6 Best Oculus Quest 2 Productivity Apps.
Most people view the Oculus Quest 2 as a gaming device. But there are plenty of productivity apps available for VR headsets to help you make the most of your day and achieve more.
However, this is most evident in the Meta Quest headset. Apps like Horizon Worlds have brought virtual workforces closer together and allow you to attend virtual reality meetings, removing much of the isolation and loneliness of working from home. Even if you don’t use a Meta Quest 2 headset for this purpose, many productivity apps are still available to streamline your workflow.
1. VSpatial
VSpatial is the closest application to real JARVIS that exists. This allows users to create an infinite number of virtual desktops and virtual monitors. There are also many screen sharing features that allow you to show your colleagues exactly what you are doing.

The ability to connect to a PC means you can take full advantage of its capabilities with Meta Quest 2, making it the perfect way to do high-intensity work like video and image rendering. There are even entertainment options in VR, like a basketball hoop that you can throw at while you think about your next move. It’s not a full VR game (probably the best for productivity), but still a good way to pass the time.
2. Gravity Sketch
Are you in the creative field? Gravity Sketch works like a scaled-down CAD program that allows you to create 3D models in virtual reality, create concept art, and more. This is a great way to display your creations on a whiteboard, or place them in front of a background to better visualize the result.

Gravity Sketch offers six different creation tools and three types of geometry: Mesh, NURBS and SubD. Unlimited layers, custom environments, and more are available to you. Best of all, it’s a free platform. Try it and see if it suits you.
3. Horizon Workrooms
The Horizon Workrooms beta is a way to bring remote teams together from anywhere in the world. You create a “room”, essentially just a virtual office, and avatars of your colleagues can sit across from you. You can bring images and resources into the virtual space, display them on a whiteboard, and even remotely connect to your computer.

While Horizon Workrooms still has room for improvement, it’s off to a great start. The ability to join meetings via video call on a mobile device if you don’t have VR makes it accessible to everyone. It’s the promise of the Metaverse implemented in the app, and you can even enable pass-through to see your keyboard, creating mixed reality. Horizon Workrooms is also designed to work with hand tracking to improve productivity.
4. Noda
Noda is a brainstorming app that tries to create the feeling of being inside your own mind. You create “nodes” – individual points of interest from which you can branch out. For example, you can create a node for “nouns”. From this node you make three branch nodes for “person”, “place”, and “things”. Then from the human node, you create additional branches for “George Washington” and “Barack Obama”.

Noda has a free plan that allows you to create a limited number of rooms and node systems, and limits the amount of voice text available to you. Typing in Noda uses a virtual keyboard that needs to be hovered over and pressed, so it’s not ideal. If you need more voice to text conversion, you need to subscribe to one of their subscription plans.
The good news is that the free plan gives you enough insight into how the app works to determine if it’s right for you or not.
5. Immersed
When spending a lot of time in coffee shops is still somewhat iffy, many people miss out on the experience. Immersed puts you in a fully virtual workspace, giving you access to multiple virtual screens as well as the ability to bring your keyboard into virtual reality.

It’s perfect for solo work, but you can also use Immersed to interact with your team in the conference room in real time. Multiple monitors are a great way to see more information at the same time. Immersed is a free app, but you can pay for the Elite version to get access to a larger workspace with more screens and whiteboards.
6. ShapesXR
ShapesXR is designed to work with your team, in particular to present 3D ideas and models in a more understandable way. This tool is handy for VR and AR content designers and also works with multiple game engines so you can explore immersive content in its conceptual form.
Although ShapesXR is not as detailed as anything created in Maya or Unity, it allows you to lay the groundwork. You can then export from VR, over the web, and with plugins. Ideal for early planning. ShapesXR is free, but there are in-app purchases you can invest in to further expand its functionality and features.

There are many different apps available on Quest, and some are more niche than others. However, between those listed here and those on the way, as well as the apps available on platforms like SteamVR via Air Link, there’s practically no limit to the amount of work you can get done while wearing a headset.
If you plan to be in VR for a long time, you can purchase a more comfortable head strap and an extra battery. Consider a Bluetooth keyboard that also works in VR, with low latency to prevent typing errors.
In-app integration makes it easy to use your favorite tools, even if they’re exclusive to Apple or Microsoft, from the comfort of your virtual space. What’s more, many of these tools work cross-platform, so it doesn’t matter which VR platform you choose. Whether you use Quest 2 or something like the HTC Vive, you can still work together with people all over the world.
