slack delete multiple messages.5 Ways to Delete Slack Messages in Bulk Easily.message deleter for slack.slack delete messages.
Slack started out on a mission to replace email and has pretty much succeeded in doing so. We use Slack at TechWiser, as do thousands of other companies, both small and large. Sending messages instead of long and formal letters saves time. But this also poses a problem. How do I delete Slack bulk messages? Well, Slack is aware of the problem, but does nothing to solve it.
Users have complained about this issue, but to no avail. We have several ways to get rid of old Slack messages in bulk, but why would you delete them? Privacy and security can be one of the reasons. Delete sensitive conversations that you don’t want others to access, even accidentally. Others are saved messages and the storage limit that Slack has for different account holders depending on plans.
Before we get started, keep in mind that if you are a regular Slack user, you can only delete your posts. However, if you are the admin or owner of a channel, you can also delete posts from other users (excluding posts from users with indirect posts). However, let’s get started.

1. Delete Messages for Slack (Chrome Extension)
It seems that there is a Chrome extension for everything. Click the link below to open and install the Message Delete for Slack extension. It should work in any Chromium browser including Chrome and Brave. Click the Slack extension icon and select the Delete My Messages option. Before doing this, select the channel from which you want to delete messages.
Please note that you can only delete your own messages, not messages sent by others. They’ll have to stuff them themselves. It should also be noted that the developer has released another extension for new Slack users. If you’re using the new Slack interface, use version 2.0 instead.
If you’re a Slack admin and want to delete all posts from all users, you’ll need to get the pro version, which will cost you $ 50 one time. Not a bad deal. Try it now.

2. Slack Cleaner (Python Script)
An open source Python script is available on GitHub that you can install and use to bulk delete Slack posts. It will be a little interesting here, but you should be able to do this even if you are not familiar with running Python scripts. Download the python script from the link below.
You will need API permissions. Click Create Token next to the workspace where you want to delete Slack messages in bulk. Copy your API key. You can install this script on macOS. I couldn’t get it to work on Windows yet. I’ll keep you up to date. If someone made it work on Windows, share it in the comments below.
MacOS
Command
pip install slack-cleaner
and
Slack-cleaner –token –message –channel general –user “*”
There is a limit to the number of messages you can delete in one go, so if something stops, press the up arrow key and repeat the command. The developer’s guide can be found here.

3. Slack Deleter (Chrome Extension)
Here’s another Chrome extension, but there are some changes under the hood. Not only can you delete Slack messages right away, but you can also delete attachments. Other cool features include the ability to delete all posts except flagged ones, delete by timeline or date range, delete all posts from a user, or delete all posts in a feed.
The process is simple enough. Open a Slack channel, click on the extension and set the option by user or date and time range. Select Start Deletion and watch the messages begin to be deleted in real time. You can stop the process at any time if you think things are not going according to plan.
If you’re getting timeout errors, please refresh your Slack page and try again. Again, only the Slack admin can delete posts from other users. This is on purpose and cannot be changed. Check out the pro version for more options and fewer restrictions.

4. Deletron (delete files only)
Not everyone is bothered by the messages, there are also files that we share with other users on Slack. If you only want to delete files, Detetron is a cool little open source web application and very easy to use. Just open the web app and log into your Slack account. You can later revoke any access. Once you’ve done that, select a specific channel or select all channels and choose the file types you want to find and delete.
Once you have selected the file types and channels, you will see the exact number of files based on your filters that Deletron was able to find. You can now delete files, but they will be deleted one at a time. This is because the Slack API limited this request. The advantage of using this tool is that you can use all of these filters to narrow down your results. For example, if you are using a free plan or are running out of space, you can find larger files and delete them first.
To revoke Deletron’s access to Slack, open Slack Applications Deletron Settings Configuration and click the Uninstall App button. TA-dah! You made.

5. MessageBender
MessageBender not only allows you to bulk delete Slack messages and files like other apps on the list, but it can also download backups of your messages. It’s also pretty cheap compared to its alternatives.
In the free version, you can delete 100 messages. As of this writing, you can delete 2,500 posts for the limited time offer for just $ 1 and 12,500 posts for Slack for $ 3. Get MessageBender
There are four ways to delete messages and even files in Slack. You can use a browser extension, Python script, or web app for this. Much will also depend on what you want to achieve. I would recommend that you use Slack Deleter and Deletron first. These are the two best solutions for the job.
