6 Best Way to Fixing Apple Watch Keeps Disconnecting From iPhone.
Your Apple Watch works best when it’s actively connected to your iPhone. Luckily, you don’t usually have to worry about this because both devices automatically communicate via Bluetooth as long as you keep them close.
But if you find that your Apple Watch disconnects from your iPhone frequently (this means a red iPhone-shaped symbol with a slash at the top of the watch face), try the fixes below to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
1. Check Bluetooth Status
Both your Apple Watch and iPhone require Bluetooth to connect, so a good place to start is to make sure Bluetooth works on both devices.
Check Apple Watch Bluetooth status
1. Press the Digital Crown and open the Settings app (tap the gear icon).
2. Scroll down and press Bluetooth.
3. Make sure the toggle next to Bluetooth is turned on.
Check iPhone Bluetooth Status
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Press Bluetooth to access Bluetooth settings.
3. Make sure the toggle next to Bluetooth is turned on.
2. Toggle Airplane Mode
Turning Airplane Mode on and off restarts Bluetooth on Apple Watch and iPhone. This usually ends up with occasional connection issues preventing communication with Bluetooth devices.
Toggle Airplane Mode on Apple Watch
1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
2. Scroll down and click “Airplane Mode“.
3. In the Airplane Behavior section, turn off Bluetooth.
4. Activate the switch next to Airplane mode.
5. Wait 10 seconds and turn off Airplane Mode.
Enabling Airplane Mode on iPhone
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Turn on the switch next to Airplane Mode. If this does not change the status next to Bluetooth to Off, tap Bluetooth, disable Bluetooth and return to the previous screen.
3. Wait 10 seconds and turn off airplane mode. If you had to disable Bluetooth manually in the previous step, the status next to Bluetooth should automatically change to Enabled.
3. Restart Devices
If Bluetooth is not the cause, try restarting your Apple Watch and iPhone. This is another quick fix that can fix problems caused by random errors and glitches in system software.
Restart your Apple Watch
1. Press and hold the side button until the power off screen appears.
2. Drag the Power icon to the right and wait 30 seconds.
3. Press and hold the side button again until you see the Apple logo to turn the watch back on.
Restart your iPhone
1. Open the Settings app and tap General > Turn off.
2. Drag the Power icon to the right and wait 30 seconds.
3. Hold down the Side/Power button until you see the Apple logo to turn iPhone back on.
4. Update System Software
Updating your Apple Watch and iPhone system software can also fix persistent connectivity issues. If you have Wi-Fi access, you can update both Apple devices by following these steps.
Update system software on Apple Watch
1. Place your Apple Watch on the magnetic charger. You also need it to be at least 50% charged in order to start the upgrade.
2. Swipe up from the bottom of the watch face to open Control Center. Then press and hold the Wi-Fi icon and connect to an available Wi-Fi network (if not already connected).
3. Press the Digital Crown and select Settings.
4. Scroll down and click Software Update.
5. Wait while your smartwatch scans for new updates.
6. Click Download and Install to update watchOS to the latest version.
Update system software on iPhone
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Tap Wi-Fi and connect to an available Wi-Fi network (if not already connected). Then return to the previous screen.
3. Click General.
4. Click Software Update.
5. Wait while your phone searches for new updates.
6. Click Download and Install to update iOS. If the battery level is below 50%, you must connect iPhone to a charging source to complete the update.

5. Reset Network Settings on iPhone
If you still have connection problems between your Apple Watch and iPhone, try resetting the network settings on your iOS device. This can fix a potentially corrupt Bluetooth configuration.
Note. This process will also disconnect you from any Wi-Fi networks, so make sure you know the password for your Wi-Fi network before you begin so you can reconnect to it.
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Select General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
3. Click “Reset network settings”.
4. Enter your device password.
5. Click “Reset network settings” again.
6. Unpair and Reconnect Watch
If none of the fixes above worked, the next logical step would be to reset your Apple Watch to factory defaults. We recommend that you do this through the Apple Watch app on your iPhone because it creates an up-to-date backup of your data that you can restore later.
Reset Apple Watch with iPhone
If your Apple Watch is actively connected to a paired iPhone:
1. Open the Apple Watch app and go to the My Watch tab.
2. Tap the All Clocks option in the top left corner of the screen.
3. Tap the Info icon next to Apple Watch.
4. Click Turn Off Apple Watch.
5. Tap “Turn Off Apple Watch [your name]” to confirm.
Reset Apple Watch via watchOS
If your Apple Watch is not connected to iPhone:
1. Press the Digital Crown and select Settings.
2. Click General.
3. Scroll down and click Reset.
4. Click “Delete all content and settings”.
5. Enter your device passcode and click Erase All to confirm.
Follow this by reconnecting your Apple Watch to your iPhone. If you have a backup of your Apple Watch data on your iOS device, you can restore it.
Strong Relationship
Switching Airplane Mode or resetting the system software is all that’s usually required to resolve communication issues between Apple Watch and iPhone. Only resort to advanced troubleshooting if the problem occurs again and again. If nothing works and your Apple Watch keeps turning off, contact Apple Support to find out what to do next.
