3 ways to Rotate Video on iPhone (2018)

3 ways to Rotate Video on iPhone (2018).

I recently started using my iPhone and once got my bearings while recording a video. The video was shot in portrait orientation, not landscape. I assumed it was okay and went to the Photos app to change the orientation. To my surprise, you cannot rotate videos in the Photos app, although you can rotate images in the Photos app. It’s strange.

If you have videos with the wrong orientation, you can turn off auto-orientation by swiping up and toggling the orientation lock, which will allow you to view in a fixed orientation. This workaround is for kids and I know that’s not why you clicked on this article, so we’ll show you three actual ways to rotate iPhone videos.

Rotate video on iPhone

Method 1: Use the iMovie extension

iMovie is a complete video editor for your iPhone that does more than just rotate your videos. If you only have one job to rotate a video, you’ll have to open the app, download the video, then change the orientation and save another clip in the Photos app, which sounds like a chore. Well, there is one simple alternative, the iMovie extension, which is available in the Photos app. It’s more like a shortcut to rotate your videos right from the Photos app.

If you don’t already have iMovie on your iPhone, download iMovie from the App Store. This is a great free video editing app from Apple.

Then go to the Photos app and open your video that you want to rotate. Then click on the 3 horizontal dots in the circle at the bottom of the screen.

When you’re happy with the orientation, hit the save button and your video will play in the correct orientation. This will replace the original video and save it in the same location, i.e. the film.

Method 2: Using the app

Now I understand that iMovie takes up a lot of space on your iPhone and you can’t just download this app just to rotate videos. iMovie is a great video editor, but if you don’t edit videos often, you can simply download Rotate and Flip from the App Store. There are only two functions in this application: rotation and reflection. You can flip the video vertically and horizontally and rotate the video 360 degrees.

This is a simple application, if you need a more advanced editor you can check this link.

Third method: online video rotation

In the previous article, we showed you how to download Twitter videos to your iPhone, but there was no direct way because Apple does not allow downloading directly from the browser. Now the star of the show is the MyMedia file manager, which has a built-in web browser and lets you download videos to your iPhone.

We all must have used online video editors and they work great and don’t go dormant in our devices. But due to Apple restrictions, we couldn’t use it on iPhone. MyMedia allows you to use an online video rotation website and upload videos to the Photos app.
