your iPhone is within one inch of your TV screen or closer.
The blue outline will change to red, green, blue and white as you calibrate and measure the color. Hold your phone steady until a success message appears on the iPhone. You should also see the changes the Apple TV has made to your TV display. Click “Finish” to continue.
Select “View Results” on TV.
Go to Use Original to compare the picture quality on your TV before and after calibration. Select Use Balanced to apply a calibrated color balance.
2. Wireless Audio Sync
If you want to wirelessly project the audio output from your TV to an AirPlay-enabled device or Bluetooth speaker, use the Wireless Audio Sync feature to calibrate the audio on your TV. This ensures you don’t experience audio lag or other audio-related issues when streaming content to your Apple TV.
The Wireless Audio Sync tool will use your iPhone to measure the time it takes for your TV to play video and audio. For this to work, your Apple TV and iPhone must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Additionally, your iPhone must be running iOS 13 or later.
Bring iPhone close to the TV, choose Settings> Video & Audio, and select Wireless Sound Sync.
You should see the Wireless Sound Sync pop-up on your iPhone. Click “Continue” to continue. Your TV will play a beep during the audio sync process. Wait a minute or two until you get the “Sound syncing complete†notification. Click Finish on your iPhone.
3. Reduce Loud Noise
This tvOS feature allows you to watch movies and listen to music without disturbing others. By turning on Reduce Loud Noise, your Apple TV will soften the sound effects in movies and songs. Consequently, this will result in lower volume levels without loss of detail and overall sound quality.
Open the Apple TV Settings app, select Video & Sound, select Decrease Volume, and make sure it’s set to On.

4. Customize TV Button
By default, pressing the TV button once will take you to the Watch Now (or Next) tab in the Apple TV app. Pressing again will take you to the home screen. If you want the TV button to take you to the home screen the first time you press it, change the behavior of the TV button in the remote control settings menu.
Go to Settings, select Remotes and Devices and set the TV Button to Home Screen.
5. Enable Automatic App Updates and Software Updates
It’s easy to install and add apps to Apple TV. However, having to manually check for app updates in the App Store can be tedious and a waste of time. That’s why you should set your Apple TV to automatically update the app as soon as a new version hits the App Store. It’s also a good idea to set your Apple TV to automatically install new tvOS updates when they’re available.

Go to Settings, select Apps and set Automatically update apps to On

7. Switch Quickly Between Apps
You can switch between apps on Apple TV without going to the home screen. Just press the TV button twice to launch the application switching mode.
Use the touchpad on the remote control or the arrow buttons to navigate left or right to the app you want to open. You can also force close apps from app switching mode.
Go to the app you want to close and swipe up on the Clickpad or Touch Surface until the app preview disappears from the screen. To exit the application switching mode, press the Back or TV button.
